Case Study: Maria is a two year old girl who lives with her parents, grandfather, two brothers ages 3 and 5, and a cousin who is 17. Maria’s parents both work two jobs and Maria is often cared for by her grandfather. When Maria was born, her maternal grandmother died suddenly which triggered Maria’s mother’s postpartum depression. Maria’s mother was hospitalized for two weeks due to the severity. Maria’s parents are wanting to enroll Maria in an early childhood program but have difficulty with language barriers and transportation due to their work schedule.
