Sociology analyzes societies and different social elements. Parenting and cross-class marriages are certain aspects that are impacted by social elements, like the structural and cultural forces present in a given society. 

Structural forces refer to the institutional elements within the society that play a role in determining social positions like class, status, prestige, etc. Cultural forces refer to shared narratives and interpretations amongst a certain group of people.
