Question
A four-lane undivided highway (two lanes per direction) has a segment of horizontal curve with the radius of 440 ft measured to the center line of the highway. The lane width is 12 ft. The inner lane of the curve has a 6 ft wide shoulder. A sound wall has been constructed at 12 feet from the edge of the shoulder calculate the available site distance (S) if the SSD is 246 ft. Is the site distance adequate ?
