In Major League Baseball’s 1919 World Series two teams that were the Chicago White Sox and Cincinnati Reds went up against each other. They played only a eight game series because the Cincinnati Reds already had won five games after the eighth game was over which didn’t require them to go to the ninth game. Many people found it hard to believe that the Reds actually one the World Series because the White Sox were favored to win. The bookies made the odds seven to five favored on the Chicago White Sox to win. Believe it or not the Chicago White Sox actually let the Cincinnati Reds win the series because they were payed a significant amount of money to throw the game. This famous Scandal was known as The Black Sox Scandal. The media reacted very suddenly to this scandal, the people were very shocked when they got word of it, and the aftermath of this Scandal cause many problems in baseball and society.

The Yankees Major League Baseball Team founded in Baltimore Maryland in the year 1901. the old team the Orioles, was managed and owned by John McGraw. In 1903, owners and managers of the American League voted to move the team to New York City. They have won 27 World Series sense 1923 through 2009. Babe Ruth (number 3) has made a huge change in baseball,he played in the Yankees for a long time and has inspired people to play baseball. His stats are: home runs 714, bases on balls are 2,062, he was truly a good inspiration and good base ball player for all base ball players and he's just one of the many inspiring people playing baseball in are history.

Boston has one of the best farm systems in baseball. The scouts for the Red Sox are doing God’s work for Major League Baseball, but not the hometown team. A team grows their farm system with the intention to build the Major League roster for the future or use these prospects to attract strong, veteran trade candidates. Instead, the Sox give up guys only to watch them flourish for other ballclubs. Every other team benefits thanks to Boston and we get nothing remarkable in return.

The New York Yankees were a very popular baseball team in the 1960s because of their ability to go far and win the world series 2 times in the 1960’s. In 1962 The Yankees went to the world series and played at Yankee Stadium(britannica.com). In the World Series, they ended up defeating the San Francisco Giants in game 7 so the Yankees could take the gold trophy(Britannica.com).Game 7 in the world series means that the two teams playing had an equal skill level.Each team won 3 games,but in the last game the Yankees took the gold by learning from their mistakes. MLB owners are paying too much for players, stadiums, amenities, etc. to put fans in seats and I cannot imagine they appreciate going to that level of effort so that the outcome of a game may get decided on a blown call by an umpire.

The American League East has been a very competitive division for decades mostly because of the heated rivalry between the Red Sox and Yankees. That is still the case in 2016 except the other teams like the Baltimore Orioles and Toronto Blue Jays have this division even more entertaining in recent years. This season I think the Red Sox are the best team not only in the division, but also in the American League.

(Zook) There are wealthy owners that can just go out and buy a winning team. The Yankees will always be in contention year after year as long as George Steinbrenner is the owner. He has the money to have a yearly team payroll of around $115 million. So being a rich owner in theory gives your team a better chance on winning in the Major Leagues.

In 2003, the Red Sox were playing the Yankees in Game 7 of the American League Championship Series. Baseball fans everywhere either love or hate those Damn Yankees. I for one, love the greatest franchise in professional sports! So, why do fans despise or admire this powerhouse club? I would like to explore a few areas that could help explain this love-hate scenario.

When we finally managed to escape the stadium and enter Yawkey Way, it was to nearly a dozen small groups of people playing instruments and an even larger number of people selling t-shirts featuring the faces of athletes. Food vendors lined the sidewalks and worked quickly to serve the ever-growing lines circling their carts. Dad, Kenny, Rebecca, and I continued to move through the street in our haste to get to the car which, hours earlier, had decided to stop working entirely.

Baseball is one of America's favorite pastimes, people have been coming out to watch long baseball games since the sport began. The National Anthem being sung at every baseball game shows the pride Americans have for our country. This is a time where the whole stadium comes together regardless of the team they're rooting for and stands up and respects our country by standing in silence, sometimes kneeling…to soon. Everyone in the crowd is staring at the flag that is in the center of the field. Americans express their patriotism by loudly singing the National Anthem at events as simple as a baseball game. Often times the Nation Anthem stirs up a sense of pride in people, during those few minutes people are reflective of what it means to be American.
