The Barack Obama presidency has generated a lot of topics not only in the United States, but all around the world. Obama is not an international model for everyone all over the globe not because of his skin color, but because of what he stands for, the values that he believes in, and what he has done for people in the world. He able to beat John McCain who is white in the race to the White House in 2008 presidency and was able to beat Mitt Romney in the 2012 presidency because he embodied what Americans had been lacking for a very long time: hope. If I could ask anyone dead or alive a question it would be 44th president Barack Obama. I would ask him how it felt to be the first African American president and if there is anything he regrets doing in his precedencies. I would ask him this question because being the first African American president, it came with a lot of pressure and difficulties but he got through it all and won 2 presidencies. …show more content…
My parents told me that I would never see a black president in my lifetime. Nobody believed the United States would have a black president so soon. A lot of pressure already came with becoming the president yet alone becoming the first black one. People tried to look through Obama’s past to find anything bad on him that could hurt him from becoming the next president. Race relationships got worse because some people didn’t like the fact he won. Barack Obama proved that if you stay strong and fight through everything that you can become anything you
Barack Obama has impacted America in many ways since he was elected the 44th president on November 4th, 2008. The first African American president of the United States has taken the world by storm and done many great things for this country. Barack Obama has accomplished many things in his personal life, and also as the president of the United States. Obama has affected the world financially, economically, and rebuilt our image as a nation.
The election of Barack Obama as the president of the United States surprised Americans as much as it did the world. The first African American and non-white to be in the White House, Barack Obama symbolized a major historical event, another step-forward toward racial equality in the history of America. Civil rights activists, experts in the racial conflict of the U.S., and many liberal citizens believed that Obama’s election means the realization of the ideas of black civil rights leaders, the completion of the Civil Rights Movement, the beginning of a post-racial society, and the downfall of
Barack Obama was sworn in as the 44th president of the United States of America on November 4, 2008. He was the first black man to be elected to office. Due to the Civil Rights Movement and abolishment of slavery, African Americans gained many new freedoms and possibilities. African Americans gained the right to vote, the right to get a quality education, and they were seen as equals to the whites. This all eventually lead to the election of Barack Obama.
Barack Obama has many achievements and will be remembered well in history. In the past year, Obama took action that directly affected the black community. High incarceration rates, police brutality, healthcare, and education were some of the issues he addressed.
I would have loved to ask why he ran away at the age of 17 and where he went? That seems like a hard thing to do, to just up and leave i don't think i could have done that. I would have liked to know what his motives were. He was also a very important person during the American Revolution. He was the 2nd continental congress i would have asked
There was three ways “A Dream Fulfilled: The Story Barack Obama” impressed me. One way he impressed me, was how he handle being biracial at the time period of the civil rights movement. Barack having a Kenyan Father and a White American Mother during the middle of the civil rights movement. For example, the book describes Barack resist being a racist himself because at this time everyone is pointing fingers at each other. He stays clear and still be accepting to other. Another way he impressed me, that he’s genuinely wants to help people. He was just in it to become president for selfish reasons. For example, he was a community organizer. The job has low pay and work with stubborn people. He accepted this job because he truly wanted to help
The election of our first African American President Barack Obama is probably one of the more positive things to have happened during my lifetime. President Obama's
In my opinion, with Barrack Obama being elected was a way of introducing equality and showing society that we too as African Americans can do great things. We came along ways from slavery days and things are different. We are the same and equal in this free state., the great United States of America.
What would you do if I had told you Martin Luther King Jr. was the most important person in American history? Dr. Martin has inspired numerous people to “step up” against segregation; King was also the head and backbone of many Civil Rights Protests. Dr. King gave one of the most popular speeches of all time; this was his “I had a Dream” speech. Although he only lived to be thirty nine years old, he is the single-handedly most important person in American History!
The election of a black president was a happy, yet shocking time for many Black people in America. I never thought that I would live to see the election of a person who has the same skin color as me. I realize that even we had elected a Black president it took a lot of blood, sweat and tears to do this. Many people in the past suffered so that we would be able to elect someone who represented millions of American based on skin color. However, there was a long road ahead for Black people and they eventually were able to get the right to vote. Black men were the for people who were allowed to vote then women. Even though laws were passed so that Black people could vote there were plenty of obstacles put in the way to hinder their effort to do so.
He is the first African American to in history to run on a major ticket. In the beginning of his campaign a lot of people questioned his authority and wanted to know could he handle the responsibilities of a president for such a big country. “ I want to know how deep is your love for the people, what kind of courage have you manifested in the stances that you have and what are you willing to sacrifice for. This is the fundamental question. I don’t care what color you are. You see, you can’t take black people for granted just cause your black”. (C.West) These questions just made Obama a much stronger person and he continued to fight.
In the year 2008, the United States elected its first African American president. This was a day of celebration by the African American people. It was proof they finally overcame the many harsh obstacles in life and earned respect. Back in 1964, both whites and blacks would never have imagined something like this could be possible. Back then, African Americans were considered slaves with absolutely no rights. Sadly, by some, they were even considered non-human. Electing an African American as president strongly shows how far we have evolved
Genetic engineering is the process of being able to manually add new DNA to an organism. This is to try and add one or more new traits to an organism, which does not have these certain traits. An example of this being done is how bacteria have been genetically engineered to produce human insulin. Insulin is a hormone, which is produced by the pancreas that allows the body to use sugar from carbohydrates in food that is eaten for energy or to store glucose for future use. Basically insulin helps your body keep your blood sugar levels from becoming too high (hyperglycemia) or too low (hypoglycemia). But for people with type 1 or 2 diabetes it can be a challenge to produce insulin, as their beta cells in the pancreas are destroyed/damaged or do not respond well or are resistant to insulin. Therefore these people need to gain their insulin from an external source. For many years it was gained from the pancreas of a cow or a pig. However this was very expensive and difficult, also the insulin could cause allergic reactions. This is where genetic engineering came in. Once the structure of human insulin was found in 1955 cow and pig insulin could be chemically modified to be the same as human insulin. Genetically engineered microbes now make it. They produce human insulin in a pure form, which is less likely to cause allergic reactions.
In the beginning of his speech, Obama discusses his family and their past, how his grandfather served the United States and was a veteran of World War II. He speaks about the name that was given to him, Obama, as being African and how his parents felt that it isnt your name that takes you places and makes you who you are, it your character, strength, and personality. He also descibes his encounters with that he
Getting to this place was a journey for Obama just as it is for all others, in my opinion. My perception of the encounter, for Barack, was neither horribly negative, nor very positive. He was simply lost, it seemed. As a young child attending a prestigious school in Hawaii, Barack Obama was cared for by his white American mother and grandparents, but was a brown child, having also a black Kenyan father. Barack was an outcast for everyone, being secluded from the whites because of his look, and having a different outlook than other black students at his school who held the view that they were oppressed by white people. It was far from sensible that the people who loved, cared for, and supported him the most could oppress Barack.
