The news comes in as a good look for the US and that accomplishment somewhat ensured the re-election of Obama in 2012. A western diplomat described the news as a "game changer"- not just for al-Qaida, but also for US foreign policy in Pakistan and Afghanistan, a region embroiled in turmoil and violence in 2001.Some fear that Bin Ladens death could spark a precipitous US withdrawal from the region with the war against the Taliban in Afghanistan still unresolved("Osama Bin Laden is Dead"). Obama signed a repeal of the 'Don't ask, Don't tell' which allowed gays and lesbians to serve openly in the military. A great moment in the gay community was when Barack Obama repealed the 'don't ask, don't tell' after 17 years of that law being in affect. This policy forced gays to hide their sexual orientation or face dismissal because of their sexual preference. President Obama took office in early 2009, but did not immediately make a move on homosexual military policy as Clinton did. Obama acknowledged that the process to repeal DADT would have to go through the proper legislative channels, most importantly involving Pentagon officials, before it could come to a congressional vote. He and his allies agreed that the best course of action was to “wait on definitive recommendations from the military” (Rogin 1694). Clinton’s early push for action led to a compromise that was not only seen as a defeat for the administration, but also shied away many Democratic
The position of president has evolved in the almost quarter millennium since the framers created the Constitution. The main issues facing the framers included the position’s structure, independence, and power. Although the modern presidency is different from the framers’ design, they would approve of it, since the concerns that the framers had with the executive still have been prevented. When creating the presidency, one issue the framers decided quickly was the structure, particularly having one president. This satisfied the needs of both the Conservative and Radical Republicans, by allowing for quick action, while still providing clear accountability.

I remember when President Obama was first elected while I was in the 5th grade and many do not truly understand how he has positively impacted Americans in many different way. He is essentially the first president that I grew up with while understanding American Politics. He grew as a role model to many minorities who have long believed that there would never be an African American President. He brought hope, change, and prosperity to a country that was nearing a recession when he attained the presidency. Many have repetitively treated President Obama with contempt, racism disrespect by questioning his citizenship, faith, and love for the great country. 8 1/2 months into his first term President Obama was delivering a nationally televised

Obama was an open minded president and never showed discrimination in any form. Before becoming president, Obama graduated from Harvard Law school.
