Throughout World War One, also known as the Great War an array of different technologies were used from both the allies and the Central Powers.The Early months of WWI saw the beginning of air-to-air contact. Fighter Planes were first used by the Germans on the Western front followed by the French and British.
All round WWI, fighter planes were used as an aerial attack against the opposition. Through the period of 4 years major developments had occurred to improve fighter planes. With fighter planes in WWI the main influence was to gain knowledge about the land of the enemy and see main features of land such as the enemies trenches. The fighter planes were first introduced in the war on April 1st 1915 by the Germans, followed by the British and French. Pilots of these planes threw grenades, bricks and hooks from the aircraft, but failed to succeed in harming the enemy effectively. The ideal solution was a small and light machine gun to shoot from the aircraft. Although this

The battle of Verdun started when Germany attacked Verdun in France. The Germans had the advantages in the air with approximately 168 aircraft. Most fighter planes were monoplanes, therefore the one pilot would maneuver the plane while also shooting the machine gun. Most Fighter planes were used to shoot down other planes and to extend their knowledge of the nearby land. In the Battle of Verdun, the Germans had overall air superiority against the French and used tactics to bring down their mere amount of aircraft. They would shoot down the aircraft with large machine guns from the land and other fighter planes. During the war imperial army services were also used which included fighter planes such as the those manufactured by Albatros-Flugzeugwerke and Fokker. These aircrafts used where monoplane, biplane and triplane
World War 1(WW1) introduced many different types of machinery and weaponry to the world. It was known to be the greatest enhancements technological warfare. It introduced many different types of machinery and weaponry to the world. Some examples would include the first models of tanks, machine guns, airplanes and aircraft carriers(History 1). As the war progressed in years, the weapons and machines got substantially better. These improvements contributed and influenced modern war tactics which in the end, results in an overall more deadlier war.
The new weapons used in WW1 included: The Rifle used by every country involved in the war, The machine gun, Gas bombs which included chlorine in the early stages of the war then mustard gas in the later stages of the war, Flamethrowers, a Zeppelin or blimp which was a massive aircraft used by the Germans, Tanks 1st used in the battle of Somme, Planes which could dispense bullets at an incredible rate, drop bombs and even support a cannon, and submarines with torpedoes, to make easy pickings on the biggest ships. The rifle, machine gun, and the airplane were invented before WW1 but were upgraded into war machines that were devastating for soldiers.
Before and during the Second World War people were fascinated with flight, the speed and the idea of flying high in the sky has kept people interested. Bombers and fighters alike both change dramatically in the twenty years after the Great War. From cloth wings to metal wings planes became bigger, faster, agile, and can hold a lot more fire power. The air war has changes significantly since the First World War. During the First World War bombers played a big role in the air war and after it left many questions whether it is the way to win wars. There has been speculation that future wars would be won by bombers and it can crush and the enemies at home and also the soldiers. Both book, Wartime by Fusslle and Why the Allies Won by Overy explain in depth what was the actual outcome of bombers and their roles before and after the war.
Many new weapons were used during the course of WW1. These inventions or improvements of these machines would change how war was fought. The use of tanks, submarines, and aircrafts all had varying degrees of impact on the war. The tanks being the most influential, followed by the submarines, and then the use of aircrafts. First and foremost, tanks were the most impactful on the war because this was the first time they were used in a military conflict. Being never previously used, the tanks enjoyed varying levels of success and would forever revolutionize warfare. In addition, since the tank had never been previously used, there was no immediate strategy to defend against it. Another reason why tanks were the most influential in the war was that they increased mobility on the Western Front. Before the tank, the only way soldiers could fight without guaranteeing their deaths was through trench warfare. Thanks to the tank, the stalemate was
World War 1 or the Great War was one of the most brutal if not the most war the world has faced so far. It originated in Europe which quickly went global, the war started on the 28th of July 1914 and ended November 11th 1918. The war consisted of many weapons and deadly gases. The weapons include;
)although the planes helped the allies bitter fighting would still continue. Although the Germans had an upper hand on the Allies on the ground, they had heavy tanks or the king tiger tank it was introduced in 1944 the king tiger tank was one of the most feared weapons on the battle field. It boasted an 88mm cannon. Compared to the Americans 75mm cannon the tiger also had a longer barrel which increased the velocity of the 88mm gun. The tiger not only had a big gun it had a lot of armor with 150mm of frontal armor.
Different weapons used in the war are, atomic bombs, aircrafts, tanks, bombs, bazookas and battleships. These weapons were very useful in the war because it helped the allies defeat the axis and get rid of the Holocaust. The aircraft's would fly over and can drop hundreds of bombs. The B-24 liberators had four engines and they could travel three thousand miles, with 10 soldiers, 10 machine guns and many bombs. Another weapon used in the war was grenades, bombs and atomic bombs. These explosives can cause lots of damage to a village. When the americans created the atomic bombs it cost lots of money and years to fully complete it. A third type of weapon used are the tanks, these powerful vehicles were covered in armor and had very powerful guns,
The First World War was monumental in history because of all the new technology that was introduced. One particular area that developed during the Great War was the use of airplanes by the German and Allied militaries. In comparison, they both had different mentalities towards an invention that was only made successful less than a decade before the outbreak of war in 1914 by the Wright Brothers in North Carolina, United States. The German Military welcomed the idea with open arms, investing in its potential for military uses, whereas the Allies remained reserved and hesitant, claiming that aircraft could not be used for anything more offensive than reconnaissance missions. These differences in opinions later affected the development of each air force. The German military kept making monthly improvements to their equipment whereas the allied pilots were slow in their respective air forces evolution. However, there was a common progression that both militaries had which was the slow phasing out of the cavalry on either side due to the effectiveness of the aircrafts reconnaissance capabilities. During the World War One, the German military took advantage of the new technology available to them, which gave significant results, whereas the Allies had a more traditional mindset for the beginning of the conflict.
Aircraft and the war materials are important to any war. The aircraft in the war was very different for each person. They had many different types of aircraft depending on their way of flying. Also the designed it based on how “dangerous” they felt they were. During the war there were over forty different versions of the very successful aircraft from Germany. They wouldn’t build them based on if they were better for fighting or if they were better for flying. They based them on how the person flying them wanted the aircraft to be. This caused problems for Germany. It is very time consuming for Germany. It took a long time to build each of the planes. Since they were all different they
The British used very effective planes such as the Supermarine Spitfire, which was fast and durable, the Hawker Hurricane, which was a little bit bigger but had larger firepower, and the Boulton Paul Defiant, which were small planes that would lead the formation of flyers, and eventually lead the British to
The technological developments during the campaign affected the significance of the bombing of Germany during the Second World War. In 1939-1941, there were less planes, or navigational
The Battle of Okinawa was "...one of the bloodiest battles of the Second World War..." Various technology and tactics were used during the grueling war, from planes to naval fleets, guns to huge bombs. Various divisions "...were supported by naval artillery and carrier-based aircraft."(http://historywarsweapons.com/battle-of-okinawa/) A couple planes, for example. Both the SB2C Helldivers and F4U Corsairs fighter planes were used in battle. The SB2C Helldiver is a bombing aircraft. Because it was difficult to handle at low speeds, it was replaced by the SBD Dauntless. The F4U Corsair saw action in the Korean War as a carrier-based fighter aircraft. Some weapons that the Japanese used were some light tanks and semi automatic rifles.(on the ground battle).
World War 1: a war that will never be forgotten. France, a major force of the Allies, had war declared on them on August 3rd, 1914 by Germany. Little did they know that France was going to be a fiercer force then they could have anticipated. Germany was busy fighting a two-front war. On the east, they were raging war with Russia and in the west, were fighting French, British, and Belgian forces. Germany's plan was to destroy the western forces as quickly as possible so they could reinforce their forces in the east. At the end of 1914 and all throughout 1915, the war was at a standstill, and had become dominated by trench warfare. The French and British forces had the numbers advantage over the Germans, but the superiority the Germans
World War II was one of the deadliest military conflicts in history. There were many different battles that took place within this war; some more important than others. World War II began once Germany’s new dictator, Adolf Hitler, decided that he wanted to gain power for Germany and for himself. One of Hitler’s first moves in power was invading Poland on September 1, 1939. Many other countries became involved in this war because of the alliance system. The two sides during this war were the Allies and Axis powers. German, Italy and Japan were on the Axis powers; France, Britain, and the United States were on the Allies. Germany first began with the Blitzkrieg tactic meaning “lightning war”. This tactic is based on speed, surprise and was
Airplanes were in a similar position as tanks - the technology was really too new and immature for effective combat use. At best, the airplane provided better observation and reconnaissance ability than previously available, but, in a static trench-warfare setting (with the commonly poor European weather), the amount of benefit this provided is easy to overstate. Tactical and strategic bombing was non-existent; the airplane would have to wait for the wars of
