August 6th, 1945. It was just an ordinary day. I woke up early this morning to help a friend move some things. Everything was well until I saw the light. I plunged myself between two large rocks, no questions asked. When I was able to get a glackr of what has happened I saw nothing but destroyed homes and dust. I’ve never seen so much blood, it was unbearable. A lady and her injured boy came my way and I couldn't help but help them and take them to a shelter to get help. As I looked over the city, a thick black smoke filled the air. Then the thought hit me, what about my family? Immediately after I ran to search for my family. On the way to search for them I began to feel guilty. How could all these people be hurt, injured or even dead,
The battle for racial equality started to make headway during World War II leading to the question of this investigation: What was the impact of black segregation in the United States military during World War II? World War II, according to historian Stephen Ambrose was “The world’s greatest democracy fought the world’s greatest racist with a segregated army” (Ambrose Citizen Soldier) This quote from Ambrose accurately describes the situation that African Americans were facing during World War II, however, despite public outcry, they proved their worths through combat such as the Tuskegee Airmen or serving in vital support roles in the military. Their role in the war also provided a stage
“Just another day at the office” my Sergeant said. It was June 3rd, 1944, we were preparing for one of the biggest missions of the century. We would be named the 101st Airborne Division and it would be one of the worst turning points in my life. We were training for over a year for this day. We had to act fast because it was right before D-Day.
If I could go back to any time in the world, I would go back to France in October 1944 on the Western Front. World War Two has always interested me. Being able to see the revolutionary weapons would be incredible. I would also love to take part in such a historic and epic war. War is a horrible event that plays a major part in human development.
12th March 1915: The day hadn’t started out differently to any other day. I had just been out to milk the cows and feed the calves. As I was walking back to the farmhouse for breakfast, I met Dad, who had come back from the markets. He stopped the truck beside me and wouldn’t look me straight in the eye. That was when I knew there was something wrong. He wordlessly passed a brown envelope out of the truck window. “GOVERNMENT OF NEW ZEALAND” was emblazoned in bold red print across the front. My heart lurched, constricting my throat. As I opened it, my worst fear was confirmed. In small lettering it announced, “Mr Michael Jones, we need you to protect our country.”
“Catherine, we have another solider!” yells my mom. Ever since we started building our home the war has moved closer and closer to us. Now we are known as a “hospital” to them. Basically if someone gets injured they come to us and we have to tend to them. Clean up their wounds, aid to their fractures. Nurse them back to health so they can keep fighting. After I heard my mom say that I rushed down the steps of the loft to assist him in. He limping and look like he could just collapse if he didn’t have the other solider to lean on.
Standing at a cremation ground the men with white mask walked over to me and took my brother of my back, they held his by one hand and two feet then placed him in the fire. I stood there without moving and watched the flames. I bite my lip so hard that it shone blood. The flames burned low like the sun going down. I turned around and walked silently away.
I am private 1st class J.J. Roberts from 28th infantry division, and in 1942 my sergeant told my buddies and I to go ahead and scout out the village. We were least than 5 yards away went we hear the explosion. Then, my buddies drop to the ground and was bleeding out, and I run and run until a blizzard came. I could feel the cold wind swept across the field and it made my whole body shiver, I knew I had to find shelter before the weather or the Nazi destroy me. I found an old barn that wasn’t destroyed by the war, and I stay there always altered and watching for wild game to eat. I wait weeks eating rats and running lower on my water reservoir. The whooshing sound the winds of the blizzard made make my body tired and I start to drift away. I
I have never once considered the possibility of WWIII. To me, I’ve always lived in my own protective bubble: living under the same roof with both of my parents, eating three meals a day, thinking that the most traumatic thing in my life was when Rhannon Zhang made fun of my speech impediment in second grade.
turning my head again I saw Simon dive to my aid. He did not utter a
My hands were covered in blood.. It was only a matter of time till they caught me.. I could hear the roaring of the wind. The heavy breathing coming from my own chest.. My stomach ached in pain. I could feel the tears beginning to escape from my eyes...
The unfortunate World War II (WWII) began On September 1st 1939 and it ended in the year of 1945. Even though this war only lasted six years, it cost more than 60 million lives. Except Germany, led by Adolf Hitler, another great power was the Soviet Union, led by Joseph Stalin. Stalin and Hitler signed a nonaggression pact that stated that they would not fight against each other in the war, and both agreed to divide Poland between them. Not only that but USSR (United Soviet Socialist Republic) would also take over Finland, and Baltic countries such as Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. After signing the pact, Hitler invaded Poland, by using blitzkrieg strategy, or lighting war. This strategy involved fast moving tanks and airplanes bombing
When the young are growing up they aspire to be fireman, superheros and other heroes whose names may never be forgotten, or never known, the unsung heroes or the valiant legends of the past when told in the distant future. This was especially true when I was a youngin’ yearning for my chance at glory, heroism, a chance for your name to be written in stone, remembered as a legend of the past such as Achilles, Hector, Leonidas and the 300, Alexander the Great, Caesar Augustus, Charlemagne and more recently the Desert Fox a.k.a Field Marshal Erwin Rommel. These are the legends of the past that I wanted to aspire to be, wanting to be a great taction, a soldier with honor and duty, but as one grows up as does your plans for the future. Consequently this schooling turned my desire of being a General Eisenhower in World War Two, to that of
I live in Great Britain with my family. We are a small family. I have my amazing and caring mother, Cedder Rose Rowland, and my little sister, Sequoia. My mother is going through a difficult struggle at the moment. It has not been long since the death of my father and we all are not coping well. It is April 9, 1919 and class was hard for me today. We had to discuss the war, but it is so hard for me to talk about it since my father passed. We discussed the battle of Arras. The battle my father died in. It was October of 1914 and the French army attempted an attack on the Western Front where the German forces laid. The French moved through Arras and Lens, but had to withdraw after the German counter attack. The French army kept Arras, but the Germans kept control of Lens. After this we discussed many other battles in class, but none as memorable to me as the battle of Arras.
I live in the big capital of Germany, Berlin. I live with my mother Ilse, my father Frank, and my younger sister Susanne. We were a normal everyday religious Jewish family. It was a pretty big city, but that’s what made Berlin Berlin. They were not that many farms, but mostly tall buildings. You could never find a moment of silence outside with all the noisy people. I lived in a large bodacious house with servants, that was not how people Berlin lived typically. When I went to school, I would see people on the sides of the street stricken with poverty. All around, people were still happy and they were making the most of what they have. Their was talk that there would be a new leader who had it in for people like me, Jews. My life was normal
There I was in a room with finish time machine I built. It took two years and a few bucks, my parents’. All I have to do is get in and press the big red button. “This will be fun’’ I was thinking in my head. So I got and set the time to 1939, World War II. To fight in the war as a soldier for any where. I teleported to Germany this was the least place I wanted to be. I spawn in Berlin, Germany. They just knock down the door as soon as I came. German soldiers two of them said “ Join the army or we kill you now” I said “ I would be out in a minute, I need to get my possessions.” When I was finish I walk to the jeep and got in the back. The Germans ask me few questions like, how old are, What city I came from, Somehow I got taller now I was
