The typical trial for someone who is accused of witch craft is had to go through a series of trials. which consisted of having to pass a test on reciting the lords prayer,and a examination of the body to make sure their was no witches marks, but most importantly was a confession. The least bit of evidence could be used to convict a person just as little as someone thinking that they were a witch are that they are up to witch craft. Witchcraft has been around since the beginning of time. People used this as an explanation for good and bad things that they didn’t understand otherwise. Ancient to Modern day, there have always been very diverse theories on the idea of witchcraft. The word “witchcraft” derives from the Saxon wicca and translates to “wise person.” Wicca is the religion started by Gerald B. Gardner in the 1940s and has definable beliefs. The believe in the worship in a God or Goddess.. Its Indo-European root comes from the word “weik” and is related to words in multiple western regions like “magic’ and “religion.” Through the nineteenth and twentieth centuries the interpretation of “witches” or “witchcraft” has varied. Whether they are evil or magical is very harshly debated and argued.

I found the section about how witches can shift shape into any creatures they want to be was very interesting. One of the form that they could transformed into was a wolf, which they would use to attack people, mainly their neighbor. I found this interesting because it seem like these attacks from a humanoid wolf-like creature is what give rise to many folklores and legends about the werewolves. It was interesting to learn that the possible origin of werewolves could have derived from witches as well. I also found it interesting that witches can separate their soul from their body and fly off to other location. Although unlikely, this separation of soul from the physical body could be responsible for the paranormal accounts that people encountered
