I found the section about how witches can shift shape into any creatures they want to be was very interesting. One of the form that they could transformed into was a wolf, which they would use to attack people, mainly their neighbor. I found this interesting because it seem like these attacks from a humanoid wolf-like creature is what give rise to many folklores and legends about the werewolves. It was interesting to learn that the possible origin of werewolves could have derived from witches as well. I also found it interesting that witches can separate their soul from their body and fly off to other location. Although unlikely, this separation of soul from the physical body could be responsible for the paranormal accounts that people encountered
For my ethnography paper, I analyzed Witching Culture: Folklore and Neo-Paganism in America by Sabina Magliocco. This book is part of a series among other ethnography books. Witching Culture is an ethnography about a religious movement in North America. This religious movement is Neo-Paganism and witchcraft, which are basically the same thing. In the book, Magliocco describes how anthropology and folklore are important aspects to the religious movement. She explores the different practices and beliefs of modern Pagans, as well as witches. There were three major themes that stood out to me the most. These themes were the nature of religion, the nature of the religious world, and the types of authority in the book.
I read the Fantasy book American Chillers Wisconsin Werewolves by Jonathan Rand. This book is 576 pages. According to Amazon a customer said ‘’What you see is what you get! No complaints!’’ I think the intended audience for this book is grades 3-6 because this book Is too hard for 2nd graders and too easy for 7th graders.
Idea of witches date back to the Renaissance and the period in history known as the witch craze.
The author did not change my mind about supernatural creatures and witchcraft though. Supernatural creatures and witchcraft is something that I wouldn’t think is believable so the fact that these people went through extreme measures to stop witchcraft is surprising to me. It seemed like the hunters did everything in their power to stop the spread of witchcraft like if it were a virus. It also surprises me that they believe that Satan is walking among us and you can trade your soul for money, power, or even revenge. If that were true then I’m certain that you would be hearing about It daily. I think that witchcraft was all in their head and when the two girls said they were getting “bitten and pinched”, I think they were just coming down with some sort of sickness that no one has experienced yet. People back then took things to the next level without really thinking about what could really be
Metamorphoses of the Werewolf is a book that charts the evolution, growth and changes of werewolf stories “from Antiquity Throughout the Renaissance.” Each chapter focuses on a tale or set of myths in different time periods, and analyzes them, comparing and contrasting, as well as theorizing the meaning behind them based on textual evidence, mainly from church and court documents. Through this method, Ms. Sconduto points out direct correlations between werewolves and the belief systems of the churches in power.
Long Ago in the 1500's there used to be a mobilization of witches. They were formed together to protect the people of Restaria. Furthermore it was over 20 witches within the radicalized group, all of them ran from Restaria. All except Seven they stayed as a united front to protect their town from the demons who rose through the night in the air. Nevertheless after the bloody war the witches bodies were never found. Also their nemesis were left on the ground to see. The whole town saw what happened but no one could believe it. Years, Centuries later as time grew and decades past. The witches tale became a folklore they started becoming bed time stories, pictographs, ideas for movie directors. Along the older generations it brought back nostalgia
Before I read this book, heard, or even much less understood the history behind the Salem witch trails in my History or English classes, I really didn’t know much about the history of these horrible events that condemned a lot of innocent women to death.
The hysteria, craze, trials, and deaths, still rest an unsolved case. The theories of politics, rivalries, religion and the “circle girls” seem the most believable, in my eyes. However, as the happenings in Salem village still continue to mislead and amaze not only historians, but many others, the witch trials lie a great turning point for Salem, and the lives of many; let alone
To completely understand the history of New England witchcraft you have to understand the role of colonial women. The author of this book, Carol Karlsen, used a lot of Secondary and primary sources to support her thesis. She uses first hand accounts of witch

The Salem Witch Hunt by Richard Godbeer is a collection of brief documents over the history of witch trials in 1692 (Publisher Bedford/St Martin’s 2011). The book is organized by dates in order which the events occurred in. He describes the cause of fear and chaos that rose throughout the Puritans and others. Before the documents, Godbeer would give a basic run down on a claim before going into great detail to explain the event in the documents. Some of the events that occurred in The Salem Witch Hunt were strange and outrageous. The Salem Witch Hunt is the most controversial in American history and people like me questioned if it was even real. The start of the witch hunt makes me wonder if any of this actually happened and how the Puritans took everything overboard. However Godbeer does a good job on informing you and explaining every assertion with his documents.
Family is a very important thing. Everyone on the face of this Earth deserves a family. We’ve all been told that some relationships are temporary and that family is forever. But what happens when that family betrays you? What happens when the parents that swore to love us turn their backs on us? A prime example of this is Niklaus Mikaelson, the original vampire werewolf hybrid off the hit TV show The Originals. “Niklaus is the most hated and feared amongst all the originals, but those who fear him seek his approval”. Truer words couldn’t have been spoken from Niklaus’s brother Elijah Mikaelson. Niklaus has gained a reputation for himself as being the most sadistic, diabolic, and unemotional vampire in history. Of course, the history of vampires start with Niklaus’s family, the Mikaelson’s are the first vampires ever, The Originals. After the death of their brother Henrik, mothers Esther Mikaelson, the original witches, turned her family into vampires to protect themselves. But Niklaus was not born this evil and scary vampire, he was made this ways. Years of mental and physical torment from his parents shaped Niklaus into the paranoid, sadistic and irrational vampire that he is today. Niklaus lacked a stable up bringing from his parents like we’re used to in today’s society. An unstable upbringing can produce an unstable child, let alone an unstable vampire. Niklaus parents but play different but prominent roles in his development as a person.
Volunteering is such a self-fulfilling action that a person can carry out in their community. Volunteering in a public or private institution is such a magnificent stepping stone in life, volunteers learn multiple skills that can be used throughout the rest of their lives. Ever since 2011, my summers were spent volunteering at the Westland Area Public Library assisting community members register and receive awards for the summer reading program. This volunteering experience assisted me in acquiring social skills, the ability to work efficiently, and the ability to work with others as a team.
Thorough out life we need to choose a path in life. This is the hardest decision we can make because this is what determines our future and not choosing the right one can lead to poverty or sadness for the rest of our lives. Choosing between our parents can be one decision but which parent do we chose? We love both of them equally but how will they feel when you pick the other? Another issue is choosing what to do with your life in total. Not all of us know what we want to do in life and our parents just telling us to do what’s best doesn’t always help. Which path do we take? How do we know what’s better for us? Even having to choose can lead to sadness, so what do we do?
