Decent Essays

A hero is somebody who inflicts an unforgettable act of positivity, either for their community or towards the world. Heroes require certain qualities that will cause them to be their very best. These qualities include extreme willpower, durability, and independence. Although many people think it’s difficult being a hero, there have been many ordinary men and women throughout history that have influenced the society we live in today. Independence is when no matter what the people around you are doing and what they think of you, no matter how insignificant you may seem, you still walk your own path and make your own decisions. A person whom I think displayed this trait would be Charles Lebovitz. The court of Scottsboro, Alabama hired Charles Lebovitz to defend nine african-american boys charged with rape. At this point of time in the Jim Crow South, it would be almost impossible to win, as blacks were not at all equal to the white southerners. Lebovitz walked into the case knowing that it would be a biased loss, and so did the courtroom. In the end, Charles did not give up and gave everything he could do, not only for the money, but because he believed it was the right thing to do for these innocent people. He believed that all Americans should have the right to a free trial, no matter what your race is. In conclusion, every hero displays a quality that could help them change the world. It could be willpower, durability, independence, or even one that I have not listed. As a result of these traits, many national to international heroes have spawned, like Franklin Roosevelt, Gandhi, and Charles Lebovitz. These unforgettable leaders have revolutionized our way of acting, thinking, and speaking in a voice worthy capable of making history. Word Count:
