Although Shakespeare and his work have proven themselves significant and have been able to last to even the modern day, much of Shakespeare’s life is a mystery. The only two primary sources that can be used to look at Shakespeare’s life are his works, his legal documents, and his church documents.
Childhood
William Shakespeare was born in Stratford on April 23, 1564 and he was later baptized on April 26, 1564. His parents were John Shakespeare and Mary Arden. William was the third of eight children, three of which died in childhood. John was a merchant and high bailiff in Stratford. Because he held a position of an official in Stratford, his children would likely have been waived tuition for their education. Although there are no records to prove it, historians infer that Shakespeare went to the Stratford Grammar School due to his knowledge of Latin and Classical Greek. Because his tuition was waived, Shakespeare was able to learn writing free of cost, and this likely had a huge effect on the brilliance of his writing later in his life.

This time period between 1585 and 1592 is called “The Lost Years” as no one is fully certain as to what Shakespeare did during that time period. Between these seven years, Shakespeare went from a married man with three children in the small town of Stratford to a successful playwright and part owner of a theater company in London. Much of what happened during these “Lost Years” is merely speculation. It is said that Shakespeare was fond of poaching and that he poached deer and rabbits from Sir Thomas Lucy from Stratford. Many say that Shakespeare had to leave Stratford in fear of the punishment that Lucy would have given him. Others say that Shakespeare left Stratford with a band of actors or that he left as a merchant but much of what is said about these years is just
Christopher Marlowe or De vere could have been the author of Shakespeare's carrier. There is a controversy over the existence of William Shakespeare. In the article , “Was William shakespeare just a pseudonym”. Henry James once stated “I am… haunted by the conviction that the divine William is the biggest and most successful fraud ever practice on a patient world.”. There is two sides of the controversy that William was not what he said he was. In conclusion I agree with the Oxfordians that Shakespeare was just an actor not a poet and playwright.
Every prodigy has a story to him/her. Shakespeare started a young lad with 7 siblings in a small town to buddies with Queen Elizabeth I. Poets, Authors and playwrights throughout history love and worship his work. Such as John Dryden, who said, “He was the man who of all modern, perhaps ancient poets, had the largest and most comprehensive soul.” or the famous writer T.S. Eliot who said “I do not believe any writer has exposed this bovarysme, the human will to see things as they are not, more clearly than Shakespeare.”.(Malibard) People still admire him today because of his works, but don’t really seem to care for how he got there and that is what i am here to talk about. Shakespeare had a interesting life full of controversy. I'd like to
One of the most notorious authors in all of literature, who composed outstanding works such as Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, and The Tragedy of Julius Caesar, still continues to influence people of the 21st century. Even through his success as a writer, there is very little known about the life of William Shakespeare. “England’s greatest ever literary genius, who's huge and varied output remains internationally known nearly four centuries later, remains today a shadowy figure shrouded in myth, rumor, and supposition.”- Peter Brimacombe
William Shakespeare was a famous artist, poet, and author during the Elizabethan Era. Even though he died over 400 hundred years ago he is still talked about all over the world. A big question that is still asked today, is whether Shakespeare actually wrote all the works that he was attributed. Based on my own research and evidence I have gathered, I believe that William Shakespeare was not an author, but it was actually Sir Francis Bacon who wrote all the famous pieces of literature.

Although the amount of factual knowledge available about Shakespeare is surprisingly large for one of his station in life. “Many find it a little disappointing, for it is mostly gleaned from documents of an official character”. Dates of baptisms, marriages, deaths, and burials; wills, conveyances, legal processes. “Payments by the court—these are the dusty details”. There are, however, many contemporary allusions to him as a writer. These add a reasonable amount of flesh and blood to the biographical
William Shakespeare is known all around the world for his literature. Shakespeare was a very successful writer and we still see his work from 400 years ago today. He wrote 154 sonnets throughout his life. Shakespeare sonnets tell us what was happening in that time of his life. It is very easy to determine Shakespeare’s feelings and emotions through his sonnets. It is still a big mystery on his personal life, no one really knows much about him besides being an amazing writer. One shocking thing I learned is that he was in fact gay. He was in love and admired The Prince. In many of his sonnets he mentions the Fair Youth and how he is attracted to him. Shakespeare reveals his feelings towards the Prince in his sonnets. Overtime his feelings grow stronger for the youth and they begin to change. Shakespeare’s attitude towards The Prince changes overtime and is shown in sonnet 20 and 126. His feelings for the youth is very different from sonnet 20 to 126.

In the end, no one truly knows what happened, leaving scholars to call this period in his life the “lost years”. Only 11 years after the twins were born, and four years after his “lost years”, Shakespeare and Anne’s only son Hamnet died of unknown causes (Chanel). The feelings of love and loss he was put through is thought to have greatly affected his literary
