he was born on august 1,1809 he had a short life and accomplished a lot like he got his degree in law and then he moved to texas and then when he was forced to go defend the alamo he did live the first days of the attack but on the last day he died and the alamo had fallen his family had came to virginia in 1627 he got to fight in the probably most known battle in the state of texas and he was one of the first to go he was a brave soldier and did not retreat but he also did not listen to orders the orders given by sam houston were to destroy the alamo and blow it up but he did not listen to his commander he believed that the alamo chod be a great defence to fight off the mexicans he was the oldest of ten kids and when he joined the army he had his uniform specially made to fit him his family moved to a small farm and stayed there until he left for the army he left his wife and kids for texas and later she found him and got a divorce he signed the papers and also took his son and when he left for war he had his son stay with a nice family they had to give him back to his mother. The DeWolf family of Bristol, Rhode Island was one of the wealthiest families of their time and earned their fortune in the business of selling people (American Documentary Inc., 2008). There are certain things that people are remembered for throughout one’s life. And there is that moment that helps define one’s character or that moment can overshadows one’s accomplishments. Sam Houston’s refusal to accept the articles of secession served as an example of what he thought was his personal responsibility not only to himself but that of Texas. With that one moment in history, people quickly forgot and ignored what Sam Houston had done for Texas and the United States.

Sam Houston was as legend reports a big man about six foot and six inches tall. He was an exciting historical figure and war hero who was involved with much of the early development of our country and Texas. He was a soldier, lawyer, politician, businessman, and family man, whose name will be synonymous with nation heroes who played a vital part in the shaping of a young and prosperous country.
