I have never been a huge fan of vegetarian diets, meaning that I would never be a vegan myself. I truly believe that you need some animal fat in your diet to be healthy, not to mention I like meat and dairy products too much to give them up. If others want to choose that lifestyle I have no issues with it but I do wonder if it really can be healthy for a person not to eat any animal products, can your body get enough protein and fat to fill it's nutritional needs? Aren't our bodies made to eat meats and other animal products, and where do you get good fat and iron in your diet if you don't eat lean meat? What other nutrients are you not getting by not eating meat? Would cave men and women survived if they would have just eaten fruits and berries? But then I also wonder if our society would be a lot healthier if we all did in fact only eat a vegan diet and didn't have all these fats to over indulge. …show more content…
No known plant can give you vitamin B12, which is vital to blood and brain function and is involves in every cell function in the body. The other nutrients that are also only found in animal proteins that vegans lack in their diets are essential amino acids, Creatine, Carnosine, and Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA). Eating meat is something that we have been doing for thousands of years and our bodies are made to eat meats and other animal
Eliminating all animal products from the diet increases the risk of certain nutritional deficiencies. Micronutrients of special concern for the vegan include vitamins B-12 and D, calcium, fatty acids such as omega 3 which can be obtained from oily fish. Unless vegans regularly consume foods that are fortified with these nutrients, appropriate dietary/vitamin supplements need to be consumed. Iron deficiency which can cause anaemia will also be a concern as they do not consume any red meat to be able to get the iron their body requires.
It has long been believed that animal products are an important element in a healthy diet, but recent discussions have become more common on whether they positively or negatively affect an individual's health. Many have argued that animal products are essential to a healthy life, and make them the staple of their diet. But being Vegan vastly increases your health, decreases your negative impact on the planet, and saves countless innocent animals from a meaningless death.
If a person looked around and consumed the right amount of what they were eating, there would be absolutely no problems while on this diet. Also, there can be more variety achieved in this diet by consuming new and different types of fruits, and vegetables. There are even meat substitutes by a brand called MorningStar. In addition to getting all the correct supplements the human body needs, while on the vegan diet a person would not eat red meat or drink milk. By not consuming red meat, this allows for the digestive pathway to work more efficiently because it takes about three days to fully digest any red meat. Not consuming red meat also lowers your cholesterol, preventing gallstones, plaque buildup in arteries, and heart attacks. As for not consuming milk, the top three countries on the International Milk Genomics Consortium milk consuming list (Finland, Netherlands, and Sweden) are also the top three countries with the weakest bone structure. This appears quite deceiving given that children drink milk so they can develop a strong bone structure. It is also proven that almond milk has 50% more calcium than regular cow 's milk. Given this information, milk does not determine the strength of a person 's bones. Not consuming red meat will also lead a person to a better future with less bills to pay and no health risk. Overall, by switching over to the vegan diet
Hamilton The story of Alexander Hamilton begins with Aaron Burr asking how a poor orphan from the Caribbean can rise up to be a scholar and a prominent figure in American history. As a child from a broken marriage and an orphan after his mother died, Hamilton did not want his troubled past to define him. This led him to strive for excellence and fight for what he believed in despite the descent of his colleagues.
Back during the medieval times in England religion was a very sacred thing, the church had more power than the king. Christianity was not only a major part of people's lives but also a major part of English society. When Henry VIII had come into power, however, the changes made to England's religion prompted problems, people became confused and the church became divided. This division was only but a precursor; because of King Henry VIII the English became divided which only worsened after the country's religion was changed several times after King Henry, subgroups of religious beliefs began to appear and those subgroups were discriminated against, so to escape the persecution those people fled to North America.
As a solely plant based diet, vegans do not ingest any meat or dairy products, including fish. On the whole, people who remove the excess fats and proteins found in meat and dairy are healthier, and often more physically fit. While the human body does require fat and protein to function correctly, the amounts are negligible compared to the levels of both that we generally ingest daily. It is well understood that too much fat in the human diet can be unhealthy, and eventually deadly. No one, however, ever thinks that we may be eating too much protein.
Being a vegetarian can be difficult for many. It could be tough getting protein if one cannot eat the meat they’ve eaten all their lives. For example, “Humans are taxonomically omnivorous and meat provides several essential nutrients unavailable in plant sources. Meat is specifically valuable as a source of omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin B12, protein and highly bioavailable iron” (Bat & Fayaz). Although nuts carry plenty of nutrients and protein, they have very small serving sizes and many are allergic. As well, people can be very picky, which would be hard for someone to receive their daily nutrients if they do not like foods such as beans or tofu which many vegetarians rely on for their protein. Although these alternatives do supply protein, sometimes it is not enough, and vegetarians have to consume supplements such as protein pills to grasp their missing nutrients.
The meat provides essential protein for our working bodies and milk supplies up with calcium so we can grow big and strong. It is drilled into our head that we will not lead a healthy life if these items are missing. This however is not true, although it s true that humans need protein and calcium to survive, milk and animal meat are not the best sources to get these from. Many plants and nuts have higher calcium and way more nutrients with no added cholesterol (Stepanaik 33). There is absolutely no reason for us to use animals to get these sources. An article, For Your Health, from Vegan.org argues that humans do not need to consume animal products and that they lead to a number of diseases. The author states that the fat and proteins in meats and cow milk are much too high for human consumption and have been linked to heart disease, diabetes, obesity, and a number of other conditions. Humans can get all the protein, calcium, and other nutrients from non animal sources. The author wants humans to stop ingesting animal products in order to be much healthier and to be with less disease. Heart
Antioxidants and thousands of phytochemicals that protect the body and support good health. Overall vegetarians have a longer life expectancy and lower rates of heart disease, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, cancer, obesity, osteoporosis, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and the list goes on. But don’t just take my word for it, supports for vegetarian diets comes from numerous organizations including the American cancer society, American College of Cardiology, the Mayo Clinic, Harvard School of public and, the national institutes of Health which says, “Vegetarians may be missing out on grilled hamburgers at picnics, but they tend to also miss out on the major health problems that plagued many Americans”. Just look at the difference in heart disease the number one killer of American, which is twice its size, between those who eat meat and those who are vegetarian. The progression of some of the diseases can not only be halted but reversed in as little as just two to three weeks by switching to a plant based diet. Reducing and eliminating the consumption of meat and meat products with a greener diet rich in fruits, vegetables, nuts seed and whole grains will lead to a healthier world.
Many Americans celebrate a wide variety of holidays that memorializes an event that changed history or feelings of love, gratitude and prosperity. However, on Halloween many dress in haunting costumes, go door to door for an overload of candy, carve silly and scary pictures into pumpkins, and watch horror films to celebrate, with out a clear reason to why. There is no love or gratitude linked to this holiday, only an eerie evil and mischief. All of our most illogical fears come to life in haunted houses, movies, books and cemetery walks. Not only on October 31, we prepare and celebrate the entire month, but it is not common knowledge as to why we do this all.
The first thing that usually comes to one’s mind when they hear the word Veganism is healthy. However, many points would debate against and for this very statement. There are many researches that prove the vegan diet is a healthy one and that this diet is better than a normal animal product eating one, however none proving that it is better than all the other diets, like some people claim the plant-eating one to be. Being a vegan means that you miss essential nutrients on a day to day basis such as vitamins, iron, zinc and calcium just to name a few. As well as this, when you get rid of all these animal products you are at a much higher risk of developing a nutritional deficiency and becoming under-weight. Looking
Meat is essential in getting the right nutrients or protein. However, vegans can easily substitute meat with vegetables, tofu, or any other foods. It is much easier to receive your proteins from green vegetables, fruits, kidney beans, nut butters, and lentils. Just because they don’t drink milk doesn’t mean they’re lacking calcium. Simply eating some spinach will do the trick.
Generally, people have misconception that this diet lacks proper nuterients as one can get calcium, proteins, and other minerals through the animal products only. But, the fact is that the nutritional needs can be covered without consuming animal products. You can get enough protein with nuts, legumes, seeds, grains, soy products and cereals. For calcium, include leafy greens, seeds, dried fruits and bread in your die. So, follow your heart, lead a vegan lifestyle and enjoy the food.
Some would not be able to live without eating any animal products in their diets, such as, meat, fish, poultry, eggs, dairy products, and honey. For vegans, however, this is a normal way of life. Vegans are frequently misunderstood as either people who have eating disorders, or an unnatural passion for animal rights. It is time for people to realize that veganism, a challenging yet rewarding lifestyle, goes way beyond being skinny or caring for animals. In reality, veganism can be extremely advantageous to anyone who adapts it as a way of life and has many different benefits that come along with it.
