Ever since I was young, I have had an inkling for leadership and taking charge in turbulent situations, this is why from a young age it has been my aspiration to one day become a great and reputable leader. This factor and many have contributed to my decision to contest for the post of class governor. The class governorship post is no cake walk, it involves long days and nights and always constantly having to serve as an example to the other students. If I am allowed to take up the mantle one of my first acts would be to petition the school officials to prohibit the use of mobile phones within school hours. These gadgets are the root of many distractions and complications and their prohibition would go a long way in reducing the number
“Leadership – leadership is about taking responsibility, not making excuses.” This quote by Mitt Romney exemplifies the reason why I am fit to become the Historian of the Rocky Run Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society. The reason why I want to be the Historian of NJHS is because I know I can make a positive impact on this group. In addition, I enjoy doing all the activities a Historian would do, like taking pictures, or recording details. I am capable of running for office because I am responsible, creative, and organized. Not only am I suitable to become Historian, but also, I have some ideas that we all can implement. Although this is not in the description of the position, if I become officer in the future, all the office members
Firstly, in my Academic Career, I have held a multitude of leadership roles. My sophomore year , I was a class representative for Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America, commonly known as FCCLA. It was my duty to alert members and keep them up to date regarding meetings and activities. As a representative of FCCLA, I learned how to work as a unit leader and a team member. That same school year, I ran for the district office of secretary for FCCLA. The nomination and election process, gave me the opportunity to grow and nurture my leadership abilities. It was eminently challenging; but I learned the importance of discipline and hard work. I accomplished my goal and was nominated Secretary for FCCLA. This office allowed me to meet plenty
As a committed member of the SGA/Leadership class, I was taught to lead by example. I achieved missions to instill values of integrity, passion, and service as I cooperated that into my school and community. The class handed me the opportunity to host school-sponsored events while giving me a hands-on, authentic opportunity to learn and develop leadership skills for the future and put the skills learned into practice through the coordination of planning and implementing events. I was nominated to chair numerous committees. Through delegating tasks, working tight-knit with others, laying a foundation for rules, integrity, and values, I earned credibility. My leadership skills spoke "do as I do" and not "do what I say" which enabled others
It is evident that Schulich Leaders are individuals who possess the ability to leave an impressionable impact on their school and beyond. Throughout my educational pathway, I have consistently dedicated my time and effort for the greater good of my fellow students, staff, and community members. I have always been naturally inclined to lead individuals, as it gives me the opportunity to express and develop my capabilities as an exemplary role model. Particularly, I demonstrate these characteristics through a variety of extracurricular activities and clubs, where my tendency to propose, carry out, and offer insight on the issues at hand never goes unnoticed. Due to the fact that I am a diligent and thoughtful individual who never rests until my endeavours materialize lends to the notion that I will undoubtedly make an outstanding Schulich Leader.
Being a leader has always been extremely important to me. The past few years I have held many leadership positions to deepen my skills as a leader. Some of my most notable leadership positions of high school were that I was the secretary of my class, the secretary of my school’s National Honor Society, a member of the Youth Council for the Teen Leadership Corps, and a Student Ambassador for my high school. I have recently been chosen as a Peer Leader for the College of Business Administration (CBA), meaning that I will be available to help incoming freshman with whatever they may need as they make the transition to college. I was also chosen by the dean to give a speech at one of the largest high school visits for the CBA in order to inspire students to choose to come to Bowling Green. This was a very important experience for me because I had many high school seniors come up to me after the speech and ask me questions and reached out for advice from me. It is important to me that people value my advice because I believe that giving good advice is an imperative part of being a leader.
This has kept me out of many of the elected leadership positions in our school. However, there are many other ways that I exemplify my role as a leader. One of these ways is by being a part of athletics. I have always felt like a leader in this environment, as I have always exceeded at sports. As an underclassman, I would be the one who helped out with cleaning up, and pushed my teammates to get better. Being apart of these smaller groups allows me to feel more comfortable when leading others. I also lead the team to getting better by helping to set up practices when the coaches were not allowed to coach in the off season. This made me a better leader in everyday life as I am now a more active leader. I lead in group projects, telling people what needs to be done and when. I make sure people are on track, and do not act out. Despite not being a leader to the many, I have still been able to make a big difference by being a leader in my everyday life as an athlete and a
Cell-phones are now and day apart of everyday life. Certain classes should allow students to use cell phones. With Social Media, Apps, the internet, and communication
People all around the world have many electronic devices, and there are abundant amounts of freedom that come with them. There are so many different technologies to choose from, but one that seems to be quite common among people of all ages, are cell phones. Such technology is great for many uses, but it is not always appropriate in certain settings. The principal at my school has adopted a new policy that bans the use of cell phones during school hours. I support my principal’s decision. Cell phones can be distractions in many ways to students during school. They can cause conflicts between fellow students and between students and teachers. Allowing cell phones during school hours also basically gives students permission to not pay
It’s my senior year, the last year I get to be a (quote on quote) “kid”. I want to be able to leave Mendocino High School with my signature mark and I want to be able to say that I create something advantageous for the school. And I feel like moving a tier higher--attempting to become the president of the overall student body will position me to fulfil, I believe, my obligations to the school. Nevertheless, that status mandates assiduous ethics, and to mention the ability to cooperate with the entire student body to make the school a better place. When it comes to diligent ethics, I tend to do well. I always attempt to place myself and or team in an exultant situation. Although I feel confident about my efforts leading the Junior class this year, I am not sure how well I will cope with a larger scale lead role. I am hoping that Boy’s State will provide me with the experience and knowledge to be successful in my pursuit. Boy’s State is the quintessential program for me to acquire realistic government dexterities and to also evolve and perfect my social attributes. Boy’s State will allow me to experience, a tremendously broad multifarious group of students with essentially similar goals like myself in a mock-government. I cannot picture any other ideal opportunity like this! Not only will the program itself embed important skills into me, but to have a chance to learn from other students, to view how they perceive situations, and pick up his or her tactics, would be I think, one of the most valuable teachings that the program can produce. This will construct a fitter me that is well accustomed to work with other motivated students to achieve significance. Ultimately making the entire student body better citizens so we can effectively comprehend and support our school’s desires. And to return from the program with new visions and a varied arsenal of skills, will surely better adapt me for the great
I occupy my time in clubs and activities that both captivate my interest and are most important for my peers and me. These include but are not limited to my positions in Link Crew, Student Council, and Senior Board. They range from Senior Class Representative to Vice President. Many of my teachers and mentors have identified a characteristic of mine as a great leader, and I wanted to improve on these skills. I don't dominate discussion or action, I simply guide it. I take all of my positions seriously and always bring my best attitude; my leadership methods distinguish me from other
As I was growing up, I naturally looked for ways to help my community. It was an concept that I was extremely fond and passionate about at an early age. Through this, leadership came easily and almost inherently. When high school came I emerged myself within the wide variety of activities. It was just an effortless tendency. I loved being involved, therefore I got myself involved. As a freshmen, I was at the bottom and I watched in amazement of how the upperclassmen led with such confidence and drive. I aspired to be like them one day. With this large desire to make my mark in my small community, I naturally took on leadership roles because I wanted to make an impact, a lasting impact. John Quincy Adams once said, “If your actions inspire others
Have you ever heard of the gruesome Columbine High School massacre? This incident occurred on April 20th 1999 and involved two students embarking on a shooting rampage, killing twelve students, a teacher and wounding twenty three others. Unfortunately during this incident, the school 's most easily accessible phone was on the complete other side of the school in the library. Perhaps some of these lives could have been saved if the students in this class had cell phones that they could 've used to contact the authorities more quickly. The issue we are addressing today is the usage of cellular devices in educational facilities. Both Cameron and myself believe that cell phone usage is of extreme convenience, and has academically beneficial
Today, we would like to discuss why cell phone use should be allowed while in school and how allowing cell phones during school hours can
Smartphones have become a part of everyone’s body. Almost everything can be done through smart phones. Paying bills, doing grocery, buying food, and more time consuming tasks can all be done almost instantly by smartphones. Many jobs and institutions today do not allow the use of smartphones during a certain time, especially schools. Prohibition of cell phones in school is a good idea to prevent students from getting distracted. However, high school students should be allowed to access their cell phones at school, because high school students are mature enough to use their cell phones productively and beneficially. Having access to internet is very important to high school students. Many students could not afford to have all kinds of devices, such as laptop, tablets, and cell phones. Entirely banning the usage of cell phones can make students hate the school causing them to be more arrogant.
As I reflect on the results of the assessments mentioned above, I have learned that my character traits persuade me to be a leader that looks after the well-being of all individuals, teachers and students. It can also be determined, that as a leader I will abide to policies and procedures and be able to make arrangements in order to collaborate and come to a consensus to reach a positive outcome. Furthermore, my hardworking character will strive to
