Online school is better than traditional school because they can work at their own pace, there is easier contact with teachers, and they have a more flexible schedule. Online school normally allows students to view things as many times as they need while at traditional school, students can only review the thing they are learning once. Also, if students at an online school get busy with anything else, or need longer to do an assignment than what amount of time would be given at a traditional school, then they can still finish the assignment as well as they could with their extra time. Also, students can work at their own pace to get work done. Some students need more time to get some things done. If they do online school, they will have almost as much time as they need throughout a certain amount of time. Students can review anything they need to as many times as they need to fully comprehend what they are learning. Some students need to view things many times to fully …show more content…
At traditional schools it is harder for the students to talk to their teachers because of social anxiety or because the teachers are dealing with 20 or more students at a time. Contacting the teachers is easier and less stressful for students. Some students may have social anxiety so it may be harder to talk to the teacher or the teacher could be dealing with other students and you wouldn't get the time to talk to the teacher. There are several ways to contact the teacher depending on what the student is comfortable with. If a student is more comfortable with a specific way of contacting their teacher, then they can do it whatever way they please. It could be video chat, messaging,
The positive is that you can attend school at places such the local library at an airport and even on an airplane. The negative to this would be that because you can attend anywhere, you may tend to get distracted. The daily schedule is preset but is flexible to complete at the students own pace. Teachers are readily available via, phone, email, text and chat and provide one on one help. Students can also receive help from their learning coaches. Online students can have social interaction via video, chat and extra -curricular activities which may lower the chances of peer pressure and bullying. Online schools are cheaper as most of your school supplies you have at home, you don’t have to wear a uniform or buy special clothes and you don’t have to pay for many outside
Online school replacing standard schooling brings up some additional risks that were not as prevalent before. The chance of students cheating will be at an all time high. Much of the testing will be considered open book, but how can the instructor confirm who is taking the test? How can the instructor confirm who is managing the work? What if one student is doing the work of five? What if the parent(s) are helping more than they should? How can the students verify the instructor is knowledgeable? Most students attend school because they want to better themselves. However; some students will capitalize on an environment that opens up more risks that are impossible to manage in this new environment.
There are no facts supporting the statement that “you cannot learn as much online as in a classroom”. Everyone has their own needs for learning some people do better online in the privacy of their home where there are not any distractions, and some people need have face to face interaction in order to learn. Some people who are in online classes may learn more than those who are in a classroom. No matter what you choose the learning part is up to you and how committed you are to furthering your education.
Many students have a difficult time choosing between online education and traditional education. Both styles of education offer advantages and disadvantages to the student. There are many things to consider when making this life altering decision, such as, cost, convenience, time, social interaction, and technology. This information is meant to inform prospective students looking to further their education of the pros and cons of both online education and traditional education. Taking the steps to further your education is a big decision and one that should not be taken lightly. One should weigh all of his/her options and be well informed and certain of their choice before taking that leap.
Online schooling is no more considered a lesser road for acquiring a degree. In today's bustling surroundings conventional schooling is now and again impossible. People have duties of full time occupations and families that won't permit them to go to school full time for a long time to pick up an education. This is transforming online degrees into a practical better choice for some people who need a degree without putting their life on hold to do it.
I’ve experienced the differences between online school and traditional public school. The classroom setting was not a good fit and was very distracting. It was extremely difficult for me to learn and receive the proper information I needed to do well. I was unable to learn because of the fast pace, I and often had difficulty paying attention and keeping up with the assignments. However, the motivation the teachers gave me was tremendously helpful while I was
Learning in a traditional classroom requires you to get up and get ready by a certain time. You must find a sitter, if needed, as well as find a job that will work around you school schedule. If you have a doctor appointment or need to do something important, you must miss class for that. You have to find the extra time to do your makeup work and anything that you missed. Learning in an online setting, lets you work on the everyday task. If you have a job that requires you to work long hours; you can come home after a day of work and go online to start your class. You have the options to work ahead a little on the online course, compared to a traditional class where you can only work on assignments handed out at the time. Online classes give
There are many advantages to taking online classes rather than traditional college classes. One cause of students taking online classes is that they are much easier to fit into busy schedules. Online classes give students options to plan their classes and study times around the rest of their day. For instance, if a student has a job the material is always available no matter what time of the day it is. This allows the student to complete his or her class work at any time needed. Another advantage of having materials available online at all times is that students never have to schedule special trips to the library to complete assignments. Most online degrees do not require electives which means you can take the minimum amount of classes you need and still have time for other activities. The flexibility of
First, there is the fact that schools can only teach so many classes. This is becoming more distinct to many students across America, as budget cuts have eliminated some classes from a student’s choices. Having school online could solve that problem, as Andrew Wyrich wrote in the article, “Making a Virtual School Day Count.” Although this is true, there are other skills students are losing by doing online school. In Utah, a program was piloted in which children were provided an online preschool program in exchange for traditional preschool, as Emma Brown explains. “It’s also missing some ingredients- especially social and emotional learning- that many experts and parents consider central to the education of
Contrary to what some may believe, online learning doesn't equate to less work nor are the standards any lower than what one would expect from a traditional classroom environment. Online learning simply refers to the way in which the content
However, there are quite a few discussions on bringing a new type of school to light. Two of the articles I found “ A School for the future- 2025: Practical Futures Thinking” and Online Versus Traditional Face-To-Face Learning In a Large Introductory Course discusses the different types of schooling that could happen but not for quite some time. The articles focus on two classroom options, the face-to –face that we have now, and the online course. The studies showed that there was no real difference between scores for the two different classroom types. While there were no significant differences there are some clear benefits to using online courses. One of those benefits is cost-effectiveness. The courses could also be easier to schedule and students might actually be satisfied with convince, flexibility and independent learning. While it might be nice to not have to leave my house to go to school I do not think I would be as motivated to go to school if I had the choice to go. I mean right now I have the choice to go to school or not but my grade also depends on my attendance in my classes. If attendance is not part of your grade how many students will log onto their online class instead of logging onto
There are others, like myself, who feel that online learning is better. The supporters of this back their claim by stating that online classes can be more beneficial for teachers and students. For example, fewer distractions in a classroom like other students disrupting class. Students can come into class late after the teacher has already started class and cause a disruption or talk during the class. With online classes the student can control their environment. Also, a teacher can provide in writing just the basic information a student needs for an assignment. This way there is less of a chance for the student to get confused on the assignment when the topic
Unlike traditional classes, online classes allow for more flexibility. For instance, the student talked about in paragraph two that works from 9am to 5pm Monday through Friday and has to take care of children, would still be able to go to work and not loose quite as much precious family time if the student chooses online classes. This student could make the decision to study on lunch break or after the children are asleep. The lack of classmates can be just as much a blessing as having them sometimes. Every once in a while classmates can be a distraction and cause another student not to hear something that the instructor said. For this reason online classes are a great option since a student taking online classes can simply study away from other
There is both good and bad to online schools and every side does have a great opposition. Normally, as a person goes through school they gain many or all of the social skills needed from meeting, greeting and learning from other students. In theory it is great, although there are very many arguments that can be made against this as well. Like people that live far away from the school where it is an inconvenience to travel that far or students that have behavior issues, and also students that would like to do their schooling at home because of their very busy schedule. Online schooling would be a great way to help out the students facing all of these issues or problems.
It seems that technology is growing, improving, and changing at an exponential rate. Technology now affects every part of our lives from the time we get up to the time we go to bed, and even as we sleep. One of the major areas that has been affected by technology is education. At one time, the only option for students to complete their education was in a traditional classroom setting. There has become a major need for non-traditional education because there has been a growth in the amount of non-traditional students that exist in our society. The advancement of technology has
