Why Is Dreaming Big Important

Dreaming big inspires hope in us. It gives a way that we can be, no matter how unattainable it may seem, and gives a light at the end of the tunnel for us to follow. It gives safe haven from the troubles in our own lives. It gives us something to work towards, saying “I can be that!”, and a reason to trudge on through the endless cycle of deadlines, bureaucracy, paperwork, and ‘round-the-clock demands of a modern society. Dreaming big is how we cope with the stress, the constant uphill struggle, the insurmountable endeavour we face every day. Big dreams are not silly. They are not unachievable. They are a reason to live, to overcome adversity, to stay the course and make a change, in our lives or someone else’s. The world is a challenging place. The great document gives us rights, establishes citizenship, and constitutes a framework for government. However, it is not an all-pervading, self-repairing, self-sufficient, carbon-steel structure. It needs us, as citizens to partake in the maintenance of the Ship of State. Jury duty is essential to keep those sabotaging the integrity of the union in a state of separation from the rest of the world, and to keep those wrongly convicted with the rest of us. Taxes are a burden, yes, but if nobody paid them, the maintenance costs of the S.S America wouldn’t be covered, and the rivets would start popping out, one by one, sinking the nation. Roads would fall into disrepair. Bridges would crumble to ashes. Stadiums would become dilapidated. The burden of taxes is completely outweighed by the burden of 900 pounds weighing down on every square inch of the sunk ship of state. Without constant maintenance, such as removing detritus, dumping out water, checking shipments, rescuing people strewn across the sea, radioing land and other ships, and many other jobs, the ship would go
