We all have a calling in life. A few years ago while enjoying a delicious dinner with my family, I began to daydream staring through my kitchen window. Worried by the blank look in my eyes, my wife Kim leaned over towards me to ask what thoughts were going through my head. “I am having an epiphany”, I told her. I knew that if I push myself physically, emotionally, and spiritually I can succeed in the pursuit journey. Still staring out the window, I asked myself, “If I’m blessed to make it to age 85, would I look back and regret that I had never tried to serve my country as an officer and a coastguardsman?” The answer was an undeniable yes. Then I took a glimpse over at my son Mason, who also stood sitting at the table and thought to myself, …show more content…
In my own mind I’m a warrior that wants nothing less than to live out my purpose. I would be honored and privileged to be able to perform meaningful work that stands essential to the long term safety and security of our country. Often, officers are called upon to handle difficult and demanding tasks. For that reason it is important to mention my success in the classroom, workforce and most importantly, success at home. My greatest skill is being physically, emotionally, and spiritually balanced. I’m guided by a set of principles that have endured throughout my life. This unwavering foundation has given me the faith, courage and perseverance to pursue my dreams and see them through life’s foreseeable hurdles. In conclusion, I trust in my faith, abilities, and strong sense of direction. I’m confident that attending Officer Candidate School will provide the adequate knowledge and guidance on my progressive path to develop into an effective USCG officer while living out my purpose to serve my nation. All in all, I do not desire to receive a commission but to be given an opportunity to earn a commission in becoming an officer. Very Respectfully, Matthew David
Moreover , over the course of a cadets time in a Service Academy, he or she will be greatly challenged whether academically in the classes the cadet takes, or physically in the various forms of training that a cadet will take part in. If I attend a Service Academy , I expect to encounter challenges that will force me to adapt in order to overcome them. Physically, I expect to improve due rigorous activity. Academically, I expect to overcome mental barriers to succeed. I wish to attend a Service Academy so I can become an officer who is no stranger to
I get asked the same question all the time, why do you want to be in law enforcement? My answer: This world has far too many bad people out there and not enough good people. I want to fight the good fight, the best way I know how. By helping the people in my community. With each person I help I hope to spark a change in not only their lives but the lives of those around them. This spark will turn into a flame and then a burning fire of hope, that spreads across this world. This is my
I think it would be a great service for my country. I chose to further my education in the classroom and obtain my bachelors in criminal justice.
Since birth, a combination of experiences forged in me a unique mindset and determination making me the ideal candidate to attend the United States Military Academy West Point. Four years of education and service as an Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) cadet, together with my service as a member of a Christian mission team, when combined with my legacy as the namesake descendant of United States Army Master Sergeant George LaVance Kyzer, Missing in Action - Chosin Reservoir, Korea, provide me with an unparalleled knowledge of the duty, service, and sacrifice becoming a member of The United States Army commands. Therefore, I am the perfect candidate to represent South Carolina as a nominee to serve this country at the level
If I was a soldier I would want to help people in need because if there is someone with medical supplies, to help, we could have saved more soldiers. For example, Mr. Waldo
While I wish I was strong enough, honorable enough, and brave enough to serve the United States, I know that I will find a way to contribute to the success of those who do.
My goal of serving our country with meaningful purpose and responsibility is clear to me. I am confident that attending the United States Naval Academy is the most effective way for me to achieve this objective, and for this reason, I request your
I am auditioning to be an officer because I believe I can make Company a great experience for everyone on it and be a strong leader and representative of Cottonwood Dance. I think that having a strong leader is fundamental to the success of a group. My physics teacher, Ms. Richey, is someone I look up to as a leader; she makes class fun and engages us while still clearly getting the information across. She is also very confident in her abilities and will straight up shut you down (kindly) if you are trying to make up a physics scenario that is not possible. She is so intelligent yet fun that I aspire to be like her when I have to be a leader. I believe I am qualified to be an officer this year because I have had a couple of different
I have been surveying my options regarding my present and future career plan. As I consider various paths, one option remains outstanding and seems to fit my personality and my skill set to a tee. This option is that of the possible advancement within my region, as I hope to become promoted to a noncommissioned officer. The following essay will summarize the reasons as to what I believe makes a good noncommissioned officer, why I fit these criterion and for which reasons I wish to become an NCO.
I want to become an Army officer because I long for a career that will provide continual professional development opportunities while pushing me to reach my full potential as a leader, and will also position me to make a positive impact globally. I believe that by becoming an Army officer I can accomplish this because I have seen the success of those that have gone before me. I come from a family of people who have served in our nation’s military, and their lives are a testimony to the renowned individuals that the Army produces.
The United States Army is one of the main factors that allows America to be a free and democratic country. The Army defends, protects, and honors the United States of America. Ever since I was a young boy, I saw greatness in the United States Army and hoped to one day be a part of it. I always envisioned myself in a leadership position and when I decided to join the Army, I knew being an officer was for me. To me, being an officer in the U.S. Army is a career unlike any other. There are many opportunities as an officer in the Army to advance, further education, and grow as a person. The army allows you to switch your MOS and attend more training to further education or to change careers completely which is something
Millions of men and women have served in the armed forces before me and millions more will serve after. Some have paid the ultimate sacrifice; some lost and captured, others received wounds, physically and or emotionally, and that time
The reason why I want to attend the U.S. Service Academies is not only the goldmine of opportunity I will receive of an educational standpoint including benefits, but also the enrichment of character and self-development, into becoming one of the nation's most exemplary citizens through attending a military academy.
As a young man entering my senior year of high school, my mind races as I try to figure out what it is that I’ll commit my life to. What will be the driving passion, the purpose of my existence, the reason I get out of bed every morning to face another day of this life? Some people would try to encourage me to choose a career simply for its potential to make me wealthy. However, looking at the degenerate lives of the rich and the famous around the world, its apparent to me that the pursuit of earthly riches alone isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be. I’d rather spend my days in pursuit of something more fulfilling. As far as I can tell from my
What should we do in life? That always seems to be the question. Life is not guaranteed to be easy, never turning out the exact way that we want it to. A lot of people work hard to achieve their dreams of making a massive amount of money and having more than a seven percent return on their 401k plan. Truth is, life is not about the amount of money that we have saved up, it is about what we do to make a difference and how we will make our lifetime worth it. Something that people should set into place is a plan for their future. A plan that would help not only directs their path in life, but the paths of those around them too.
