Applying to colleges at the beginning of my senior year of high school seemed like a walk in the park. That was before I realized how much work it took to apply. With the common application and all the essays, I never thought I would get them all done. In the end, I applied to seven different schools including: Michigan State University, University of Michigan, Hillsdale College, Oakland University, Grand Valley State University, Kalamazoo College, and Hope College. Oddly enough, Hope College was the last school I applied too but the first school I got accepted too. I never thought I would attend a small, Christian school until I walked onto Hope`s campus. Growing up, a liberal art to school to me, was a small school where artistic people went. I never could even see myself going to a small school or neither the less going to an artsy school. But in my defense, growing up, all my cousins and families went to big schools. Michigan and Michigan …show more content…
First the college life has so much community behind it. Hope has just enough students on campus, were you feel at home. Another reason, is the small class size. Going to a liberal arts college allows to students to flourish in their learning. It also allows students to develop relationships with their teachers. Liberal arts schools truly allow students to feel like a student rather than just another number. Many students at big universities fall into the huge crowds and are just a number. At Liberal Arts college, you individual. One of my favorite parts about Hope College is the community. Going to college can be a tough and scary processes. Hope College was very open and inviting. The liberal arts school allows you meet and interact with many people. It’s very welcoming and truly cares about each one of its students. In conclusion, I have beyond happy I choice Hope. I could not see myself striving anywhere else and truly loving
I chose to attend LaGuardia Community College because this school was recommended by family members who had attended this college. Many people had told me that I would receive a lot of help with academic advising and other resources. At first, I was hesitant of coming to LaGuardia Community College, but I am happy with my decision. I think I have made the most out of my time at LaGuardia Community College. I have managed to keep my grades up and am a part of Phi Thetta Kappa Honor Society and on the Dean's List for Academic Achievement.
As well as learning how to be an adult, handling finances, work, health, etc. When visiting bigger universities you will never find these resources and structure that you gain here, they may have all the money, best computers, dorms, clubs, etc. but the resources you gain from Bennett College will last you a lifetime with the ability to positively impact other people you come into contact with. These are the types of resources that you couldn't find anywhere in the world but Bennett College and even though the resources that are given are not materialistic, I can prosper through anything and be successful because of what Bennett College has given me. With the success, I gain here and the volunteer work I have done I plan to give back to the community on a bigger scale. I plan to do more work for the urban youth of Greensboro; this will prevent the prominent gang violence that happens on the East side of Greensboro. Showing young people that there is really a way to get out of a bad situation and where you're from and what is going on in your life does not have to make you into another stigma in your
I attend Central Lakes College because it 's closer to home. Central Lakes College had a certain aspect on campus with a friendly environment that seemed to me that nurtured the growth in education. What I mean by nurture the growth in education is that Central Lakes College has programs and people that overview your academic career. Programs such as TRIO help with my generals that correlates to transferring to a four-year university. I wanted to go to a community college before a university because it fits my budget better than going straight to a university. Choosing Central Lakes College was an easy choice because the academic and sports programs fit my personality. An education service that really cares about you.
I chose to attend West Hills College so that I will be close to home. A small college will be great because I believe it will continue to provide a strong sense of community. The aspect of a strong sense of community will work best because it offers a better opportunity of interacting with your college peer. Attending a small college come with many positive outcomes. One of the many positive outcomes it has is that you have the privilege to interact more with the instructor and the students that are in the class. Furthermore being enrolled in a community college for instance West Hills College Coalinga gives you the privilege of making friends. Going into a smaller campus helps students get to their class faster without an exception of getting
The big question that is asked when going to a college is why do you choose our college. Well let me tell you. There are thousands of colleges to choose from and I decide on Lake Land College, because they have the program I want to eventually be in. They are affordable and they are always willing to help you with any problems you have.
Once my senior year started, it seemed as if all I heard was “College this, college that”, because of all of this discussion I was second guessing even going to college as a whole. From taking SATs, ACTs, and planning prom, college for me was the least of my worries. Fast forwarding to November where college applications are due, I still have no clue on what college I am going to attend. All of the California State Universities applications closed November thirty-first, while the out-of-state schools did not close until the top of the following
When applying to colleges, many people have different views on the endeavor. Some people think that it is an exciting adventure filled with many turns and twists, and decisions that lead to a different outcome, while others may think that it is a stressful ideal, filled with looming questions, pressure, and “what if’s”. To Alaijah, she believed it was the latter. When I asked her how she felt, she said that it was “A heavy task. However,” She states. “Once you’ve done everything you need to do you feel accomplished.” She feels that way for the simple fact that she knows it will help her accomplish her goal of getting a better future for herself. When I asked if she thought about college a lot, she responded the way most students would respond.
Looking back at my life to where I am now. I can honestly admit if I did not come to Community College my life would have been different. Here at community college I have made the most out of my experience I not only saved a significant amount of money but, furthermore I have grown not only with myself but with my grades as well. I struggled with a numerous of things in high school. However here at college I actually took the time to listen and observe. I have made friends and individuals that I can honestly call my family. I have taken the initiative to progress in my chosen fields.
When I thought about my future and where I 'll be going, I thought I would be attending a university like all of my friends in high-school. I never thought I would be attending a community college. I really hated the idea of community college. I thought it was for people who had low ACT score or people who didn 't really try as hard as others in school. I always tried hard in school even when things got hard I still tried my best. I never thought it would be for me until I saw the benefits of attending a community college. I attend a two year college because I felt like I had a better opportunity to talk to my professor , also to better myself improving my knowledge by stepping out of my comfort zone.
I applied to many other schools besides those too. Obviously, one being Hope but I never had any ambitions to go anywhere besides Michigan or Michigan State. Hope was actually the first college I got accepted too. The only reason I applied to Hope was because my cousin went here. After receiving an acceptance letter from Hope, Kalamazoo, Michigan State, Oakland, and Grand Valley, I began to worry, “The University of Michigan is where I need to be, but what if I don’t get it”. I began to feel anxious and started to question even if I should even go to college.
Going to college, is where your journey in life really begins. Choosing the right college for you is one of the biggest decisions you make in life. I choose California Baptist University to enhance my studies, meet people pursuing the same passion as I am, and become closer to God.
Ever since I was a kid I have always thought about what college I was eventually going to go to. I made the decision in high school that I wanted to be a special education teacher, so I thought about some schools that had that teaching program. My number one school I wanted to attend that had the best teaching program was East Carolina University. Having ECU as my number one choice lead me to apply there. Weeks after I applied I got a letter telling me some sad news that I was not accepted. Since I applied to ECU and did not get in, I was now thinking about applying to other schools like Methodist University or maybe a community college.
Four or Five years ago if you were to tell me that I would be confidently applying to the University of Miami I would have laughed. Through high school I did not give much effort and like most of my peers, thought that furthering my education was my only option. Nearing the end of my senior year I started realizing that no noteworthy university would even consider accepting someone like me. As the days ticked away, I applied to a nearby college with an incredibly high acceptance rate and found myself opening an acceptance letter a few weeks later.
This was all that I needed, a college who wanted me as a student. My search was over. I was accepted and have been at Eastern Nazarene College since. I have pushed myself to my true ability and have improved my grades tremendously since high school, proving to others and myself that I really do have what it takes to be successful.
I struggled with the idea of college from the beginning, even more so when it actually came down to picking one and signing the paperwork. I applied to just three schools: Grand View University, University of Northern Iowa, and Wartburg College. I worried that my horizons were limited because some of my peers seemed to spend every spare moment filling out applications for colleges and scholarships. I knew not what I wanted to do or how well I would transition from high school to college and independent living.
