Why are you here? Why are you here? Most people go to college to make more money, to have job stability, to make their parents happy, but that’s not why I come to college. The reason I come to college is because I want to be a pediatric neurologist. I have known that I wanted to go to college to become a pediatric neurologist for quite a while. When I was younger I had right temporal lobe focal epilepsy and general grand mal epilepsy. The seizures were very severe, I had 15 seizures in just my seventh grade year at school. No one could figure out how to control the seizures at first and people started to give up on me and calling me a liar. Doctors started accusing me for not taking my medicine. I started to think I’d never be able to control

Coming to college is a monumental thing for me and having the opportunity to go to the College of Design is equally as big and frightening. I am excited and ready to start the school year and to learn all that I can during my studio classes but I am worried about the time commitment it entails. I see this as a challenge though. A challenge I’m willing to go through. I would say this is my biggest concern about the College of Design but not my only one. I have seen examples of older student’s work and seen how they have improved tremendously and although that fills me with awe and ease, I still feel a sense of worry because it takes me a small amount of time to pick up new methods of learning.

Besides, as a first generation going to college I will be an example to my younger siblings. I will be able to show them that if we work hard and commit to our dreams, we will accomplish them. I am planning to enroll full time in college and join clubs aligned with my degree. When I came to the United States the unknown of the English language was a challenge I had to overcome. In the final years of high school, students will start to question the importance of a college education and what they think would be the best fit for them. This is a topic that everyone struggles with or even get asked about a lot. In an article called Higher Education a Worthwhile Journey by John Dever, he explains that “From a public policy perspective, the issue is whether it makes sense to continue to promote wide access to higher education. From the perspective of individual choice, the issue is whether college is worth the cost in terms of time and expense, particularly given the startling fact that student debt now exceeds what consumers owe by credit card.” Students should not be thinking about the cost of everything, but be thinking about, what they want to study in college or even what college could open their eyes to see. College offers a myriad of benefits beyond promise of a higher salary.

The reason why I’m seeking a college education is because I know that a college education is essential if I want to succeed in life. With a college education, I will not only be able to support myself, I’ll be able to support and provide for my family as well. The college that I will be attending in the fall of 2016, is a top Historically Black College or University, named Clark Atlanta University. At Clark, I will be getting my bachelors degree in Broadcast Journalism under the Mass Media and Communications department. I chose to attend CAU because it will help advance my career as an aspiring sports and entertainment journalist being that it is the hub for the entertainment industry and I will also be able to support my people, my second family, my CAU family, by investing my money into an HBCU in the return of getting greater education. For me, the term “family” is applicable to all aspects of my life, whether it be immediate family, my family
People go to college for many different reasons, some go to prepare themselves for a job there seeking. Others because they’re doing what their parents are telling them, or their going to just explore their options. I think at some point and time though, everyone going to college has at least wondered whether going to college is worth it or not. We worry whether we’ll find a job, or if we’re going to have severe financial problems in the future due to debt. This question is important to me, because I’m one of the many that don’t really know what I want to do with my life. I sometimes wonder whether college is worth my time, and that maybe I should just start joining the workforce now. I think this question is very meaningful to current, and
There are many reasons I want to go to college; my family all went to college, it allows me an opportunity to expand my knowledge on topics I am interested in, and it’s a chance to meet new people and make lifetime connections. Everyone in my family is very educated. My parents both have PhDs in psychology, my older sister is going on her junior year in college, and all of my extended family are all educated professionals. School is a way of life for my family. We are all very curious about everything and that inquisitive gene definitely got passed down to me. Since many high schools require that many core classes have to be completed in order to graduate I feel like it greatly diminishes the ability for students to focus on issues and topics
When I was little, I dreamed about going to college somewhere warm where I could escape the snow. As I became older I realized that the dream I had as a kid was fading. At the beginning of the school year, the thought of going out of state was unimaginable. The only place that came to mind when I heard the word “college” was the University of Iowa. Shortly after the end of football season, my high school football coach, Coach Krusey would call me and a few of my teammates down to the conference room where coaches from various schools, sat down and talked to us about playing at the next level and furthering our education at their school. When other coaches also came to the school to speak to us, they opened my eyes to different options, soon
It seems that today's day and age education is everything. From the time you enter elementary school they tell you “college is important,” and you are pressured about “what do you want to be when you grow up?” Entering high school it really hits home. There are college visits, applications, due dates, and many other college preps to do before you even graduate. Now, I have always been one to enjoy school and try to learn something new every day, but it became my only chance when I was medically discharged from the US Army almost a year ago.
In today’s society, going to college is very important to me especially. This is because many different jobs require some type of college degree. For me particularly, I need a four-year college degree to do what I would like to do, which is, nursing. Although there were thousands of colleges to choose from, Northwest Florida State College seemed to be the perfect fit for me because of all my personal reasons, for example, smaller classes, close to home which helps me and my family saves money, and has an outstanding nursing program.
The main purpose of the essay is the importance of education, is college necessary for success in our society, finally the cost of being well educated. College is an expensive undertaking and if you need to take loans to do. I do think a college degree is beneficial, can be right moves for a personally, professionally reason. However I don’t think it’s something we should force on someone; they have no clue what they want. A college learning can definitely help more than can hurt. College learning is not right choice for everyone, as many students graduate with large amount debts and limited job
For me, the reason that why I go to the college is everyone in my senior high school does it.Most of students in Taiwan who have graduated from high school, they go to college rather than find a job. There are two reasons why I follow most of people’s footsteps to enter into college. First, I don’t truly realize what I pursue. Instead of thinking what I desire, I just has been taught to learn the knowledge of textbooks during schooldays. Second, I still have no ideas what kind of occupation is suitable for me. I consider that if I go to college, maybe I can get some ideas during four years. Therefore, I choose to continue with studying in order to figure out what I want to do in the future. In conclusion, I choose to follow most of people’s
