Although Athletes entertain us all and provide us with something to look forward to, their paychecks are too big for what they do. There are millions of people who are injured in the military or have illnesses that need that money to help them recover ,but instead we give the money to people who entertain us.

I think pro athletes are paid way too much money to play simple games because anybody can play sports, although some are better than others doesn't mean that they deserve millions of dollars. In some cases athletes blow their money on stupid stuff like cars, houses, drugs, jewelry. If they want to spend their money that way, then let them, I just think they get paid too much money for playing a game.

Therefore, to buy a house, and sustain a well paying job. Pro athletes are doing what they enjoy most and they should be rewarded with a high salary for doing so. They are always working constantly and not slacking. Most pro athletes don't have time to watch TV, or play video games. Which is great because they are replacing it with a healthy and rewarding activity.

Professional athletes are highly talented and determined entertainers with extraordinary physical abilities. They compete in various sports to entertain people and make a living. Those include basketball, football, baseball, hockey, tennis, and the list goes on to any athlete that gets paid to play. These athletes train really hard and for long hours to be the best at what they do. Fans pay to watch them perform because they really enjoy seeing them. Like other entertainers, such as actors and singers, athletes are paid large amounts for their performances. Professional athletes are not overpaid for the amount of physical and mental stress they go through to do their job.

Athletes are paid because they do something they enjoy. They play their games, train, and travel around the world full time. Seems enjoyable compared to a nurse’s career. Nurses have to work around 12 hours everyday and are only paid about $70,000. Is there a reason why we pay entertainers more than Lebron James has made $71 million in a year. Compare that to $400 thousand, the amount of money the president makes in a year.

Athletes are role models and contribute money to the public. For instance, sports idols are the only things that stand between ghetto kids and a drug life. Also, pro athletes set up and go to camps to teach sports and life skills. Lastly, athletes don’t spend all the money for themselves (house for mom, charity). Professional athletes are good examples to kids and they give to/sponsor charities.

Today 's professional athletes make ridiculous salaries and are only increasing year after year. Every year we hear how a professional athlete just signed a contract worth a record amount. Then about the same time next year we hear about another athlete is signing a new contract worth even more than the previous high. Professional athletes are making too much money in a society that salaries and wages are typically based on the value of ones work.

Athletes argue that they are role models for children and endorse products. This is true, but it is what goes along with the job. I would be prod if I knew that billions and billions of young impressionable children wanted to be just like me. You should not have to be paid to be a role model, there is no reason that one should be negative, commit crimes, and do “bad” things regardless of you being an athlete or not. It should be an honor to be praised and loved by billions, this is why I feel the reasoning of the professional athletes that demand higher wages are illegitimate.

Athletes have been entertaining the world for hundreds of years. The highest paid athlete in 2015 is Floyd Mayweather. Mayweather has an estimated net worth of $400 million dollars. Mayweather was paid $220 million to fight in the ring against Manny Pacquaio for only 36 minutes. $220 million for 36 minutes is outrageous (ESPN Par 6). Most people can’t get that amount of money in their lifetime. In my opinion athlete’s salaries are way too high for what they’re doing. They are just entertaining people around the world and should not get millions of dollars for it. There are a lot of people in this world that work harder than athletes and have jobs that benefit society and don’t get paid as much as athletes do. People who have jobs and make an impact on society should make more money than athletes that are just entertaining
