Although Athletes entertain us all and provide us with something to look forward to, their paychecks are too big for what they do. There are millions of people who are injured in the military or have illnesses that need that money to help them recover ,but instead we give the money to people who entertain us.
In this day and time athletes make millions of dollars by playing games for a living and most spent that money on expensive things like big houses, fast cars, and much more. Meanwhile there are people with illnesses that could use the money for treatment that could save their life. There are people who fight for our country and risk their lives for us, but instead of helping them with therapy and treatments for injury we decide
Athletes deserve the money they receive because of their hard work, dedication, and commitment to their passion. They wouldn 't be where they 're at just sitting on the couch all day long doing nothing. They put a lot of time and effort into their futures. Most people don 't even realize the sacrifices that a pro
Athletes risk hurting themselves every time they practice or play in a game. If they get knocked out or get a concussion, it could have a major affect on them for the rest of their life. Most the time when a player gets injured they get taken to the hospital just to be safe. A visit to the hospital can cost a lot of money, especially if they get injured again and then their insurance goes up. At the end of all that, the athlete has to pay a thousands of dollars for injuries alone. With what money are the athletes going to pay off their bills
The money that is used for paying professional athletes is being wasted. Instead of using it to pay players every time that they get a goal or shot, that money could be used to keep someone alive. According to Country Economy in 2011 the debt in Japan was 13,579,637. One of the highest paid team in major league baseball, the New York Yankees, earns 203,197,405 a year (The Score)! The team could pay off all of Japan’s debt in less than a year! Fair to say, it is a whole team, but one single player could pay off all of United States debt as well. According to The Score “Hiroki Kuroda makes 16 million dollars in a single year.” A whole countries debt! And yet look at how this money is wasted. According to World Food Programme “842 million people in the world do not have enough to eat.” If athlete’s weren’t paid so much these 842 million people would have something to eat, and would not die from starvation. Why don’t these athletes donate if they have so much money? According to Daily Mail Floyd, Mayweather made a 5.9 million dollar bet, with his pocket money. They have so much money that they place million dollar bets like it’s hardly
Corruption, scandals, suspensions, firings and a systems that is systematically flawed all the while the fact of the matter is that the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) is a organization that is bringing in billions of dollars each year yet the labor force generating the money gets a scholarship that many athletes believe doesn’t pay enough for everything that is needed on campus so this leads the author to have to take a look at if athletes need to be paid. I will outline numerous problems that are going on in college athletics and possible solutions to problems. I will take a look at the scholarship itself
Athletes Are Overpaid As soldiers lay down their lives for the good of america people playing sports in the country the soldiers serve get paid more than the hero's. Military members get out and are homeless while people they are protecting get more than they could ever dream of to play a game. Military members should get paid more than pro athletes and athletes should not get paid as well as they do to play a game actors entertain as well and still don't make as much money entertainment is not as important as freedom. Military members should not be paid less than athletes.
The question of should student athletes get paid is an argument that is growing in debate in recent years. Mostly pertaining to college Football and Basketball. Especially when the revenue generated from these sports rival those of its professional counterparts. Some would argue that receiving a full athletic scholarship is payment enough. Or, student athletes are no different from any college student working their way through college. However, these student athletes are not guaranteed full scholarships and deal mostly the same pressures of athletes that make their living playing these sports.
The idea of paying players in college sports has been around since they have started. People have different opinions on if they should or should not be paid and through their tone, experience, and how they use their information to see if these athletes should get paid. Jay Bilas a sport broadcaster with years of experience believes that in this billion dollar industry the only people not getting paid are the ones, people pay to see and he also believes athletes would stay in school longer. While on the other hand Kieran McCauley believes that even though they shouldn’t be paid they could be compensated and that school isn’t a place to get paid it’s a place to learn and get a jumpstart into the real world. They are both similar with who their audience and who the way they approach the topic looking for the betterment of
Athletes are not taking their money for granted. Some athletes give their money to different charities. Take Stephen Curry for example. He has a program called, “Nothing But Net.” This shows that athletes do lots of good with their
How sport is presented and supported today can mean total success or deep failure tomorrow. Every year the government of Canada provides money for athletics through three programs all of which add up to around $256 million, but that is only going towards the athletes, not even the facilities. The average cost to build a new professional facility is $6 billion, and to build a simple recreational center it costs $5.7 million. Contractors and businessmen set budgets before building anything new but the budgets always rise; regions get no economic boost from spending money on tickets and building projects and spectators are becoming uninterested in watching live games. The government should not use taxpayer dollars to support athletes and build
I believe that people that play sports in college should be paid because people in college struggle a lot for their living expenses. It is very hard in college to pay for tuition, living expenses, etc. People say that some nights they go hungry without food. I believe that it isn't fair for hard working athletes that risk getting injured to not get paid for their sports. Sport athletes should get paid more for their time in athletics because they are the reason colleges get money from the tickets and merchandise.
Football is an extremely rough sport; according to Sportsters.com, “football players put their life on the the line every day as they risk life threatening injuries such as concussions, broken limbs, heart-attacks, paralyzation and even death.” Another interesting point is that colleges and college coaches earn millions of dollars on the backs of the athletes while the players themselves are not authorized to receive one dime for their work. Therefore, if teenage athletes take such life threatening risks on a daily basis, they should at least earn a paycheck while doing so, and if the coaches and colleges
First of all, I think that athletes and entertainers don’t deserve as much money as they do make. This is very important to me, I think people who risk their own lives or another person’s life as a career deserves more money. Someone who can play a sport or sing and has a talent deserves to paid, but not millions. Police officers, nurses, and especially soldiers deserve as much if not more money. There
This is why professional athletes should be paid so much money. One good reason is most professional athletes have to pay tax which goes back to the government which pays for public parks which is good for kids. Also some athletes give to charity by starting up football camps for kids with disorders. And like Andrew Luck some Athletes have a contract that could be as long as six years long.
It's not fair that they get lots of money when they already have money and it's wrong for when they spend it on to, but some of those athletes do donate to charity for a good cause.
Every year millions are handed out to players that don’t play on the field and you might not even know they play the sport, for them money is nothing they need to worry about while homeless and low income and getting weaker. Our economy has fallen very much in the past 20 years and we have not made a full recovery. We need to distribute the money that Sport Professionals get over paid with in many different helping the people ways. On average a NBA player makes well over five million dollars a year while on average a person with a minimum wage job will receive only 20 to 40 thousand a year making this only less than 1 percent pay compared to pros. On average a Pro Football Team uses about 30 players for a team yet have 50 on their roster every year. Good time and money are wasted while America the country with most paid athletes has the highest homeless rate than most countries around the world. Many athletes get paid well over a million dollars a year. Do these players really need that amount of money?
