Marriage in Islam is seen as a noble institution which legally unites a man and a woman together. It is needed in human social life because “through marriage, families are established and the family is the fundamental unit of our society. Furthermore, marriage is the only legitimate or halal way to indulge in intimacy between a man and a woman” (IslamicAwareness, n.d.). Besides, there is a verse stated in the Holy Quran regarding the necessity of marriage: “And marry those among you who are single and those who are fit among your male slaves and your female slaves; if they are needy, Allah will make them free from want out of His grace; and Allah is Ample-giving, Knowing.” (Surah an-Nur, 24:32)

Marriage is a special thing in a person’s life. Usually people unite in marriage because of their love for one another and they see something meaningful in that person. There are some marriages, however, where people marry for fame and fortune. Usually these marriages end in disaster resulting in divorce.

Marriage is a significant part of Judaism bringing together a woman and man under God’s reign. It is the mitzvah (122) “To marry a wife by means of ketubah and keddushin” (Deut 22:13), all Jewish adherents see marriage as a necessity in order to obey God and to experience the fullness of life. In Genesis God says: “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.” It is a link between individuals and the wider community as it recognises two individuals coming together, celebrated by the wider community. Also the marriage ceremony itself contains symbolic significance to Judaism, conveying Jewish beliefs through symbols, actions and words.

I think that the reason why two persons are getting married is to show their relationship and that they are in love with each other. However, the reason why people are getting married in the novel is because of the money, the social status you could achieve by marrying a rich person, or a person is marrying another not because she or he is in love, but because one of the persons has the potential in becoming rich.

Marriage is a union between two people. The purpose of marriage is to love and support the other person, through good times and through bad. With this being said, marriage has the opportunity to make you a better person, who is more flourished and happier. Although marriages have the opportunity to happy, lifelong relationships, they also have the opportunity to be loveless and more of a burden than a gift.

Not only that, but the marriage could also easily kill whatever relationship was there prior to the declaration. However, if marriage is such the ball and chain that we all joke about, then why do people get married?

However, marriage means more than love. A reason why many people get married is that they have found companionship, love, and comfort in another person. The idea of a marriage has different meanings to people. Some marry for money, love or resources. In modern times, many philosophies have changed throughout the year. In her book marriage, Juliet H severance states that ¨marriage institution claim that it offers the best possible opportunity for individual and collective happiness…¨(severance 3) Marriage is a way to achieve happiness. Many ideas of marriage have changed. However, some ideas and still exist. Marriage is a form of motivation, regardless of their reasons. The reason people get married is mainly love, money, and traditions.

In modern society, the main basis for marriage is to celebrate romance and shared love between two people. However, the origin of marriage, in its earliest known history, was far from this. The earliest documentations we have of marriage were arranged by parents, with intentions of strengthening their families status and future. It was more of a means of survival and to assure their families and future generations would thrive. Modern day marriage is the utmost form of romance.

Marriage can be what sociologist thinks of the world. Which is “things are not what they seem” in some situations. Meaning that you never know the real motives why some people get married.

Firstly, it is important to understand why people get married in the first place. People get married because they want to commit to their relationship, though there is also an important religious factor for some. Marriage also offers benefits for some that only come into effect when a couple is married. Pressure from families and religious groups also sometimes affects whether people get married.

There are many reason whys people get married; for love, money, status or because it is the ‘right’ thing

I get married when the time is right but right now I want to know why other people get married. Is it for a movement or for other reasons? Ultimately I going to say it is for love because that’s what I want to do when the time

Marriage is an institution that admits men and women to family life. Marriage consists of the rules and regulations that define the rights, duties and privileges of husband and wife with respect to each other. It also admits men and women to family life and fixes certain rights and duties in respect of children born of their union. As a stable social institution it binds two opposite sexes and allows them to live as husband and wife. It is a strong association which connects not only two individuals but also builds up a relationship between two families. It brings stability and essence to human relations, which is incomplete without marriage. Its strongest function concerns with the care of children, their upbringing and education. The concept of marriage varies from culture to culture but its role is same i.e. union of two opposite sex.
