1. Why do you want to become a MUSM Ambassador? (max. 250 words) When I was exploring medical schools in 2014, I decided to attend discover MUSM day. That day, I was able to experience the culture of the campus and interact with Mercer students that went above and beyond to answer all of questions about Mercer and medicine in general. I believe that my experience that day truly impacted my decision on making Mercer my home. A decision I do not regret. Although the study of medicine is difficult, I am thankful for Mercer and the growth I have achieved during my time here. I am thankful for the faculty that are readily available and go the extra mile to help me understand the science behind medicine. …show more content…

What is your favorite aspect about MUSM? What can MUSM improve on? (max. 250 words) Being at the Memorial campus in Savannah opens the opportunity for involvement beyond the classroom. This location allows me to take advantage of the incredible facility as well as the experience to be surrounded by the physicians who practice here.
I go to Tumor board from 7:30 until 8:30am, with enough time to make it to my 8:45 PBL. Easy access to a medical facility allows continuous opportunity for evolving by allowing networking and interaction with patients and physicians. Also, as a Mercer Student, I I enjoy we have access to meeting, conferences, and events that take place at Memorial. This allows me to further learn about research and current practices that take place at Memorial.
Personally, I believe that something we can improve on is campus safety such as light in the parking lots and more surveillance during the night hours. We have a beautiful campus and well-equipped study facilities, which make it comfortable to come to the school for study sessions, but at what cost? Deciding on a medical school requires being a fit to the school’s mission and values so that your interest, goals and values meet those goals. The mission defines the culture of the school, and as a future attendee this will define how comfortable you can feel at the school and what you are able to contribute to the class. I would also follow up by sharing with him/her the highlights that attracted me to Mercer. I would also emphasize our PBL curriculum, our early clinical exposure through standardized patients, and faculty that truly invests and make themselves available for the students. I would mention our campus and Memorial Health, as well as our PGD curriculum and Community health. Showing the applicant my enthusiasm for MUSM and expanding on my personal experiences being involved with Memorial Health can further highlight why Mercer’s unique program is a good fit for students. I feel that this will emphasize to the applicant that we, as mercer students, want what is best for each other and encourage personal development. I would mentor him/her into answering this questions for his/herself and truly exploring his/her options while considering the highlights that make Mercer an outstanding institution that I am
