Animal Testing
Animal testing is weird. You would have never thought scientists could learn so much about diseases in a human body from a completely different animal. It’s amazing how people are able to learn so much by testing on other animal bodies. We also have to think about stopping animal testing, though. Many animals die because of testing. By continuing testing on animals, we lower the death rate of all animals each day, human and animal suffering decreases, and less of your hard earn money would be spent.
The first reason animal testing should be continued is because we lower the death rate of all animals each day. By testing on animals, we find cures for diseases and find why we have problems. The cures scientists find are not only
Animal testing is not only beneficial to human but also animals, at least to those who are not used in the experiments, such as pets and endangered species. Along with researching for new treatments and medicines for
Animal testing is a common practice in current life that is necessary to ensure the safety of the humans that will be using the tested product. There are many good and bad aspects of animal testing, but the pros clearly outweigh the cons. Animal testing has been around since ancient times when animals were dissected to gain knowledge about the body and organs. The animals killed from animal testing make up a tiny percentage of the total animals killed every year. When just considering the animals used for food compared to the animals used for testing, testing animals make up a mere 2.6 percent of that number. Public safety far outweighs the lives of the small amount of animals killed.
I think we shouldn't test on animals. Animals are born to grow up and live a happy, healthy life not get tested on for mascara and lipstick. Animals die and get sick everyday due to animal testing. Some animals go blind, deaf, lose their legs or ears, make their young have birth defects, or worse they could die. They whine and get hurt, the scientists just continue their work, it is like they have no heart for these animals.
Animal testing is used to see the effects of products before the products are put up for human consumption. With this testing, thousands and thousands of animals are kept in cages and subjected to pain and isolation every year. Even though these animals endure this extreme pain for the safety of humans, results are rarely the same in animals as they are in humans. Even though animal testing is deemed as bad science, people say that every major medical advance is because of animal testing. This is not true, since we have vaccines, CAT scans, MRI, and many more advances that are not due to animal testing. Do we even need animal testing? Animal testing is misleading, cruel, archaic, and is not essential to medical research.
Animal testing has been going on for years; however, few question the ethics of testing medicines that would cure human diseases on animals. Various animals being tested in labs and cruelly force them to be a host of harmful diseases negatively affect their health. Animal testing is cruel and unusual punishment and should discontinue. Animal experimentation is a subject that many know of but don’t know much about. Although it is a big topic, people still don’t pay much attention to it because of their lack of information. Experimenting is a cruel process that causes many innocent animals to suffer. Many cases of violations towards experimenting have been found as well. Testing on animals is unnecessary when laying down the
Supporters of animal testing might say that the tests help find new research that gets us one step closer to curing many diseases but they are misguided. Research shows that animals have different structure when compared to human beings making them poor test subjects. Animals have significantly different anatomic, metabolic, and cellular differences that make it hard to compare to humans. This fact proves that animal testing will get us nowhere in curing or helping humans in any way. Studies have shown that it creating an animal model that mimics the human model is nearly impossible . This statement is also false because animal tests may mislead researchers into ignoring potential cures and treatments. If it misleads the researches then it does not make sense for animal testing to still exist. One example of this case is chemicals that are proven harmful for animals but proven beneficial for humans. One case of this incident is aspirin where it seemed to cause liver failure for animals but benefits
Experimentation of animals may be horrible. But if they do continue the experimentation of animals than that would have evermore excellent results. First, It means that they do not have to test the experiments on themselves. Second, it goes against the laws of science to test it on humans first. And third, It is easier to test and observe the reaction of a mouse or smaller creature than it is to see on a human. And so for these reasons they should continue the experimentation of animals before humans.
Animal testing is a very necessary process for human survival; This is the "survival of the fittest", animal testing helps us know what is safe and what's not. The human race requires accurate results in order to overcome viruses and other fatal extremities. We need animals as a recource for survival. A lion will not refuse to harm a zebra because if he does that lion will die.
Animal testing is inhumane. There have millions of innocent animals that have suffered a vicious, painful death due to animal testing. In research labs, animals are screamed at, beaten, and stuffed into small cages when researchers are done using them. Dissection at schools is also wrong. They cut open defenseless animals, just to see how there insides work. Animals and humans aren't even exactly alike. “92% out of every 100 drugs that passed animal testing failed clinical trials on people,” . Every year in the United
Not only animals, but human lives too (Animal testing is bad Science). “ Most animal experiments are not relevant to human health, they do not contribute meaningfully to medical advances and many are undertaken simply out of curiosity and do not even pretend to hold promise of curing illnesses.” Says Noah Berlatsky. Even if you tested something on an animal multiple times, someone is going to have to be the first human to have to test the product on themselves. Even when humans could benefit from on a product being tested, they're still really bad for animals. For example, aspirin; it is a benefit to humans, but did you know that it kills cats while it also causes birth defects in dogs, guinea pigs, and other animals too (Berlatsky). Animals are living things and don't deserve to be treated this way. They shouldn't have to be forced to suffer in cages with disease and injury. Animals are treated as objects that have little meaning to them and little value with their lives besides the cost to purchase them (Hunnicutt). More than $2 billion was wasted because the drugs that passed the animal, failed the human test. Not only do people get sick from the product they tested on animals, but about 95% of schools use animal testing to train their kids which is wasting more animal
Some people argue against testing because it kills animals. Scientists hold them captive, experiment on them and then they kill them. However, scientists have had a lot of success in finding drugs that work on humans. The medications they have found have saved millions of lives, and we now have many vaccines to prevent people from getting sick and possibly dying. Animal testing should be allowed to continue because it is very beneficial to humans and has saved many lives.
Animal testing should be stopped because animal bodies aren’t models of the human bodies. Professor James Hickman states “We have cured over 200 diseases in rats and mice that has not translated to humans because our physiology
If we are right about animal testing, then major consequences follow for innocent animal’s lives. Right now I would like to see the testing on animals to be reduced and get to stopping it since it is very cruel to animals. Now, Dr. Ronald W. Davis from Stanford University stated, “(Researchers) are so ingrained in trying to cure mice that they forget that we’re trying to cure
If you have ever taken a medicine, it was most likely tested on an animal first. If the medicine made you feel better after you were sick, then you are in luck, because many times the same cannot be said for animal test subjects. Test animals are very often subject to horrendous living conditions or inhumane experiments Many animals feel extreme discomfort or even die because of this. Another reason why animal testing is unnecessary is because there are many equally or even more effective alternatives to animal testing that are more humane. Finally, animal testing should be prohibited because it could potentially be ineffective because animals generally aren’t the same as humans. People are abusing and killing
I doubt that anyone has ever heard of the dog named libby, who was rescued from a testing facility, run by the Professional laboratory and Research Services inc. This corporation ran test on a multitude of animals, no species was safe. All animals from dogs like libby, to cats , bunnies, rats and mice, and many others. Before libby was called libby, she was known by the number that was tattooed to her ear. She was sick with hook and tapeworms and had a multiple of infections. She was also locked in dark cages. And on top of all of that; Staff screamed obscenities and physically abused the animals in their care. This story is a fact of an animal testing facility, but it doesn’t necessarily have to be. I believe that animal testing should be allowed,
