Who is to blame? In the play of Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare, many characters and situations have been blamed by its tragic ending. Therefore, the young ‘star crossed’ lovers action’s were the responsible for this unexpected incident. Romeo’s and Juliet’s acts of disobedience, and impulsivity carried them to their death gradually. To start with, Romeo assisted to a party that he was uninvited, and held by their enemy. Romeo knew the consequences by going to this party, but he still decided to go. As he declares; “I fear too early, for my mind misgives/ Some consequence yet hanging in the stars/ Shall bitterly begin his fearful date/ With this night’s revels, and expire the term/ Of a despisèd life closed in my breast/ By some vile forfeit of untimely death. /But he that hath the steerage of my course,/ Direct my sail. On, lusty gentlemen (Act I, 4, l. 56).” By saying this words, Romeo expresses the feeling that he has about the future if he goes to the party, he knows that the party will be the start of something bad, something that will end with his own death. If Romeo did not go to the party that he was not supposed to go, he would not have met Juliet, and as result die. …show more content…
The lovers impulsivity and immaturity when taking decision made their relationship be based on lies. "Thy purpose marriage, send me word tomorrow (Act II, 2, 144).” After falling in love with Romeo, Juliet immediately proposes marriage. The problem is that Juliet does not wish to wait long, She wants to marry Romeo as soon as their circumstances allow them. Even though Friar Lawrence warned Romeo "Wisely and slow: they stumble that run fast (Act II, 3, 94).” Due to his impulsivity, he did not followed the Friar’s advice, even though he knew he was going to fast. This is another of the many examples in the play where Shakespeare shows that impulsivity and bad decision leads to
Have you’ve ever been included in a major disaster and did not know who to blame? When a tragedy occurs and a numerous amount of people are involved it can be very easy to accuse another. In Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, it starts as a simple love story until a tragedy occurs that leaves one question, who is really at fault? Friar Laurence is truly to blame for the tragic events because he married Romeo and Juliet, he gave Juliet the plan that lead to her and Romeo’s death, and didn’t tell anyone about the events taking place.
In William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, many characters meet their tragic end as a result of a plethora of factors, from old rivalries to new love. It is a tragic story of two lovers, destined to complete each other, but also to end a bitter feud through their deaths (Prologue.3-6). However, if the blame had to be ascribed to one person in particular, that person would be Romeo Montague. Throughout the play, Shakespeare showcases Romeo’s irrationality and poor decision making, leading to the gruesome deaths of his loved ones. Romeo is most to blame for the tragic slew of deaths because he is oblivious, quick to act, and too urgent in his relationship.
The story of Romeo and Juliet is the best tragedy ever to be written. The tale of two adolescents taking their lives because of their love for one another has inspired a lot of controversy as to whether the adults surrounding these adolescents could have done something to prevent this tragedy. The truth is the adults in the situation are ultimately to blame for the deaths of their love struck teens. This essay will explain why Friar Laurence, Nurse and to a lesser extent Mercutio, caused the deaths of Romeo and Juliet.
As the story of Romeo and Juliet further progresses, Romeo’s true character becomes more and more apparent; he seems to act solely by impulse. Romeo acts moreso with his emotions, and sudden thoughts than his brain which stores reason and logic. This causes for tragedy and unfortunate circumstance by the end of the poem. This shows how impulsive he is in most of his decisions and how he tends to be very dramatic in everything that he does. When Romeo discovers that Juliet is dead, he almost immediately dramatically decides to drink poison, to kill himself. “Here’s to love, O true apothecary, thy drugs are quick - thus with a kiss I die.” Which shows how quickly he makes wrash and dramatic decisions without thinking it through. If Romeo had not been so careless and impulsive in his decision, Juliet would have awoken and they would both still be alive.
Have you ever read Romeo and Juliet then wondered who to blame for the numerous deaths that take place throughout the story? Well today I will explain the characters that are to blame in order from the most blamable to the least. I will start with Romeo and work my way down to the least blamable character within the story. The first person that I would blame for these deaths is Romeo.
Romeo is not only to blame for his own death, but the affection he has for Juliet also plays a part. In Act V, Scene III, Romeo says states, ‘Come, bitter conduct, come unsavoury guide! Thou desperate pilot, now at once run on // The dashing rocks thy sea-sick weary bark! Heres to my love!’ Romeo says this with death’s favourite drink in hand, ready to die. At the end Romeo says, ‘Here’s to my love!’ Ergo, indicating that he is drinking the poison because his lover is no longer around to provide the essentials to satisfy him. Romeo cannot live in a world without Juliet present and therefore takes a swift gulp of the poison and dies. One may think that it is ‘stupid’ and ‘idiotic’, however, they must take into consideration of the context of
Everyone needs a loving family; one that is made up of people you cherish and get through everything with. Whether it be your ups or downs, they are there. In Romeo and Juliet, Juliet did not have a family. To fill in the missing pieces, Juliet uses people like the Nurse to be a mother figure because she is neglected by her parents. Along the way, she has displayed signs of suicide that could have been prevented if her parents Capulet and Lady Capulet paid extra attention to her. Although other characters in Romeo and Juliet are part of the down fall of Romeo and Juliet, Capulet and Lady Capulet are most to blame because they neglected Juliet and don’t understand her.
How dumb can a person possibly be? That's a very good question which happens to be answered in Romeo and Juliet. Throughout the story of Romeo and Juliet there are many questionable events that take place due to poor decision making. Even though everyone makes mistakes, there is someone who is responsible for everything bad that happened in the story. That person is Romeo because he started the downward spiral of unfortunate events. From him falling in love with the enemy, to killing the man from the family that hates despises you. This person also happened to be Juliet's sister. These reasons will be more thoroughly examined and fleshed out over the course of this essay.
Who was to blame in the play Romeo and Juliet? Shakespeare the author of this play, didn’t say who was to blame for both Romeo and Juliet’s death. Therefore it’s the audience's choice to say who’s fault was it. Every character plays a role in their deaths, but it all narrows down to who started everything. I blame Romeo for both his and Juliet's death.
1 The play is Romeo and Juliet, by William Shakespeare. Overall the theme of this play would be one of love, and also the loss of love. Everyone has someone they blame for something that happens, who is the real one to blame for this fault? Most people blame the wrong people. But in The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet the blame lies with the family feud because it creates unnecessary conflicts.
Romeo and Juliet is a classic sixteenth-century tale written by William Shakespeare that portrays two lovers entangled in the ancient feud between their families. Destined for an early demise, a whirlwind of miscommunications and misfortune leads the lovers to take their lives. However, this tragic denouement is no surprise to the audience, as this fate is predicted promptly in the first act. Similarly, death is a recurrent theme throughout the play, primarily brought up by young Romeo himself. In most cases, it appears that Romeo’s unhealthy suicide complex is catalyzed through his attachment to Juliet and upstages his devotion to her. If others had not corrected his ill-advised judgment, it is arguable that Romeo’s premature death may
One of those instances is at the end of the play when Juliet uttered, “...drunk all, and left no friendly drop to help me after? I will kiss thy lips; haply some poison yet doth hang on them, to make die with a restorative.”. By uttering this, it shows how she was wanting so badly to be with Romeo that she would take her life to do so. If she didn’t find happiness from their relationship and him she would never have done what she did, or things would have at least ended differently. The most tragic part about Romeo and Juliet is that their death and that they end through death.
