1 The play is Romeo and Juliet, by William Shakespeare. Overall the theme of this play would be one of love, and also the loss of love. The secondary character I have chosen to analyze is that of the Friar Laurence. Of all the stupid buffoons throughout this play I believe the Friar to be the most at fault. Not only was he the one responsible for marrying the two teenagers, but he perpetuated the bad choices that both Romeo and Juliet made, inevitably leading to both of their deaths. I feel the need to insert my opinion here however, and that is, that I hate everything about this play. I hate how overrated it is, and how It’s held in such high esteem as an oh so grand “love” story. I disagree with these praises whole-heartedly. However instead of going into detail about why I hate it I will discuss …show more content…
The Friar Laurence, being an ordained “man of God”, has the capacity to perform wedding ceremonies, apparently in a formal and informal ways. Romeo and Juliet are in love, and that’s swell, two barely teenagers are in love with each other, but oh no, their parents hate each other. So in a stroke of pure brilliance the Friar thinks to himself “oh hey maybe if I marry these two tweens it will reconcile their two families and there will be peace at last”. So not only marrying these two tweens, but doing so secretly so it can blow up in the feuding parents faces, ultimately was doomed to fail, and it did. As the only adult aware of Romeo and Juliet’s undying love for each other (pun intended) He should have been the voice of reason. At any point, even after marrying the two he could have stepped forwards and said somethingto either one family or both of them, instead he stood idly by as Juliet’s father wants to marry his 13 yearold off to some random adult ( I know, I know, they were different times), and still the Friar did nothing. The brilliant Friar Laurence then gives Juliet a potion to make her appear dead because she doesn’t wantto marry this other random adult
He agreed to marry them and kept them in there love daze. Even though the Friar was only doing this because he wanted to help the feud. He helped Juliet create a “master” plan to not marry Pairs. If Friar Laurence made sure the letter got to Romeo and then he wouldn't be lead to believe Juliet was dead. If Romeo wouldn't have killed himself because he was led to believe Juliet was dead was really dead then Juliet wouldn't have stabbed herself. Friar Laurence could have stayed and stopped Juliet from killing herself be he was too scared and fled. The Friar shouldn't have gambled with his luck Friars are suppose to be all
Throughout the entire play, Friar Laurence helps keep Romeo and Juliet together and their relationship a secret, encouraging their unrealistic hopes, and therefore is to blame for their deaths. Friar Laurence knows both families well, and their hate for each other, yet he misleads Romeo and Juliet to believe that their love can end their family's rivalry.
The Friar should have known that they were just kids and they were rushing into things. In Romeo and Juliet, Friar Laurence says, “These violent delights have violent ends. Is loathsome in his own deliciousness, and in the taste confounds the appetite”- Shakespeare. Also Friar knew that just a couple days before Romeo had his eyes set on Rosaline. The Friar knew that this was too fast, but he married them anyway. The Friar married Romeo and Juliet despite their parent wishes. The only reason the Friar married the two children was because he thought the feud between the two families would end. However, this did not go as planned. The Friar needed to find a way out of this chaos. This goes to show Friar Lawrence is the most to blame and put not only his life on the line, but also the lives of Romeo and Juliet.
At first, when Romeo approaches Friar, he does not believe it is a good idea to marry Romeo and Juliet. Friar Laurence later agrees to marry them with the thought that he could possibly reunite the two families. “In one respect I'll thy assistant be, / For this alliance may so happy prove, / To turn your households’ rancor to pure love” (Act 2, scene 3, lines 90–92). Friar appears to be infatuated with the idea of him being known or having a reputation for being the one who reunites the two families rather than what could happen now that Romeo and Juliet are married. Friar secretly marrying the two begins a sequence of tragic events.
In the play, Romeo and Juliet, there are several significant details that help the reader choose who take the blame for the death of Romeo and Juliet. First, the character Friar Laurence should have never married them in the first place. Another important detail is that Friar Laurence it might have ended the feud between the two families they always fighting with each other. The third detail important to the play is that he should have never given Juliet the sleeping drug to make her fake her own death. Finally, the Shakespeare that tells the reader that Romeo has killed himself to be with his love in the afterlife because he couldn’t be with her while she was living. These details are significant because it shows how friar Laurence is responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet just days after the weeding.
Firstly, Romeo, Juliet’s lover, is to blame for the tragic end of the play. Romeo
The story of Romeo and Juliet is the best tragedy ever to be written. The tale of two adolescents taking their lives because of their love for one another has inspired a lot of controversy as to whether the adults surrounding these adolescents could have done something to prevent this tragedy. The truth is the adults in the situation are ultimately to blame for the deaths of their love struck teens. This essay will explain why Friar Laurence, Nurse and to a lesser extent Mercutio, caused the deaths of Romeo and Juliet.
Even though numerous characters in the play contributed to the death of Romeo and Juliet, Friar Laurence’s irresponsibility and lack of recognition makes him most to blame. To begin, Romeo proposes the idea about marring Juliet, a member of the Capulet Family by telling Friar Laurence “Then plainly know my heart's dear love is set on the fair daughter of rich Capulet (2.3.57-58). Romeo has completely forgotten about Rosaline, and now has focused his love onto Juliet. The Friar agrees with Romeo. Friar Laurence's decision is irresponsible because he agrees with the idea of members of opposite noble families being married. By marrying Romeo and Juliet, Friar is acting like Lord
Who’s to blame and who should be excused from this tragedy in the Romeo and Juliet love story? Romeo thought Juliet was dead and he then killed himself with poison that would actually kill him and Juliet was left alone because Friar's plan didn’t get to Romeo. Everyone except Romeo and Friar Lawrence thought that Juliet was going to get married to Paris after Nurse convinced her that Romeo wasn’t good for her. Romeo and Juliet are two teenagers who are in love and while everyone else would disapprove of the relationship they looked for help to find their happy ending and unfortunately this ended in a terrible tragedy because of one message not getting delivered. There were only two people who knew about the forbidden relationship and Friar

Romeo is to blame How really is it possible for two lovers to kill themselves when they have only known each other for around 3 days. The situation here is very odd ending with multiple deaths and all because of one character .In the play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare there are two lovers whos families are involved in a problematic feud. These are enemies who love each other that are doomed from the start and in the end they both tragically die by taking their own lives. Due to all the poor decisions made by Romeo.
In the play, Romeo and Juliet, there are many people to blame for Romeo and Juliet’s death. This is because Romeo and Juliet both committed suicide. When choosing who to blame, you have to look at who drove them the most. The best choices would be Juliet, Friar Lawrence, and Romeo. These people were picked because they play a big enough role in the deaths because of how much they were involved.

Set in the Northern Italian cities of Verona and Mantua, tells the story of Romeo and Juliet and their love for each other, even though their families are enemies. The friar is responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet’s by his decisions. He was willing to marry two kids from feuding families because he thought that it would end the feud. Terrible idea it just made things super complicated.
There are tragedies everywhere and everytime, with these tragedies you have to blame someone or something for it. In Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare they’d blame fate instead of themselves because they could have been responsible for the disaster they caused. Romeo was to blame for the misfortune in the city of verona. Romeo’s responsible for his hastiness, responsible for the deaths that happened in under 3 days and Convincing Friar Lawrence to get Romeo and Juliet.
