As the presidential race comes close to the primary it will mean an end for Obama’s term. In a recent interview, he asked the question that most American had on their mind. Which was if he could would he yearn for a third term, to which he responded “no because he's confident that things are the lot better in the United States than when he came into office’. In fact is true while in office he’s done so much good just like he promised that he would, for example, decreasing unemployment rate, and increasing more jobs and countless other examples. But where no stranger to the fact that there’s still more work to be done in the world and he acknowledge that maybe the next person that he hands the key will hope that they can do as much as possible to help this country. …show more content…
In hindsight, that is such a hard goal to acknowledge since the parties in government have such different views which make it hard to agree on certain things. The truth of the matter is that the way the government works is up to the people in government and if things were to change they will have to make it happen and it doesn’t look like they want to change to happen. Yet that’s what us the American people want is to change the tone of government.
There’s a saying that everything good must come to an end, and with Obama’s term coming to an end in Next January, he’s trying to do as much good as possible before it all ends. When it does end he’s not to worry about handing the key to the next person that takes office. But I know this presidential race brings a lot of nerves since most of the candidates are a joke and the one’s that are not have some big shoes to fill if and when they take
The Rolling Stones were right when they said, “You can’t always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, well you just might find, you get what you need.” Barack Obama, after 8 years of darkness, you were what we needed as a country. You got a lot accomplished in your residency of the White House. While disaster seems destined in this upcoming election, I have become entirely more grateful of everything you did for this nation. Barack, you were left a huge mess and I commend you on your ability to clean it up make a difference.
Just as the original framers of the constitution established limitations on the government within the Bill of Rights, it is to the utmost importance that the president have term limitations imposed as well. Published by the Los Angeles Times, the article ‘Let Us Limit Presidential Tenure’, urges an amendment be passed by Congress to resolve this issue. Finding this specific passage was no easy task as the tedious process required search terms such as ‘Presidential Terms Constitutional’, ‘Executive Terms of the Presidency’, and ‘Presidential Tradition Broken’ were utilized to find the article. Various topics were found in the database such as public opinion regarding Roosevelt's term, the division between Republicans
When Barack Obama, the first African American President for the United States was elected, I and many other citizens of the United States thought there was a great new President arising, and what we came to learn was that Obama was not the best thing for the American people. November 4, 2008, Barack Obama was sworn into office, and from that day on the United States has changed greatly. Obama came into office after being elected and laid out a number of clear promises: to cut taxes for most Americans, to get the United States out of Iraq in orderly fashion, and to expand health care (Nagourney1). Obama promised different things when he came into the office, and in my personal opinion, he has done nothing but drag the United States’ economy even further into the ground. One of President Obama’s first plans were to bring home the troops from Iraq, which in some cases he did, but troops were also sent over to Afghanistan for Operation Enduring Freedom. One of the units of the military that was sent over to Afghanistan in 2009 and returned in 2010 was my step dad’s
President Obama’s hope for the American people and for all of us, Democrats and Republicans, is to work through differences, and to overcome the weight of politics. America is a land of big dreamers and high hopes that have sustained us through revolution and civil war, depression and world war, a struggle for civil and social rights. Obama’s state of the union address lets us know that we uphold our most cherished values because it strengthens our country and keeps us safe.
In this paper, I intend to analyse the extent to which the current Labour administration shows the characteristics of a presidential government. To do this, the term presidential' must first be defined. A definition of a presidential government that is generally accepted by political analysts is a system of government in which the powers of the president are constitutionally separate from those of the legislature.' The British system of government is parliamentary and does not match the definition of presidential. Therefore, the question must be answered by looking at the individual features of a presidential government and comparing them with aspects of the Labour
all men, no matter if they were rich or poor (Collier's 509). He presented many
Political time deals with the years between major shifts in the ideological trajectory the United States undertakes; it exemplifies the presidency as the means to progress the political movement. Political time is not infinite; it is reset when the existing ideological trajectory is replaced by another. For example, the article discussed President Ronald Reagan as the executive that reset political time from the Democratic New Deal to a more conservative movement. The president of the United States plays an important role in political time. “Those operating on political time see the president as an agent of change poised to break through the knot of interests and institutions that block concerted action on the agenda
On inauguration day, January 20, 2017, this country will have a new President. As I reflect on Barrack Obama’s presidency, I feel a sense of disappointment
President Obama, like all Presidents before him, delivered a farewell address to the United States on January 20, 2017. As he stepped down as President he was eloquent and it was as clear as ever that he is a master of oration. Obama will go down in history as the first Black President as well as a strong orator who had the ability to captivate an audience through his use of ethos, pathos and logos amongst other rhetorical devices. His farewell address is a perfect example of Obama’s mastery of discourse as it is chock full of oratorical devices. Obama’s message to the American people and to the rest of the world is that it is essential that we maintain a sense of what it means to have a democracy and that in order to maintain peace and
Within his speech, Barack Obama admits that the United States is in the "midst of a crisis" but he believes that it can change, but he also makes it clear that the change cannot happen overnight. Obama's inspirational tone stirs up the nation with phrases such as “dust ourselves off” and “bigger than the sum of our individual ambitions.” Barack Obama's message persuades his audience because the message is believable and delivered by an honest man. In his previous speeches, Obama spoke of race and prejudice, an economic crisis and his hopes and fears with such intelligence that when
There will be many times where people will look back into history years from now and remember the significant events of the 2000s, and a big reason for that is the advances both in technology and society that took place. On the day of November 4, 2008, a man of strong beliefs from Hawaii named Barack Obama announced that he was running for president of the United States. He won the election and was sworn into office becoming the 44th president of the United States on January 20, 2009. He has not only marked a page in history in becoming the first African American president, but has tried to work to better the economic and political aspects of the country. After his term in office was coming to a close, he won the re-election in 2012 and will be currently running in office until January 2017 when his final term ends and a new presidential candidate will gain office.
After the Revolutionary War, the United States wanted to implant a strong relationship with Britain and also with France. Thomas Jefferson, the third president of the United States, helped settle hostility with Britain and with France. By doing so, he helped to negotiate the Louisiana Purchase, started trading more with other countries, and also made it easier for immigrants to become citizens.
The address describes insightfully there is always more to do, always more to learn, and always more to achieve. “Your body of work is never done” (Obama 6). In other words, Obama feels that “its about the daily labor, the many individual acts, the choices large and small that add up over time, over a lifetime, to a lasting legacy” (Obama 5). These are the statements Obama makes in his speech. It is about the daily labor, which means individuals should never let a job distract them from what matters in life or compromise values, principles, and commitments (5). No matter what title you obtain in your life, life is short and there is always more to accomplish. Choices small and big add up over a lifetime and it is up to the nation to make the most out of their lives. In order to make his speech persuasive, Obama uses these rhetorical elements: pathos, kairos, and structure matters.
Although it is often said that the President of the United States holds the most powerful office in the world, this does not mean that he is able to decide very much for himself. The American Constitution, which was adapted in 1789, clearly states the Separation of Powers. Thus, the president makes up only one third of the government, namely the executive branch. He is also controlled by a complex system of checks and balances, which makes sure that he (or any of the other branches, for that matter) does not become too powerful. We will now have a look at the different problems which may be facing a recently elected president, and then discuss to what extent his powers are important.
While Obama is campaigning for the upcoming presidential election, many citizens have voiced their opposition to re-electing him into office. The economy’s downward spiral over the last four years has affected his loss of votes and now the
