What Shaped My Political Views

As you can see my platform from picture, my party politics is Liberal Democrat. 2 Generally young, well-educated and financially comfortable, the Next Generation Left have very liberal attitudes on many issues, including homosexuality, abortion, the environment and foreign policy (Suh).

Based on my responses, this quiz placed me into the next generation left which includes people with liberal values. As a person has different political views towards different things, my views are also scattered between democrats and republicans in different prospects. I stand as a democrat while taking the views related to criminal justice and immigration where they are more liberal. In some cases, like the issue of gun control, I am in support of republicans as they strongly oppose the use of guns and hand arms to control the crime.

When it comes to how which political party and interest group have helped shaped my mindset about our current age of politics, the first two that come to mind would be the Republican Political Party and Planned Parenthood (the interest group). When it comes to participation I honestly have little if at all any of it within any of these political influences. I can ally myself with these ideologies and properly defend my views on them and on other aspects as well, but I don’t go out of my own personal way to state my views and protest on behalf of them. In short, I support my own views on these influences but don’t go out of my way to support them besides my vote in elections and personal defense on my beliefs if the topic ever comes up.

I would say that this is quite an accurate representation of my political ideology. Despite not having all the same views as the majority of this group holds, I deeply align with many of them. For example, this group is slightly more conservative and leans toward the Republican party, but holds the opinions of both parties, which is an accurate assessment. I believe that I am mostly conservative, but I also hold a lot of mixed views espoused by both political parties. The Young outsiders are largely skeptical of activist government, which I believe to be true, which proves the quiz results accurate. Environmental and liberal social policies are also supported by this group, many of which I also support, once again, consistent with my results. Today, I look back to everything that has happened and how did I come to the thoughts and opinions I have about politics. Family was a primary influence in the development of my political orientation, mainly due to constant relationship between my parents and I. Schools became a source to enforce what I been hearing at home. Then Mass Media took over and tried to paint a picture of functions as a political information-giver to adolescents and young children. A lot of things have played a role in my personal political socialization. Political ideology is the places where you have informed your beliefs from. The first example of where I get my personal political socialization is from my family. Second I have influence from my location in the U.S.A. Finally I get influence from Narragansett High School which is the school I currently attend. That is where I received my personal political socialization from.

I have not had much interest in politics until recently. Before last year, I did not care for anything related to politics; I thought that it was all boring and had little to no affect on me on a personal level. I am more interested in politics nowadays. I know better now that it does affect me and I should care about it. I had learned about the concepts of political socialization, party identification, political tolerance, political trust, political efficacy in government class and how they affect my political beliefs. In my life I have never had any political enforcement or strict religious influence. My parents were very lenient when it came too political preaching.
