Tobacco companies should invest more in doing research to do a breakthrough invention so they could produce products that are healthier as the anti-cigarettes campaign is showing definite results. With e-cigarettes that states themselves as healthier products, maybe in the future the demand will shift again to e-cigarettes. Only by discovering new things that satisfy the customer’s want and need will the company be successful.

Electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) are devices that deliver aerosolized nicotine to the user by heating a liquid (typically propylene glycol) containing nicotine and flavoring agents. Most devices share a common design – a plastic tube containing a battery, an airflow sensor, a heating element and a cartridge containing the liquid (Figure 1).

Currently, the FDA Center for Tobacco Products regulates cigarettes, tobacco, and smokeless tobacco and only e-cigarettes that are marketed to the consumer for therapeutic purposes are regulated by the FDA Center for Drug Evaluation and Research.

Every year, an estimated 443, 000 Americans die of smoking related illnesses, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Relatively new to the market are electronic cigarettes or e-cigarettes. “Vaping”, as it is known by users, has become increasingly more attractive as an alternative to traditional, cancer causing, cigarettes. Although sales of e-cigarettes are estimated to reach $2 billion dollars (Dennis, Brady) this year, many Americans still have reservations about the safety of a new nicotine delivery system.

All of the brands are on the market without FDA evaluation or government oversight; which means it is difficult to know the chemical make-up and the safety of this device. One of my first memories in the United States was taking a Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E) class. I was in sixth grade and a top student, as talking about drugs and alcohol and the way they affect us was fascinating to me. When asked to write a personal essay I pondered the many things that I could write about and nothing seemed quite right but one of the events that I truly believe changed my life. That is why I chose to write about basic and what I have learned from being in the army. Everyone has their own stories so no one will have a story that is similar to mine because everyone's life is different. That’s what makes mine stand out, I can guarantee that my reader will be able to experience something that they themselves have not even if they have been to basic themselves. My hook in the beginning is actually how I wanted my whole essay to be, but the more that I wrote the more my essay changed to a more inner thought sort of essay. This change hurt me later on though when I changed from past tense to present tense and back again without catching it. This was an easy fix however and some of my other minor errors were brought to my attention by Alex in my writing group when we switched documents with each other.
