In America I have been told your education costs you millions. Here education is universal and state-funded by the government. We go through one year of kindergarten, four years of primary education, six years of secondary, and then on to university. Schooling is very important to us here because this is where we learn the great ideologies of collectivism and our all powerful leader. We are taught only to achieve the goals of the state, and learn almost nothing about the useless outside world. Our literacy and knowledge of the North Korean system is so high that knowing anything about any other civilization is not needed.
Education in America is one of the most important issues that face our nation. If the education in America is not thought of one of most serious issues we face, our nation as a whole will fall. There are many debates and they seemly extend to all walks of life. The debates range from the decline in education, school vouchers, and the no child left behind law. As a nation, the United States is ranked above others. We must search for that solution to all of the pro’s and con’s in education. The solution should allow all walks of life to excel in the education realm. After all, the children of today will be the leaders of tomorrow.
Advanced technology and forms of communication have changed the way we look at our nation. The current political climate and the cultural movement that is happening in our nation is going to go down in history as a revolution. A revolution where news headlines are instantaneously on our phone screens, and thanks to our advanced technology, a whole world of information is a few clicks away. However, despite these advancements in technology, the cultural change in America is often slowed down because there is a general lack of education. In America, education is the one, if not the biggest barriers that economically and institutionally suppress an overwhelming amount of the nation’s adults. Majority of adults in America do not have basic reading and writing skills yet education is still not a priority in America. There is a crucial need for education in America, now more than ever. In my opinion, the only reason for the current political climate in America is the lack of education that brings basic awareness. The solution to what we are witnessing as a nation is an education that makes individuals aware of the reality of our circumstances and allows them to see a perspective from multiple points of views. In this paper, I will present my argument on why education should be made a priority in America.
In an intelligence-based economy, education is important to national prosperity and individual success. Huge achievement gaps and opportunities must shrink to non-existence, and every student must receive a well education that prepares them for college and careers in the world as it is today. Comparing the United States education system to other countries shows that the United States scored lower than nineteen other counties and education systems in reading in the 2012 Program for International Student Assessment. Germany and Poland in particular are two countries that have now surpassed the United States. During the same study, scores showed that twenty-nine nations outperformed the United States by a large amount in mathematics, and in science, there have been twenty-two education systems that scored higher than the United States (Heitin).
Education in America is highly valued, but are kids being educated in today’s age in the right way? There are arguments about how different schools have certain methods of teaching that no school is the same. Kids that go from K-12 are always drilled into believing that they have two options to either work hard and go to college for a degree, or to fail and not get anywhere and end up working low paying jobs. Traditional views of schooling are affecting kids and there must be a more positive solution to fix that. The educational system must address the issues on how kids that go from k-12 are being graded, and how schools are teaching students to conform to a certain norm and not to let their creativity bloom.
Many of the practices of high-performing systems are implemented in some U.S. districts and states but not systematically or at scale. The reason is due to lack of combined effort. Every political figure does not view education as a must for all. Some make it their life’s work to try to provide educational opportunities to every child. Martin Luther King, Jr. (1968) said, “I’m going to work and do everything that I can do to see that you get a good education.” The motivation to make changes needs the actions of political members seeking to listen to teachers and work at a plan that will prove beneficial to student across the United States. It should not be where one state senate push for change for their state with little to no regard toward the greater good of America.
“The principle goal of education in the schools should be creating men and women who are capable of doing new things, not simply repeating what other generations have done.” –Jean Piaget (A quote by Jean Piaget, 2015) In this quote Piaget captures the pure essence of education in America. Our educational system was built to create a better society that can grow and learn from history. I claim that the purpose of education in America is not just to maintain a status quo, but moreover to educate children better than anywhere else in the world while also providing them equal opportunities for a successful future.
We live in a big world full of social inequality. Some people have access to necessary resources such as food, clothes and receive a high income that allows them to buy goods and services, not really necessary for their survival, but just to satisfy them. On the other side, we see people without money to by needs, such as food or clothes. These poor people doesn't have access to basic sanitation which makes them ill, and as they have no money, most of the time, they end up dying.
What does it mean to be the greatest? Does it mean being number one in all aspects? Does it mean having zero issues or problems? Many people in this wonderful country believe America is the greatest. This appears as so when looked at from a surface level. However, when dug deeper into the roots of America, there is much more corruption than people are led to believe. There are various issues that most people do not see that are occurring right in front of their eyes. Many aspects of America’s systems are problematic including the educational system, social system, and various policies.
Education, by far, is one of the most valuable things in a person's’ life. Fortunately, I have always had the privilege of gaining a wonderful education from my local public school district. In addition to gaining a superb education, I have learned to value education. Without gaining a proper education, filled with diversity and knowledge, people lack a mindset which allows them to grow in character and mind. A quality education must be available to all citizens of America, despite socioeconomic standings.
Former Senator Blanche Lincoln remarks, “Whether it's making sure that families have access to quality health care and child care, or making sure that our children receive the best educational opportunities we can give them, we must remain committed to these needs because our children are our future.” Lincoln’s assertion is a fundamental aspect of the America that I believe in, because education is important to the well-being and the future of our great country.

Education is valuable to the citizens of America. The path to attaining higher education is in many ways, the optimal method for people to achieve what the previous generations could not. Currently, there are about 20 million students enrolled in college, and the number is rapidly increasing. However, many families and individuals are not able to pay the steep price needed to enter the education system. In the recent decade (2000 – 2009), student loans in America have more than quadrupled, going from $149 billion to $630 billion. There are currently two options for students to finance their education, the Federal Family Education Loan (FFEL), which guarantees loans from private lenders, and the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan Program (FDLP). Both programs offer similar loans, interest rates, and repayment options, but they differ from one another when discussing how the programs are administered, funded, and carried out. Furthermore, each program entails a different cost to the federal government. Even though each program receives and initiates their funding differently and has separate administration processes, one of the biggest issues with the financing programs is that the federal government bears most of the losses in both. Action must be taken to address the issue and ensure that there is a consistent stream of available loans with the lowest amount of risk for students in need.
The United States of America is the world most powerful country in the world, dominating the world’s economic and political system. Millions of foreign students come to America for higher education each year. Ironically enough, America public school system is not so glorious. Indeed, it is not effective where teachers and students lacked motivation and interaction to develop critical thinking and innovation. Michael Moore in the article “Idiot Nation” and John Taylor Gatto in “Against School” argued that the education system in the United States is deeply flawed. Moore elaborated school system has a poor curriculum, teacher lack of enthusiasms, facilities are in adverse condition and the library is lack of resources and outdated books are still in use. While Gatto discusses we still apply a system called Prussian, an old theory since the Revolutionary War, which restrains students from developing creativities, autonomy and enthusiastic to experiment new concepts. Throughout the articles and researches, we must accept the fact that our school system met the problems and students are sufferers. Because students are the country’s future, therefore the government should prioritize by give more fund to improve the education system. Once the fund is available, not only school system will be able to pay teachers’ salary appropriately and give efficiency training skills, but also replacing new textbooks and implementing modern technology to help students learn actively and become
As a child, I knew money was scarce. Though my family had one parent and one income, we sufficed. On the news, reporters spoke of the economic downfall. Elementary teachers discussed the economic social ladder and daily statistics about increasing poverty levels. But what is poverty?
I believe that everyone in America should have the right and opportunity to be properly educated in a decent school that is properly staffed and equipped to handle the diverse needs of their communities. After all, an education is what separates us from the animals. To me, a proper education would be well rounded. So of course it would include reading, writing and arithmetic, Earth and life sciences, local, national and world history, social studies, health, economics, art, music, literature, and physical education. Now, I do believe that our public schools do try to provide this type of education to every citizen, but I also believe that there are many children that are left behind, and there are many schools that are under staffed, under
