“Maxen? Say something. Please. And above all, promise me you don’t hate me.”
Like a fish gasping on land, Maxen’s mouth opened and closed, yet no sound emerged. His legs gave way, and once his kneecaps cracked against the floor, he closed his eyes, tears carving their way down his cheeks.
Audra knelt before him and wiped away the tears caught in the fresh stubble darkening his jaw. This news was a lot to absorb, and she would not push him to speak until he was ready.
After taking several long, shuddering breaths, Maxen opened his eyes and reached out to cradle the back of Audra’s head. “I didn’t realize you had a child until Rory was more than a year old. I paid people of news of Aber Hael, feigning interest because I had once lived there,

Some part of you must be furious I hid the truth all these years.” That was her biggest fear, that this disclosure would harden and infuriate him once he had time to ponder it.
“Nothing could be further from the truth. You had to keep this to yourself. If you’d told Carlton or anyone else that I had fathered Rory? You’d be dead. He’d be dead. You did what was necessary to protect your child. That is the true definition of a mother.” He pulled her to his chest. “You saved our son. You bore this secret all these years to keep him safe and happy. How could I be anything other than grateful?”
“You promise you still love me, Maxen?”
“You’re the wife of my heart and the mother of my child. I could not love you more if I tried.”
With that declaration, Audra broke into hysterical sobs of relief. They remained on their knees before the hearth, and Maxen held her, muttering gentle reassurances into her hair until her tears ran out.
“Come.” He helped her up. “Have a sip of wine and sit next to me. You must be exhausted.”
Audra realized she was. Bone-deep fatigue weighted her muscles and made her thoughts come as slowly as honey. The need for rest consumed her.
She tugged Maxen’s hand inclined her head to the bed. “I need to lie down before I collapse. Come with

His hands shot out to steady himself, but when he realized Audra remained beside him, he slowly relaxed.
“Sorry, I was—”
“Scared?” asked Audra, as she rose and stretched.
“Yes. Scared I’d lost you. Again.”
“I felt the same when I woke.”
He gave her a small smile. “Now that I’m calm, I realize that was a spectacular sleep. I haven’t slept that well in years. Sixteen to be precise.”
“I completely understand.” Audra smoothed her dress. “I need to use the garderobe, but when I return, may we talk more?”
“Yes. I was hoping you’d want to.”
Patting down her hair to make sure the intricate braids Faye had woven had not turned into tangled rat’s nest, Audra poked her head out the anteroom door and garnered her guard’s attention.
“All is well within,” she explained. “Maxen and I will be discussing matters of state until sunrise or beyond, so you are aware. And it is my continued wish that we are not disturbed.”
The guard clicked his heels together and bowed. “As you wish, Your Highness.”
Audra dipped back into the chamber and strode to the garderobe. She was the queen of Aber Hael and did not need to make excuses to her guard, but old habits died
Macbeth, the play was one of Shakespeare's bloody and goriest tragedies. It was based on a true story of the Celtic throne. It is a play about murder, power, ambition, greed and deception.
A truck with “Vision Mountain Mission Project” painted on the side slowed to a stop in a rural village in the Dominican Republic. I stepped off the truck into the sunny, humid weather. Instantly, I was embraced by the community’s residents with enthusiasm and optimism, despite their torn clothing, ragged flip flops, and tiny, rugged shacks. While organizing various stations at the clinical site for free medical services, I pre-examined a number of patients whom other medical personnel and I were expected to care for that day. Outside the tent, I was taken aback by the tremendous amount of people that were waiting at the entrance. Each of these patients was given the opportunity to receive health screenings, vital readings, medications, and
On hands and knees, Drea and Carina crept over. Sobbing, they held one another and watched. All they could do was bear witness, and the helplessness shattered the last kernel of strength within
His voice began to crack, which was followed by a pearl of sadness creeping his hazel eyes. He rose his tense arms from the leather arm rests beside him and slowly tracked them down his thighs, resting
“It didn’t seem right to wake you when you’d barely slept,” he answered with a wicked grin.
Humans undergo several stages during their lifetime including growth, development, reproduction and senescence. Senescence is defined as the deteriorative biological changes that organisms experience as they age eventually leading to death. These changes include low metabolism, a weak immune system, memory loss, poor vision and loss of hearing. Senescence begins in humans during their post-reproductive years. However, gerontology research has shown that individuals who reproduce late have longer life spans compared to individuals who reproduce early. Nonetheless, it does not indicate that senescence is inevitable. All organisms experience senescence,
Themis did not move. None of the dead would move, for they all frolicked in the next world, happy and full of peace while Audra remained behind and suffered with her grief. Jerking herself upright, she tore at her bun until she held handfuls of red
There was a burning sensation going down her cheeks, they wouldn't stop. And no matter how hard she tried to hold it back she just ended up sobbing harder, taking large stuttering breaths every second. She could barely see, the tears clouded her eyes and she felt oh-so weak.
She sunk back into the couch. “It's not all of a sudden.” she said quietly.
Alison was sitting in the Rec Room at 2am the same night, staring out at the city. She didn't want to go to the roof, she couldn't go back to the roof. It reminded her of Noel, and Noel was gone. She sat on the window sill, with her legs pulled to her chest. She had been sitting there since she had taken a shower. It took forever for the water going down the drain to turn clear. She cried the whole time, to a point she was out of tears.
He walks in as he sits next to me, rubbing my back, "mum and dad have a hold up at the hospital so they won't be home until late" Terrance says,
“I’ll be sure to remember that,” she replies, her tone seeming tired with the conversation. Or perhaps she was just really tired, it was 3am after all. “Well, if that 's all—“
“Vaughan.” Audra rushed him and grabbed at his tunic. “Please, I am begging you not to say anything. I ask for Maxen, not myself. I will give you anything you asked.”
She regretted what she said years before it exited her lips; he wouldn't get what she meant.
“You’d better be. Now, let’s head on home. You’ll be needing your sleep for tomorrow.” Teddy paled at the mention of tomorrow and
