When people think about the discovery of America, the main topic often thought about Christopher Columbus and the Columbian Exchange. The Columbian Exchange started after Christopher Columbus' voyage to the Americas’ in 1492. The Columbian Exchange was more than just about America or Christopher Columbus. The Columbian Exchange was more than just goods going from one country to the next. It was a change in the way of life as people would know it. Even today goods and services are exchanged across the world and it all begin with the Columbian Exchange. The Columbian Exchange would shape the world for years to come. The Colombian Exchange was the transference of crops, diseases, animals, culture and people and from Europe, Africa, and Asia to the Americas and vice versa.
Crops were an important aspect of the Columbian Exchange. Then Old World received crops such as potatoes, sweet potatoes and corn that became “staple crops” and help their population flourished. Today, these crops are still used for not only food, but other …show more content…

People often times do not think about the impact the Columbian exchange had on those who derived from Africa. Those who come from African descent are all over the world today as result of the Columbian. There are many blacks today in places like the Caribbean, Brazil, Portugal, the United Kingdom and etc. This is a result of blacks being taken into slavery therefore they ended up in all these different places. People do not often time think about how blacks around the world got where they are today. Slavery had a large impact on the world due to the Columbian exchange. Bringing blacks into new areas also resulted in a lot of the change of culture. Although blacks would be oppressed for a long time by many of these countries they would help shape some of their culture. The Columbian is one of the many reasons people see blacks all across the globe
