America is, and always has been a very ambitious and prestigious country. America is known for being an accepting country to numberless amounts of people, cultures, and ideals. Even from the early years of America, it has always been seen as a tremendous, model country. We went from being the first country to have a self-run government to being an inspiring example to other countries to have similar policies. The United States has set many precedents throughout its existence. To me, being American means that I am part of a great country that gives us freedom, does not discriminate, and cares about its citizens. America is based on the idea of freedom and independence. We fought the Revolutionary War in order to gain this luxury . All of the
What does it mean to be American? It is a privilege to be American because I know that I am safe from the things that plague the minds of people living in other places and I have the right to vote and be free. Some of the ways that I represented these main ideals and feelings on my collage was by adding words like Proud, Safe, and Religious Freedom and by adding things like the I voted sticker and the words I’m Free. I featured pictures from different American patriotic holidays, quotes, important documents and songs, and pieces from our money and absurd measurement systems. Us Americans like to be unique, so we try to set ourselves apart with inventions such as the pickup truck, backwards baseball hat, and air conditioner, which I included
Being an American is having freedom and respecting our country. American isn't always awesome place. People make bad decisions and do stupid things, but American is beautiful place. First thing to do to respect are country is to say” The Pledge of Allegiance” in school. Second things is if you are at a game standing up and put your hand on our heart for The Star Stander Bender and third appreciate our troops that fight are country or who fought and lost there lives for us. It’s not that hard, but rude people don’t like to support American.
What does being an american mean? many ask this.. but do they TRULY know what it means ? Being an american means that you will not have to worry about another country's soldier banging on your door at an unruly hour demanding a place to stay. It means that you can have a peaceful sleep at night not having to worry about waking up to bombs and your house on fire and the sound of guns and people screaming.
Being American means many things to many different people.Being in America,I think that our main focus is on freedom. While this is a good point, there are many other things that could be focused on.Perhaps one focus could be like what life is like in countries and how privileged we really are to have these freedoms. Many Americans also overlook the fighting and protest that it took to get to where we are as a society now.People now that have been born with these rights think nothing of them as they are a given to us since birth. Also, any rights that people do lack that might even be the smallest inconvenience people react in extreme ways. This just goes to show how unappreciative of our given rights we are.
In this essay I'm going to talk about what it means to be an American. while explaining what it means to truly be an American. One thing about being American is being able to choose anything you want to pursue say you want to become a basketball player, musician, janitor, and many other opportunities in America an American has, being American is a lot easier then many people think but it is also hard there are challenges that come with the life of an average American just as well as there are rewards that come with it.
Could someone go to be not so good at something to working hard and be the best at it? Many people today debate and discuss what it means to be American. I think to be American it means to have an American dream and an economic opportunity to have a better life.
Judge Learned Hand made it clear that liberty “lies in the hearts of men and women” and does not depend on any laws nor the constitution. I agree with Hand because it does not matter what the constitution or any law says, if we as people of the United States do not support what the constitution states it is useless. If we are strongly against it, it will not stand. To me, being an American is capitalizing on my freedom and pursuing all the opportunities that are brought forth. We live in a free country and have all the opportunities in the world to do what we please.
What does it mean to be an American?. Many people feel that the American Dream is something hard to conquer. In reality the American Dream is just living like any average American in the United States , living with the right to have life, liberty , and the pursuit of happiness. It means that Americans have the right to vote if they want , have the right to speak their minds , or even publish what they want . It is being a republic civilization with a national government system that limits and protects American citizen laws from being violated.
Ask a hundred people and more than likely you will receive a hundred different answers. This is due to our overgrowing diverse country. Some people may give you an answer of a stereotypical American, for example Americans are materialistic, racist, and arrogant. Being an American means many things to me.
What does being an American mean to me? That is a question that many people over their entire lives have at least once thought about. Being an American citizen gives me many rights and liberties, and that makes this country so unique. I have visited other countries on my vacations, and many have relied on people coming from other countries to help make money, mostly from tourism. These countries have been changing their laws and government to make them more free, but visiting those countries as a tourism-which in some countries I have for months at a time-is very different then living there and being a resident.
Being an American means a lot to me. I will name some of the main reasons for why it does. First of all, I get clean water. In other countries, most people get dirty water from lakes or ponds. If I get injured in America, there are good hospitals there to nurse me back to health. Some people don't have a proper house and other people have to live outside. In America, my family and I get to live in a house. Education is also a big part of America. If I hadn't had an education here, I wouldn't be writing this! Assuming that I wasn't living in America, things would have been different. I am glad that I am an American citizen.
To be American means a lot to me especially if you were born and raised in America. To me I think America is a great place to travel when you live in different countries like South America and Europe. Places like South America would love to come to America because they really don’t know how it is America. They can go places they’ve never been before, we’ve already been there so, it’s not really new to us. If they are going to go shopping they should go Los Angeles, California because they have everything you would want in their mall.
As America has grown more diverse, the definition of an American has changed through the past centuries. America is not what it used to be, our nation no longer cares about giving and caring for others. Americans are so caught up in the commotion of being on top and not about what goes on in the world around them. There are many reasons the definition of an American has changed but these are just a few of the generalized reasons: how Americans no longer care for giving, society changing, and the desire for wanting more.
What do you think it means to be an American. I think it means to “Speak softly and carry a big stick; you will go far.”-(Teddy Roosevelt). That quote shows the true American spirit, Because to be an American you should accept everyone you come across unless they cross you then you take action and attack back 10 times harder.
America was not built on fear. America was built on courage, on imagination and an unbeatable determination to do the job at hand. -Harry S. Trueman
