In my project, I want to talk about the weaknesses and strengths of University of Southern California. Through analyzing the weaknesses and strengths of USC, we would know that USC is good for applying. For the strenghts of USC, I would talk about the educational independence, the social network, and the good financial program. Beside the strengths, USC also has weaknesses, such as unsafe neighborhoods, racial discrimination inside of the campus, weak transportation, and incovenient location. Although USC has weaknesses, some of the weaknesses are not so serious because those weaknesses are improved and fixed actively by USC. Overall, I believe USC is a good university for
The turmoil at Florida after Urban Myer left, the chaos that has been Tennessee, which has only recently been calmed by the inception of Butch Jones or the consistent underperformance of Mark Richt coached Georgia teams. However, although coaching is a factor, perhaps the true reason lies with recruiting. It stands to reason that the better players on the field will win. Yes, we all know of the team that overperforms. They play above their ability. In most cases though, when lined up across from each other on the line of scrimmage, the best player will win. This year, Tennessee, Georgia and Florida are all boasting top 10 recruiting classes, although Tennessee might be just outside. However, they have had two top 10 classes in recent years. Better players, an upgrade in coaches and a desire to regain dominance or at least relevance in their own conference is why this might be the SEC east’s
This early in the football season, it's still difficult to get a clear idea about the strength of any given team. Most of major conference teams have been playing against lesser competition, making it precarious to pinpoint exactly where the team sits as far as talent is concerned. It's kind of like doing a 5 Dimes review without ever visiting the website.
In the Ducks worst loss since 2003, their weaknesses were completely exposed. Oregon's secondary has looked vulnerable in their first three games, but never more than it did against Utah. With the Ducks offense struggling, the defense certainly did not bail them out. The Utes had 530 total yards of offense, and quarterback Travis Wilson
UCLA would go on to finish 10-3 in back-to-back seasons, which many would think is an average to good season for UCLA. However, Los Angeles had been dominated by the Trojans and their record from 1990-2009 is a clear example of that. USC played in 13 bowl games in 19 years not counting the two games that were vacated. USC would also win eight conference championships in this span of 19 years, also not counting the one they would vacate in 2005. USC would also go on to win one national championship during that span but would have to vacate another from their 2004 season. UCLA, on the other hand, didn't experience the same level of success. The traditional basketball powerhouse went to the same number of bowls before the sanctions were handed down however they didn't receive much notoriety for their achievements as they only amassed three conference championships, which all of them occurred from 1990-1995. The Bruins would also not win a national championship like their inner-city rival did.
Although college football is the third-most-popular sport, the majority of schools lose revenue on athletics. The National Collegiate Athletic Association, also known as the NCAA, is promoting beneficial ideas to help players in need while increasing academic standards. As stated in the article, “On some LSU teams, Martin said, half of the players are “special admits””, which means multitudes of players do not achieve the same levels of academic success as “normal” students. As long as academic budgets are miniscule compared to athletic budgets, there will always be controversy. This tension increased when “legendary head coach” Joe Paterno, along with Jerry Sandusky, were fired for being involved in a sex-abuse scandal with a minor.
As far as my take on this, I find this pretty funny. Look USC was bound to do something
In life, with the inevitability of time and aging, comes the process of maturing and moving forward on a path into the future. The most immediate and foreseeable destination along this route to maturation is college. Despite the obviousness in continuing education at a college, the “right” or most compatible college is often hidden among the numerous choices that are offered. Out of the multitude of available colleges and universities, the University of South Carolina and Clemson University provides a range of choices and options for large public universities with renowned football teams. Clemson is a large public college in rural South Carolina, with a robust military heritage, a reputation of having more rigorous entry requirements,
They have a solid foundation that is respected everywhere. Their mission, vision, and values are strong and what are needed for the success of the programs throughout the United States. If they can keep the problems to a minimum there would be no way to stop them from being the most successful in the sport business. Also, the NCAA showed that they can overcome any obstacle and move forward which one needs to do in order to be successful and help other people and fan forget. While they can always use the Penn State scandal as an example and learning point, they allowed the university, fans, staff and players to move on by lifting a ban half way through the time they were sentenced. Sometimes one has to swallow their pride for the better of a business and organization to
The Michigan defense so far this year has been nothing short of superb. In their first six games, the defense only allowed two rushing touchdowns and less than one-hundred total rushing yards a game. (Brouwer 1). Outstanding. As sports reviewer Chris Peterson proclaims in his review for gbmwolevrine.com, “[…] when you dive deep into the numbers, [it is] hard not to call Michigan football’s defense the best in the country” (3). With their great plays on defense frustrating opposing offenses game after game, Michigan has definitely rebuilt their defense. The defense is one of the main reasons why the team is national championship worthy. Another area that the team is working on is developing their fresh quarterback.
I am an African American, male, Combat Veteran of the Gulf War who entered the world with a hug. My grandmother Louise Hurd, who we called Mama Lou, delivered me in the back room of her house, located in Los Angeles, California in a small community called Watts. Mama Lou had a warm soul and loved everyone; she had 12 children and 48 grandchildren. Sundays was the day of unity, we all met at her house, where my cousin and I would spend the entire afternoon playing. When it was time to leave, the remaining kids would run along side of the car waving. These first experiences in the importance of human relationships had a lasting effect on me, which is believed to have given me the ability to easily form
The admission requirements for University of Southern California are rigorous, fastidious, and highly competitive. The admission process takes into a consideration of factors. In addition, only 18.02% of student applications are accepted out of 51920 each school year. Surprisingly USC doesn’t have a preferred GPA range for their applicants but, their average GPA is 3.8 (Naviance). Many students who applied to USC were in the top 10% or at least top 20% of their high school class. Thus, concerning SAT scores, the lowest combined score was a 1910 with the highest being a 2225, and lowest combined score for the ACT was a 29 with the highest being 33 (Naviance). Among other things, an essay is required to be admitted, something that can be taken very serious because it can make or break if you are accepted or not (USC). Along with doing essays, you also need letter of recommendations, its best to get them from
To me, USC is a superior educational system with a strong alumni association. From a networking standpoint USC would be the most beneficial to the advancement of my career. Being able to collaborate with my colleagues I meet while attending USC will help me propel my career into a leadership role. Subsequently the ability to attend a school that is in close proximity to where I work will open up effortless opportunities to network, rather than if I was located across the country. My next step in my career will be transferring into a manager role, however to make that jump is extremely difficult without the right connections. Becoming a part of the Trojan community, and the colleagues I meet through the program, will help me make this transition into becoming a successful leader. The second reason I have decided that USC would be the best place for me to earn my masters is that I currently work for the hospital here. Financial burden from my previous school loans is a constant concern when I look at where I can attend. When I became aware that USC has a tuition reimbursement program, I knew immediately USC would be at the top of my list. Another reason USC is my number one choice is the tough academic requirements it will impose on its students. I want to be challenged intellectually and practically. When I am challenged to critically assess a situation, class, or project, I will almost always have
The USC Trojans, one of the nation’s premier bowl teams, with an overall post-season record of 33-16. The Cardinal and Gold have lost just twice in its past 11 bowl
USC’s chances of reaching the College Football Playoff certainly aren’t out of reach. Trojan fans only have to recall the Buckeyes title run following an ugly loss to Virginia Tech in week 2 last season. Saturday’s upcoming contest with Arizona State is probably a must win for USC. The harsh reality is that the Trojans likely have to win all the remaining games on their schedule to achieve their preseason goals.
Third, beside the unsafe neighborhoods of USC, the incovenient location and imperfect transportations are also the weaknesses of USC. For instance, there are few transportations around USC. In the data maps of the public transportations, it shows that the number of public transportations around USC is only 20 which is lower than the 51 public transportations around UCLA. Beside, according to Steven's experience, the USC school buses are always delayed or even suddenly cancelled. Therefore, USC students without private cars feel depressed sometime. In fact, the issue of transportation, as one of the USC weaknesses, becomes more obvious because of the policy of dormitory of USC, as steven said. According to the policy of dormitory of USC, the dormitories of USC are only
