WestJet is a Canadian low-cost carrier, which was founded in 1996 and headquartered in Calgary, Alberta. WestJet is Canada’s second largest airline with high per cent of the domestic market. It provides scheduled and charter air service to 86 destinations in Canada, the United States, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central America. WestJet operates an average of 425 flights and carrying over 45,000 passengers per day. In 2012, WestJet carried 17,453,352 passengers, making it the ninth-largest airline in North America by passengers carried.One of WestJet’s main values is to be positive, passionate and entertaining in everything they do which make them different from any different airlines.

Weaknesses:
As a company, WestJet does not show a lot of weaknesses. However,the lack of international and Trans-Continental flights in the world of rapidly rising economies, international business and marketscould be count as a weakness. Customers may not be provided with the international destination they are looking for and could be turned to competing airlines. When higher-class travellers are looking to fly with some added comfort and special service, WestJet does not provide any sort of first class seating which can be a factor of lost business. However, December 2012 WestJet launched“premium economy” class flights program, which is designed to satisfy particular customer’s demands with extra legroom and services. Travelers have also dissatisfied with the fact of lack ofseats for larger passengers, becauseWestJet airplane’s seats aren’t big enough. Moreover, some passengers do not agree with the complimentary snacks only being served on flights two or more hours in length. In addition, Due to small crafts WestJet may become a victim of stereotype of low-cost, low-fare, and short-haul scheduled air carrier only.

Let’s dive into Canadian Airlines and see what’s that all about. Of course, Canada is going to have multiple airlines all over, some areas have more than others for example, the Quebec area in Canada is covered in Airlines compared to smaller areas in Canada. There are four commonly used in Canada and they are Air Canada, WestJet, Jazz Air, and Regional Airlines. Air Canada is the largest provider of scheduled passenger service in the Canadian market, as well as the largest provider of the international flights to and from Canada. WestJet could possibly be a Canadian Southwest Airline, a low fare airline and in fifteen years has become one of Canada’s largest airlines that specializes in travel from Canada throughout the United States and the Caribbean. Jazz Air is the top Canadian carrier in terms of overall flights and the number of Canadian destinations that are served. Regional Airlines exist because with Canada being the second largest country behind Russia and all the ground that needs to be covered a regional airline that specializes in flying within different regions of the the country. In Canada, the people are all about the trends. What is the latest, hottest, and newest thing in the newest. So maybe one-week Jazz Air is having a specialty and it has caught the attention of people and they prefer using Jazz Air only for that week then Air Canada decides to do a three-month promotion. Well at the end of the day Jazz Air is old news
• WestJet views its employees as its most valuable asset. Therefore, it aims to ensure that employees’ work experience is fun, challenging and rewarding. Encourages employees to interact positively with customers to try to earn repeat customers.
I believe the greatest advantage that WestJet has is a positive image from both consumers and employees, they kind of go hand in hand. Because WestJet has great incentive program for their employees, it helps drive home the idea that great customer service is number one. When your front line workers (the ones that have the most interaction with your customers) are treated well and are recognized for their hard work, the company and customer both win.

The airline industry rides a train that is propelled by many different factors, such as the state of the economy, jet fuel prices, people’s view of the industry itself and the image of the individual airline entity. Founded by Clive Beddoe, Don Bell, Mark Hill and Tim Morgan, WestJet has been riding a different train from the get-go since its inauguration in 1996,.
