The Little Rock Nine faced many struggles, and dealing with the Governor of Arkansas was one of them. As Elizabeth Eckford recalled in her interview with Facing History and Ourselves, she “walked further down the line of guards to where there was another sidewalk,” but when she “stepped up, they crossed rifles” (Eckford). She was informed the night before that there would be guards at the door, but she thought it was to protect them. This didn’t seem to be the case for her, though, because after trying three times to enter the school, she was led by a soldier into the crowd of angry people, shouting for her to leave. She said that they, “to [her] ears sounded like a mob” (Eckford). This was society’s first reaction to the Little Rock Nine,

Hartford, CT is a well-known city that has developed into a concentric zone fashion. A concentric zone consists of five zones; Central Business District, Transitional Zone, Working Class Zone, Residential Zone, and the Commuter Zone. Each zone consists of different qualities that can all be found in Hartford. Hartford is very similar to Chicago based on the description of Chicago given by Dr. Burgess. Just like Chicago, Hartford is also a city that has a high crime rate.

There are many ways that the press worked to clarify events for the national audience from the Little Rock Nine. The Little Rock Nine was a group of nine black children who wanted a chance to go to Central High School for educational purposes. What they didn't know was that there were segregationists who would do everything in their power to make sure the black students wouldn't have the experience they wanted at Central. The media took these moments to make news that everyone would see and know about.

The United States of America is known for many things and accomplishments, one of these accomplishments would be the longest standing constitution still in use. This is quite impressive but, how did the constitution set up such a successful government? In the discussion there will be an evaluation of how the government was original set up and what key changes have been made over time; then go into great detail about the function, power, and make up of each of the three main branches of the government: the legislative branch, the executive branch, and the judiciary branch; finally we shall discuss how these branches interact and balance each other out. This will hopefully bring a deeper understanding and insight to the workings and processes of the American government.

People Visit Rhode Island for it’s lovely landscapes, it’s offshore islands and it’s wonderful clams. People visit because of the landscapes such as Narragansett Bay. You can find the clams in Warwick, Rhode Islands second biggest city. Some of Rhode Islands offshore islands are Conanicut Island and Prudence Island.

On the east side of Massachusetts, there lies a city that has been around for almost four hundred years, Boston. Boston is one of the most famous cities in the world. It is known for many things, the Boston Tea Party, the Boston Massacre, the Boston Marathon Bombing, and so many more. There are hundreds of miles of streets that connect and make this beautiful city. This beautiful city is home to hundreds of thousands of people.

Did you know that without the Little Rock Nine our schools might still be segregated. The Little Rock Nine were the first black students to attend a white school. Parents and the Governor of Arkansas tried to keep the schools segregated. President Eisenhower found out of this, and sent help to the black students. With the white parents and governor against the; The Little Rock Nine affected the school system with the help of President Eisenhower.

The events that took place surrounding the Little Rock Nine Crisis, are still embedded in the minds of many. The Little Rock Nine made sure to show people to always stand up for what is right, no matter how difficult the situation is. This event caused many things to occur and has completely changed schools forever.

New Jersey is the fourth smallest state in our country and being raised in New Jersey assumed all looked the same. Most people outside of New Jersey know few things about our great state as the New Jersey Turnpike, Atlantic City, and that The Sopranos being filmed here. Two cities that I grew up in New Jersey that are important to me personally are Hopewell and Newark. Growing up my father traveled our family in these two very distinct but two different cities for job opportunities. In Hopewell, he was a migrant worker making a living working in the fields and in Newark he worked in the factories as a sewing machine operator. Although Hopewell and Newark are from the same state, Hopewell is a preferred city by its space, scenery, and people.

I think that thinking is better than doing because if you just do something then you could harm your future and just doing something without thinking can get you into a lot of trouble. If I had to choose if I wanted to be a person who just does or "intellectual" I would be intellectual. The reason for that is because if I did something without thinking I would have consequences and then that would mess up my future.

Imagine it being the first day of school and seeing a mob of white teenagers your age not letting you in the school, just because you were “colored”. Well back then … all the colored were used to threats, to eyerolls, and to mental and physical hurting by the white. Desegregation was a huge impact for the children and the education. There was segregation in buses, parks, shops, public restrooms, especially in schools, there was an all-white school, and an all-black school. The desegregation of schools was taken place in the 1950’s and the 60’s. Little Rock Nine was a humongous impact in the civil rights

Paterson NJ is a culturally diverse city where many historic events occurred. The city is called home to people from all walks of life, and is a melting pot of art, cultures, music and religion. The fairly large city has many historic landmarks. Not only is Paterson a great city to live, it has profoundly affected me in making me who I am today.

I have lived in Plainsboro since I was a year old; before that I lived in Jersey City. Recognized as one of the top 10 “Best Places to Live” in New Jersey, Plainsboro is a tight-knit diverse community. The municipal building and the Plainsboro Public Library are home to many cultural celebrations of which the Chinese New Year and Holi are my favorites. The community events like the Egg Dropping Competition and summer potluck are also tons of fun. Our town center is always bustling with activities and is a good place to hang out during the summer.

The city of Newark is well known for the University of Delaware, although there are many other colleges in the area. As stated previously a lot of Newark’s population comes from the students from the University of Delaware.
