I have lived in Plainsboro since I was a year old; before that I lived in Jersey City. Recognized as one of the top 10 “Best Places to Live” in New Jersey, Plainsboro is a tight-knit diverse community. The municipal building and the Plainsboro Public Library are home to many cultural celebrations of which the Chinese New Year and Holi are my favorites. The community events like the Egg Dropping Competition and summer potluck are also tons of fun. Our town center is always bustling with activities and is a good place to hang out during the summer.
Growing up in the small town of Pocahontas, Iowa gives appreciation to the simplicity of tight-knit communities. With a population of 1,800 people, there is single café where local farmers enjoy a morning cup of coffee while discussing the news. Rural communities are a place where children have birthday parties at the local pizza place and teenagers’ first jobs are as detasslers. As a child, your mother knows if you got in trouble at school before you return home and everyone’s name is well known throughout the area.
DESCRIBE: what are the streets like? Stop signs? Sidewalks? Houses close together? A rich side and poor side of town? Markets? Stores? Playgrounds? Places to congregate
Another activity they have here in Mechanicville is something called the "duck derby." Many residents of Mechanicville gather down at the docks, behind the police station and race rubber ducks down the Hudson River and the ones that finish first get some sort of prize. A few years ago at one of the duck derby's a local high school teacher ended up creating a flash mob with a bunch of her students, something that no one was expecting to happen. At the duck derby there is also food, and music and usually a lot of people celebrate it, because that also takes place in the
The Community is important to me the city of Biddeford is a awesome place to live it’s the best place to live in my opinion.
As a military brat, I was born and raised in Jacksonville, North Carolina; and have lived here for most of my life. Recently our family was stationed in San Diego, California, and the move was a great eye-opener for me. When I moved to San Diego, I was surprised by the diversity of cultures, the abundance of activities, and how the crowds of people never stopped. It is an excellent place for people who enjoy being amongst other people; there is never a lack of entertainment day or night. Jacksonville, North Carolina on the other hand, is more for people who like a relaxed and quiet family oriented lifestyle.
New Jersey is the fourth smallest state in our country and being raised in New Jersey assumed all looked the same. Most people outside of New Jersey know few things about our great state as the New Jersey Turnpike, Atlantic City, and that The Sopranos being filmed here. Two cities that I grew up in New Jersey that are important to me personally are Hopewell and Newark. Growing up my father traveled our family in these two very distinct but two different cities for job opportunities. In Hopewell, he was a migrant worker making a living working in the fields and in Newark he worked in the factories as a sewing machine operator. Although Hopewell and Newark are from the same state, Hopewell is a preferred city by its space, scenery, and people.
The town’s natural setting is the perfect backdrop for an extensive choice of outdoor recreational activities. The breathtaking views of the surrounding area as well as Grand Forks’ small town allure make it an ideal setting for families as well as retirees. The quality of life that is available in Grand Forks makes it a rare and unique lifestyle opportunity!
It is a very diverse community; it has a population of over of over 200,000. With the “estimated median household income in 2015: $39,835 (it was $30,719 in 2000)” (City-Data, 2017), we have low crime rates and many tourist attractions of which many are historic sites. We have local airport, shopping, restaurants, top of the line medical facilities, entertainment venues and lots of outdoor activities.
I’ve lived in Dover, New Jersey for my entire life. Although I love it here, Dover seems to have a bad reputation with the well-to-do cookie cutter towns in Morris County. People looking in on us from the outside see a dirty, ghetto place where fights occur daily and drug deals happen in the classrooms. This awful stereotype breaks my heart because as someone who has grown up here, I know that the people in Dover are the most passionate, hard working, and proud people around and they have shaped me to be who I am today.
Paterson NJ is a culturally diverse city where many historic events occurred. The city is called home to people from all walks of life, and is a melting pot of art, cultures, music and religion. The fairly large city has many historic landmarks. Not only is Paterson a great city to live, it has profoundly affected me in making me who I am today.
I was pretty hungry that afternoon, thought I would find something to eat outside of the cave. All I was expecting to find was a couple of clown fish, maybe a sea horse if I’m lucky, but never this thing!! I don’t even know what to call it, it was long, all black, and there were constantly bubbles coming out of it back. It had flippers and really big eye balls.
In my visit I saw the Police Department, the new Baseball Field "Dunkin Donuts" that is not in use yet, and many parking lots almost full. I did appreciate many office buildings and hotels, and also saw the Capital Community College's building. I saw High school Students walking in uniform, also students from the College, and people well dress probably from offices and having lunch at that time. The area is more work related, looks clean and has many fast food places and restaurants around. There was a bus stop full of people awaiting and boarding the public transportation. The area is work and business related and it counts with several
David O’Sullivan, from Yonkers NY, brought up some positive things about living in New York City. He talked about the very social environment. “I moved from there to Morehead, KY and it is totally opposite. I like clubs, bowling alleys, a choice of a million restaurants to eat at, and places to hang out, which are the things New York City has.” David also brought up the point that you do not have to own a car in the city. He took the subway everywhere, and got around much faster than compared to dealing with
Did it ever occur to you, why some people can become very influential and take power even with radical ideals? Have you ever wondered why people are extremely convinced to purchase certain products? Animal Farm is a novel written by George Orwell. The purpose of the Animal Farm novel is to convey the adverse effects and consequences of Communism. The purpose of the “Brotherly Love” Coca-Cola advertisement is to persuade customers to buy Coca-Cola. It is very clear that the “Brotherly Love” Coca-Cola commercial utilizes pathos more effectively than Animal Farm’s use of pathos. This is apparent because pathos can leave the viewer/reader with an emotional impact, which is shown through the brother-brother relationship. However, Animal Farm uses plain folk very well with Snowball and Old Major’s attempts to equalize all of the animals on the farm.
In the beginning of time there was nothing but darkness and chaos but then miraculously a being emerged from the empty void called Erebus and night. All was dark, empty and silent until love was born bringing order with it, light was born along with Gaea, the earth from love. Gaea alone gave birth to Uranus, the sky, and he became her husband surrounding her on all sides. Together they created twelve Titans, three cyclops 's and three Hecatonchires (hundred-handed ones). Uranus did not like the Hecatonchires so he hid them in a secret place in the earth which angered Gaea so greatly that she plotted against him. When she asked her children to aid her in taking revenge against Uranus all of them were too afraid to challenge their father except for the youngest Titan named Kronos. Gaea and Kronos planned their revenge and castrated him as he slept. Uranus disappeared after promising Kronos that the Titans would be punished for what he had done. Kronos was then named ruler, married his sister Rhea and locked up the Hecatonchires and Cyclopes in Tartarus. When Rhea and Kronos had many children Gaea and Uranus prophesied that he would be overthrown by a child of his. To solve the issue Kronos ate all but one of his children in hopes of changing his fate. The child that was not devoured by his father was hidden by Rhea and was named Zeus. Zeus grew up and made a plan to get his siblings back and defeat Kronos. He decided on getting a potion to make
