Weapons and Artillery of World War II The result of World War II was affected by many different factors. One major factor which affected the war was the weapons and artillery used during the war. Since the beginnings of time, weapons have always been around. From swords and knives to nuclear weapons and missiles, weapons have evolved greatly throughout the years. The weapons and artillery used in World War II basically were evolved types of weaponry that were used during World War I (Military History 1). World War II began in 1939 when the German armies decided to invade parts of Europe, therefore causing Europeans to retaliate against the Germans (World War 1). World War II began because those countries which were …show more content…
Some of these smaller weapons include pistols and rifles. A majority of weapons used in World War II were improved weapons from World War II. Most guns increased in power and abilities. In World War II people thought that pistols were useless but this was proved wrong due to the fact that the U.S. Military spent a lot of time into making a better sidearm. Pistols were mainly used in emergencies or whenever a soldier ran out of ammunition. A pistol, at times, could have decided whether a soldier would live or die in combat depending on the situation. Another factor which made the pistol a very important weapon was the fact that the pistol could be reloaded much faster than a rifle (Slayton 12). Another very powerful gun that was used in World War II was the Submarine guns. The submarine guns are much stronger and better than normal guns due to the fact that they have better firing distances (Military History 7). The submarine gun was built mainly for endurance and for accuracy. This gun had the accuracy to fire from 800 to at least 1,000 yards away and delivers a powerful blow to its victims. One problem which the gun had was the fact that it could dislocate a soldiers arm whenever it was fired. But finally the submarine gun was improved and is now less powerful which makes it easier for firing full automatic rounds along with pistol rounds (8). Another very important weapon used in World War II was the
During World War 1, there was many different weapons use to lead to successful battles. Many people after the war played down the bayonet but it was an important weapon of the war. The flamethrower was highly effective because it would either drive away the enemies or kill them. Machine guns were one of the most lethal weapons in the war. The benefit from the mortar was its security . The tank was most affected versus machine guns because it could withstand the fire from it. All of the weapons played a big part in the war. The Germans developed more types of bayonets then all the other armies combined.
Infantry used the M-67 recoilless rifle to destroy bunkers. It was a breach-loaded single shot rifle (much like a bazooka and other
What really set the tone for the start World War II was actually the effects World War I itself. What the effects World War I did was set unrest among the European states. It devastated most of the area financially, especially Germany. After the war, scientific advancements greatly increased. One of the most notable scientific advancements was being weapon improvements. After the First World War many nations grew tired, however this didn’t stop Italy and Germany from building up their armies. Britain and France didn’t want to repeat World War I so they wanted to keep the peace through appeasement. Germany however took advantage of this.
First, we will discuss ground vehicle advances. The Jeep was invented in World War Two. It was used as basic transportation for troops. After the war, the Jeep became more popular and was then used as a production vehicle for the public. Tanks of World War One were very primitive and very ineffective. In World War Two, the tank was one of the most important vehicles used. Leading up to World War Two, tanks were made more powerful, faster, lighter, and stronger. Tank warfare was very important in World War Two. All countries involved in the war were producing their own models of tanks. By the end of the war, the Allies had developed a new kind of tank. It had no big guns on it. It was a troop transportation vehicle that was heavily armored. Transportation vehicles were very important in the war. Without transportation, there is no efficient way to move troops. All of these vehicles were very important in the history of war.
The new weapon was the handgun. The handgun was invented well before the war began yet it was not widely used due to their short range and long reload time. When the war begun handgun technology grew. Smith & Wesson a gun company created rimfire cartridges which allowed the gun to have the ability to ne reloaded from behind, decreasing the reloading process. Handguns also used the new technology to be able to be extremely accurate up to fifty yards and hold several rounds before needing to be reloaded. Edward C. Ezell teaches us that, “By linking the trigger to the hammer-cocking and cylinder-revolving mechanisms, double action permitted a pistol to be fired with a simple pull of the trigger.” This is important because before Smith & Wesson created this new trigger system soldiers had to manually pull back the hammer before the gun could fire now when they pulled the trigger the hammer was automatically pulled back and released firing the handgun. With the combinations of all these new technologies the handgun or as they called them revolvers quickly became popular replacing the centuries old weapon the sword. The sword had been used as a weapon for thousands of years even as a sidearm once guns started to be primarily used but now with new advantages of the handgun swords were made obsolete. With all the new invented technologies of firearms being put together how do the

World War Two was a very inventionative time in our history. In order to keep up with the war and its demands, people all over the world were creating and developing different equipments, weapons, and medications. Everything, from cavity magnetrons becoming microwaves, to the V-2 missile helping land us on the moon, even to figuring out how to complete skin grafts, none of these things we take for granted today would have been possible without World War
The .30-caliber machine gun played an important role for the U.S. during World War II, especially the Pacific Theater, where it was quickly deployed to support troops during amphibious operations. And the M1919 was ubiquitous in the conflict, found mounted on everything from jeeps to the tail guns of bombers.
World War II was a war that lasted about 6 years. Within these six years, many new advances took place. In order for countries to be able to have a chance, they would need to keep up with the new, and developing technology. Air technology was still fairly new before the war, but grew rapidly as the war progressed. On the same note, new water vessels were being invented, which allowed to war to grow into the seas. Submarines, U Boats, and other vessels allowed for this shift to occur. Tanks were new and developing during the war also. They were very expensive, but allowed for new advances on the battlefield into other countries’ territory. Lastly, World War II would have had a very different ending without the United States incorporation of Atomic and nuclear weaponry into the war. The bombing of Japan with this technology played a very important role in the development of modern warfare. As a result, World War II could resemble an industrial revolution throughout the world, due to the introduction of new discoveries in aircraft, aquatics, tanks, and atomic/nuclear weaponry.
Technology played a very important role in WWII and the ability to have certain technologies was key to winning on the battlefield for both the United States and its allies. Most of the technology used in WWII were based on already existing technology, however a lot of it was changed and modified due to lessons learned from WWI and these advancements in technology helped America and it allies greatly during WWII. Advancements in medicine, transportation, and weapons played a major factor in the success of America and its allies in WWII by giving an upper hand to soldiers. Technological advancements played a key role on and off the battlefield, helping secure victories that were necessary for defeating German and Japanese forces in both theaters of WWII. Advancements in technology occurred mostly through the fields of medicine, mechanized transportation, and weapons.

World War II start because Germany attacked Poland September, 1939. The United States joined the war in 1941, because the Japanese attacked the U.S. at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. Everyone knows that there was a war and that there were lots of shooting but not too many people went in depth with it. In this report I will be telling you a few of the many weapons and variant’s used in the war.
Weapons that were used in WW l were poisonous gases, which when exposed would pose as a serious threat to the soldiers. Gases that were included, such as mustard gas and chlorine. New technologies, like automatic guns. Hand held guns took time to reload and whereas, these guns would attack quickly. Other weapons that were cannons and rifles. Overall each and every weapon helped soldiers pass through their enemies quickly, without a hassle. U-boats for Germans attack were useful.
World War 2 was the largest war in the history of humanity. It was a global war with over 70 counties participating in it ; it lasted about 7 years, and caused over 60 million casualties. Battles of WW2 covered territories of over 40 countries. Surely it is the greatest war ever, not only because of the facts stated above, but also because it made a significant impact on the world history, the nations, the regimes, the influences, the economies, and many other spheres. This war caused the restructuring of boundaries of several countries, and it even caused the creation of new states . New revolutionary high-tech weaponry had been first used in this war, such as long-distance missiles, jets, and (most importantly) nuclear
World War one was definitely no place for any children. During this war, Germany, France, and Britain were the 3 major players. They all had their own way of dealing with their enemies. Grounded Weapons, Hand held weapons, and Poison gas/Grenades, were the types of weapons used in World War one. Every country is deadly in their own way, giving them advantages in certain situations in the war. The Germans having special weapons that most countries never thing about, makes them one step ahead of most of the other countries. Most of the other countries started to spy on the Germans to try and still their weapons ideas to stay in pace of the Germans. The French and British have their advantages in being large in military
