New Weapons of World War 1 World War one was definitely no place for any children. During this war, Germany, France, and Britain were the 3 major players. They all had their own way of dealing with their enemies. Grounded Weapons, Hand held weapons, and Poison gas/Grenades, were the types of weapons used in World War one. Every country is deadly in their own way, giving them advantages in certain situations in the war. The Germans having special weapons that most countries never thing about, makes them one step ahead of most of the other countries. Most of the other countries started to spy on the Germans to try and still their weapons ideas to stay in pace of the Germans. The French and British have their advantages in being large in military …show more content…
Mustard gas was one of the most painful of ways of dying, as it made u loose vision, and cough up your own blood, defiantly one of the worst ways to day at the time. The Germans launched their first full attack, using mustard gas, during the battle of Ypres. Mustard gas was a very effect weapon, gas mask were not given to soldiers during this time of war since no one had even imagined poison gas as a lethal weapon. The total death number from the battle of Ypres do to poison gas is “Number”. The Germans also preferred to use the stick bomb over grenades, since of its greater throwing distance, however, its explosion range was much smaller than the British and French grenades. The British and the French used an egg-shaped hand grenade, which could be thrown 30 meters, 10 meters less than the German sticks, but carried a much larger explosive charge. The French were acutely the first people to introduce Chemical warfare, however never put much serious focus into it, unlike the Germans, who started to put serious research into the weapons. The Germans were always trying to invent new things, and attempt to create the next super weapon, unlike the French and British who seamed for old fashion by using mostly standard
Weapons in WW1 could decide who would win and who would lose. Newer weapons were brought into the War constantly as they were the most efficient in destroying and making other weapons useless. Making them more powerful for this reason making the death count rise double- time, however, not for long…
Poison gas was used to kill people in the trenches because it’s was very difficult to do. It was hard to kill people in the trenches because you can not get a exact aim so they used poison gas that would kill the person almost instantly. Releasing the gas also depended on with direction the wind was blowing because if it was suppose to going in the enemy's direction but went to your own it would kill the wrong people. The gases used were chlorine and phosgene and mustard gas being the worse because you could put on gas mask so the chlorine or phosgene wouldn’t effectful. However the mustard gas would affect the skin by causing the skin to burn, and leaving a soldier in unbearable pain. Poisonous gas killed millions and was an awful way to die, although it did
World War 1 or the Great War was one of the most brutal if not the most war the world has faced so far. It originated in Europe which quickly went global, the war started on the 28th of July 1914 and ended November 11th 1918. The war consisted of many weapons and deadly gases. The weapons include;
The German Army was the first to use mustard gas effectively against the British soldiers in 1917, near Ypres in World War One. Mustard gas was dispersed as aerial bombs, mortar rounds, artillery shells, land mines, as an aerosol, and rockets. Mustard gas was only lethal in about one percent of cases. Soldiers wore gas masks, but this didn’t protect them from the gas, since the gas could be absorbed through their clothes. Mustard gas would stay the stay in the environment for days, and continue to cause
Amongst the most lasting of factors stemming from the Civil War are the weapons that were developed. Before the Civil War, the weapons used were highly unreliable, and were not advanced enough to provide the needed defense for a young nation such as our own. Innovative minds created many interesting ways to demolish their enemies without ever having to fire a shot or go into full combat through different types of bombs that were in disguise. Among the advancements in the Civil War were the torpedo, the carbine rifle, the minie` ball, several models of rifle-muskets, rocket launchers, rocket bombs, "Greek Fire," and a wide array of other secret weapons.
The Civil War caused great leaps and bounds in technology. not only for guns and cannons but medical support and transport. we had to advances in weapons transportation and medicine. Life wouldn't be the same without these advances.
The civil war is the most violent war in American history, a war against Northern Free States and Southern Slave States to see which side wins because, the nation was split in two nations. The weapons were used in the war are Battle knifes, Musket rifles, Hand guns, Gatling guns, and cannons for maximum damage and kills to the enemy.
There was a 17% difference in casualties from the Napoleonic Wars to World War I. This can be credited mainly to the new weapons. There were many different weapons in World War I, whether they were completely new or just variations and improvements of previous weapons. Some of the new weapons included machine guns, mustard gas, Zeppelins, and planes, while some of the improved weapons included the bolt-action rifle, the Howitzer, and pistols. The innovative new weapons that were introduced in World War I have forever changed the way wars were fought.
The result of World War II was affected by many different factors. One major factor which affected the war was the weapons and artillery used during the war. Since the beginnings of time, weapons have always been around. From swords and knives to nuclear weapons and missiles, weapons have evolved greatly throughout the years. The weapons and artillery used in World War II basically were evolved types of weaponry that were used during World War I (Military History 1).
World War 2 (WWII) was one of the most deadly and destructive events to ever happen in human history. Even with tanks and aircraft, the foot soldiers remain an essential element of modern armies, both because there are tasks they do best, and because even the richest nations can't afford to equip millions of soldiers with tanks. This essay details the various classes of weapons carried and used by infantry soldiers, including the multiple classes of guns. Pistols are generally not suitable for military fighting. With their very short effective range and little ammunition, they are carried in combat by soldiers who are not expected to use them as their main fighting weapon, such as airmen, senior officers, non-combatant soldiers, and other military
World War II is one of the most recognized battles in the history of the world. The battle originated with Germany’s invasion of Poland. This sparked the beginning of the war, though the United States was not yet involved. The U.S. came into the picture after the attack on Pearl Harbor on the morning of December 7, 1941. Though Japan was the more “direct opponent”, the United States Army Rangers, Marine Corps., and every other branch of military took on Japan and Germany.
Chemical warfare, while horrible, proved to be unwieldy and unpredictable, and relatively easy to counter. After some limited successes against unprepared opponents, the use of chemical gas had very little tactical benefit; the recognition of this limited utility is that after widespread use in 1915 - except for the short-lived effects of the introduction of mustard gas in 1917 - gas was abandoned by both sides as an effective tactic.
American army officer Omar Bradley once said,“If we continue to develop our technology without wisdom or prudence, our servant may prove to be our executioner.” The meaning of this quote lies in the destruction and devastation of humanity and geography during war. If we do not stop advancing in ways of killing and causing suffering, we will soon face the consequences of these technologies. Throughout World War I and World War II, there was a ginormous technological boom in which countries were competing to invent new weapons or vehicles used in warfare. Specifically, World War I could be blamed for the start of the creating of new technologies used in warfare even today. These technologies were often invented or created during World War I,
is not certain. However what is certain is that it was thought of as a
It was also this destruction and death that caused nations to later agree to the prohibition of chemical weapons and warfare. Germany used chemicals as a weapon usually in the form of poisonous gas as it was a more technologically advanced weapon then their enemies had. When the Germans first used this weapon it was met with little resistance, therefore, proving that with more advanced weapons, soldiers could accomplish their missions and goals both more accurately and faster or simply making their mission more attainable. While using this weapon, the Germans were not stopped, simply as there was no one to stop them from taking the trenches as their enemies lay dead on the ground in what resembles a gruesome death. During the Second Battle of Ypres, the Germans used chemical weapons for the first time and after a half hour; everything was dead with only the Germans to claim the French trench. This weapon made it possible for the Germans to capture trenches and accomplish their missions.
