Carbon dioxide, CO2, is added to the mixture. This is what gives it its fizz. One of soda’s main components is fructose and glucose. Mixed together, these two sugars form another sugar called sucrose. Sucrose, C12H22O11, is comprised from carbon, oxygen, and hydrogen atoms.
