Hello, Ashley
While reading page nine through fifteen in the Wake Tech English 111 Reader I learned new strategies and tips on how to improve my song summary essay. I learned how to implement new strategies in my song summary essay so that I could write my introduction, body paragraphs and conclusion proficiently in my paper. Mutually, before reading the Wake Tech English 111 Reader I also did not know that when writing a rough draft for an essay a conclusion, introduction or body paragraph could be written first. Similarly, Ashley I always thought that an introduction had to be written before any other part of an academic essay. Primarily, I thought that an introduction had to be written first because my previous English teachers stressed
The Shires are a country duet from the UK. The members of this duo are Ben Earle and Crissie Rhodes. The word "shire" is a term meant to describe a British county. The Shires was created in 2013 and by 2015 they released their debut album “Brave”, which propelled the band in the music industry. The band became the first British country act to enter and place in the Top 10 of the UK Albums Chart. The members, Earle and Rhodes, share the leading vocals, but Ben also brings to the table his piano and guitar playing.
As a lawyer, Key took great care crafting his word choice for the lyrics to the Star-Spangled Banner. There is an inherent difficulty and artistry in composing lyrics to a predetermined tune. Specific to this case, a historical account of events had to be set to the sophisticated meter of “The Anacreontic Song.” Close examination of Key’s original manuscript [available at the Maryland Historical Society, Baltimore, MD] reveals areas in which Key painstakingly reworked his lyrics to fit the meter of the tune. Most notably the conclusion of the fourth verse “Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just, And let this be our motto – “In God is our Trust” appears crossed-out and rewritten several times.
In the fourth chapter of Writing in College, Joseph Williams and Lawrence McEnerney recommend final revisions to make in a paper. Firstly, Williams and McEnerney describe how to polish the introduction and conclusion. The introduction should present “something . . . puzzling, not entirely understood, perhaps overlooked, not noticed, undervalued” (21). An introduction should not directly respond to the assignment in an obvious manner, but instead advance a thoughtful question or new information. Williams and McEnerney also suggest, “Try to find a quotation in the text that you can say inspired your question or raises your problem” to begin the introduction (22). A quote can generate interest and can provide the basis for an argument. A conclusion
On March 25, Laurin Talese released her highly anticipated debut album Gorgeous Chaos. The album is a wonderful canvas painted with Talese's stellar vocal ability. Laurin Talese's seasoned voice is a testament of her vocal training and background vocal experience. She sings with a great air of confidence and makes creative vocal choices in her approach to each song. The opening track of the album is entitled "Someone to Watch Over Me", a very smooth intro that allows us to be captivated by Talese's pure voice. The piano accompaniment that soon follows is executed with textbook precision.
Felix Mendelssohn composed “Songs Without Words, Op. 19, No. 3” during the Romantic Period. It is known as a hunting song. The form of this song can be categorized as a rondo. This can be argued because the A theme that begins at measure 5 reappears throughout the song about two times. It comes back at measures 50 and 83. In between these A sections are a B section and a C section. The B section starts in measure 29 and the C section starts at measure 67.
Reconciliation is an act of restoration, to unite, unify and up bring a stronger and more functional relationship between the Australian and Aboriginal community. To achieve complete reconciliation attempts from films, poetry, novels and other limitless elements, have been constructed to reflect the attitudes and values of the context in which are designed to accomplish this virtuous goal. Evidently, they demonstrate to be positively effective, through the countless response of the wider community. A powerful illustration that embodies a similar attitude, value and belief is Kerry Fletcher’s, Sorry Song. Written during the early years of indigenous rights, comes arguably one of the most iconic messages, of the Stolen Generation. Through purposefully using repetition and personification in each verse, Fletcher is without doubt singing in determination to expose the ugly history; federal governments effortlessly try to keep buried. Moreover, these techniques become equally more magnificent, when its context is directed and communicated through a non-aboriginal woman, despite the political arrogance at the time. However, In the light of what today symbolises, let us explore the hidden meaning behind Fletchers motivation, which helped mole the true significance of NAIDOC Day.
Music: I decided to use the song “Brave” by Sara Bareilles because I thought it was the
So, when I listened to Mozart’s piece. I thought this was such an amazing piece to listen to. I liked how it was so different with the rhythm and the changing of sounds between the musicians who played it. It started out as calming and refreshing. Then, suddenly it’s so fast pacing, but in an energetic mode. It’s so amazing I loved it. However, it might sound weird, but I have actually listened to this song before when I was studying. It helps me actually retain a lot of information in such a fast pacing tempo. The melody of this piece stranded out the most. However, while the piece was running along then it was very peaceful and joyful. The performance was very professional. I really liked how the musicians were very properly organized
Tenth Avenue North, a band of Christians, released the song “Worn” in 2013. This song contributed to an album called The Struggle. During the song, the singer prays about how they feel tired and discouraged. They plead for help, redemption, and an end to their hardships. However, the singer describes a fight that goes deeper than feeling tired. In their song “Worn”, Tenth Avenue North powerfully describes a Christian’s battle through despair using beautiful music, thoughtful wording, and relatable struggles.
“Cool” from the theater production, West Side Story, is a classic. Contrary to many song’s we’ve listened to in class, this was written for theater, and therefore is an example of popular music. The song is clearly jazz, it’s slow, follows a typical jazz-like rhythm, and more importantly has finger snapping. The piano plays the same rhythm cyclically, but at different pitches. There is repetition throughout the song lyrically, as well. At around 1 minute in, the continuous lyrics stop, as well as the finger snapping and piano starting and stopping. Jazz instruments can be heard, like the saxophone. Leading up to that, a brass-sounding instrument can be heard, it heightens the tension before the one minute mark. The music gets more intense,
The theme of the song gives Herald the strength to find his identity and to find his daughter Zonia returning to her lost mother Martha. The song is the metaphor of hope that every characters need in order to stay strong no matter what happened. The song becomes a dream in Herald’s mind and soul. It is the dream about a better life, stable future, and happiness. African Americans were ready for the movement from slavery to freedom and especially, the path to find themselves- who they are, where they belong, and what their purpose in the whole life.
The expression "The whole is different from the sum of its parts" means humans are only aware of the whole of something at a given time rather the components that are in motion or alive to make the whole function.
Morning Song, by Sylvia Plath, was written in February 1961, the same month she suffered a miscarriage.
The first goal I set for the second quarter was to “Write and record an English song.” While I did not completely finish a song, I developed instrumentals, lyrics, and melody lines for two songs. Interestingly, I brainstormed the ideas for both projects while walking my dog, Bandit.
The Song of Songs in one of the books in the book of Wisdom in the Old Testament. Also in the book of Wisdom are some Psalms, Proverbs and Ecclesiastes. The date of the book is not definite but researchers have guessed that it was written around 1000 BC. The book of the Song of Songs is also known as the Song of Solomon and can be known as just a poem. The book portrays a variety of different ideas and images. Love is the main theme throughout the poem. The author is unknown but people have concluded that it was Solomon himself who wrote it. The author often used recurring words that portrayed the same ideas repeatedly. The season of Spring seems to be always in the book. Love is shown in the book as the best way it can. It is most evident when the man and woman marry. This results in them enjoying each other in a new way. Sex isn’t allowed before marriage in the Christian tradition. Although the couple were close at the beginning of the poem, they were very careful of their actions, and waited until they were married to have sex with each other.
