It was ratified on July 18th, 1947. It made it so that if the President is absent, then the Vice President takes over, and if the Vice President is absent then the President Pro Tempore takes over, if that person is absent then the Speaker of the House takes over, and if that person is absent then the Secretary of State takes over.
The article I chose for this assignment was Power and the Presidency, From Kennedy to Obama written by Robert Dallek. I found this to be a very interesting article. This article is tied in with this week’s chapter because this week’s chapter was on the president. This article was on the increases in power of the executive branch. I learned more about the increase in power in the office of the president and how it has changed over time. I learned that the President’s control over foreign affairs has been growing since the Theodore Roosevelt administration. I learned Kennedy greatly expanded the power of the presidency particularly in the area of foreign affairs. I learned that by the early 1960s, the president had become the principle architect
Within the hierarchy of Presidential political appointees, White House policy czars are becoming both more prominent and more controversial. The Administration’s policy czar positions are established either by Executive order or by Presidential directive. In some cases, a powerful Governor or the national political committee for the President’s party will convince the President to establish a subject matter czar to emphasize the importance of a particular issue. The czars’ role is to direct Federal policy development and manage interagency requirements associated with implementing the President’s political agenda.
United States Congress and passed as a law in 1820, under the presidency of James
Amendment twelve is the Election of the President and Vice President, this goes with the political stance. Any person shall present a written bill to the House of Representatives. If the majority of the House approves the law, then they will give the bill to the Senate. The majority of the Senate must also approve the law for them to pass it to the President of the 4th Period Schanz. If the President approves the law and signs it, the bill becomes a law. The Twenty-fifth Amendment to the United States Constitution is made of 4 different sections. The first section explains what occurs if the president is removed from office or if they resign or worst die during their term. The second section basically lets one know how the vice presidency is filled if vacant. The President nominates someone, and the majority vote of both House of Congress makes the final decision. The third section states that if the president is disabled he must submit a written declaration stating that he is unable to perform his responsibility to the president pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives. The vice president then holds the role of the acting president until the president can return
I decided to pick the 25th president of the United States, William McKinley. He was the governor of Ohio before he ran for presidency. When he was running he had major support from the elite class. He won over Bryan by a landslide. In 1898, he led America against the Spanish over an issue in Cuban independence. He was elected once more in 1900, but was assassinated in New York, 1901. That is the life of McKinley right before being president and how his life ended. Thanks for
Prohibits each government in the United States from denying a citizen the right to vote based on that citizen's "race, color, or previous condition of servitude" (for example, slavery). It was ratified on February 3, 1870.
Twenty-Fifth Amendment-to the United States Constitution deals with succession to the Presidency and establishes procedures both for filling a vacancy in the office of the Vice President, as well as responding to Presidential disabilities. It supersedes the ambiguous wording of Article II, Section 1, Clause 6 of the Constitution
The amendment was ratified on February 3, 1870. Before the ratification of this amendment, there was no guarantee of this in the Constitution. This amendment came about because there was too much division at the time over different guidelines
This mainly talks about what powers the President and Vice President have during their time in office. The Article also talks about how the president and the rest of the branch have powers to veto or accept new laws. Framers had to write detailed descriptions for what the President can do, or else one of the President’s could have done what he wanted and made a dictatorship out of our country. But they also trusted each president with power, and they allow them to make new laws in order to better the country.
The most important trait to have as a president is being sympathetic. Being sympathetic means feeling, showing, or expressing sympathy. Johnson (LBJ) exemplified this trait when he was making decisions and by making a lot of acts and programs and things to help people who need it. Being sympathetic as a president is very important because if the president is not sympathetic than when the president makes a decision or does something it will not be based on what they think will be good, and will be based on the people thing is good, and or need. If the president does not consider any one then the people will not be happy LBJ exemplified this trait a lot but a few times were when he fought a lot for African-American’s, when he decided not to
Article two, section two of the constitution outlines presidential power. Some of the powers given to the president include commander of the army and navy, the ability to make treaties, and the power to fill vacancies and appoint officials. Relatively speaking, this is a lot of power. Especially because this was written at a time when strong government was terrifying to those who just had fought a war to overthrow a tyrant. To appease this fear, several stipulations were added to this power. The senate
Once approved by every State the U.S. Constitution was put in effect in 1789. The U.S. Constitution brought the President, Supreme Court and Congress into play. It states the powers held by each office and lays out how each position should be picked. The U.S Constitution also states the rights of every U.S citizen.
After leaning the previous modules, we learn I understand why stewardship was the last. It encompasses everything we learned and more. Through the threshold of the Bush Administration I became an angry voter. What political stewardship has taught me that I was a lazy voter. Unaware of numerous things and not self-educating myself. Learning about political stewardship has made me realized I need to shift gears and become more politically aware, more than ever. There is so much to learn about government, especially our political system. I need to become proactive in a plethora of things, especially food politics. I don’t want anything else passing me by. I was very proactive in my first attempt at college attending Prairie View A &M University.
