After leaning the previous modules, we learn I understand why stewardship was the last. It encompasses everything we learned and more. Through the threshold of the Bush Administration I became an angry voter. What political stewardship has taught me that I was a lazy voter. Unaware of numerous things and not self-educating myself. Learning about political stewardship has made me realized I need to shift gears and become more politically aware, more than ever. There is so much to learn about government, especially our political system. I need to become proactive in a plethora of things, especially food politics. I don’t want anything else passing me by. I was very proactive in my first attempt at college attending Prairie View A &M University.
The Liberal Party forms a majority government. Consequently, in order to pass this proposition, the Conservative Party needs the support of other parties or only the support of Liberals. The support of others is crucial for this promise, yet during the electoral campaign, most of the leaders were not in favor for this legislation. For example, Justin Trudeau, leader of the Liberal Party, clearly said that he would not vote for the legislation; it does not interest his party. Gilles Duceppe was not completely against Harper’s promise : “ S'il veut être sérieux M. Harper, qu'il maintienne l'équilibre entre la sécurité et la liberté, mais qu'il cesse de fournir des armes à des régimes qui bafouent les droits humains.’’ Duceppe is not against this
Billions of dollars are spent by thousands of lobbyists that work within Congress each year to see if they can alter or eliminate federal policies that they feel need are no longer needed or that need to be modified. Does the influence of money make it possible for the lobbyist to be more effective in changing the federal policies? This is a question that has been asked many times and with different points of views and opinions. It is sometimes said the person with the most money has the most influence but I don’t believe that that is always true.
The democratic party began in 1848 and is the oldest party that is still active today.
By the time I got to college, my decision to major in political science came as a surprise to absolutely no one in my life. But I knew that my major was more than just a field of study, it’s essentially a lifestyle. Studying political science requires so much more than reading textbooks and writing papers and doing quantitative analysis, at its very core it’s about how people live their lives. I knew that I would have to make concerted efforts outside of the classroom in order to truly understand the way things worked. My first effort at this was serving on the planning and zoning commission for the City of Coffeyville while attending Coffeyville Community College, which gave me a chance to understand local government at a level that most
When we think about what a leader and manager is, most of us will use the same meaning. But in actual fact this is incorrect. We have to look at these two terms differently. What is a manager? A manager is someone who is responsible for directing and controlling the work and staff of a business, or of a department within the organization. So what is a leader? A leader is someone whom people follow, somebody who guides or directs others. Looking at both terms they both are very different. The question is always asked is a manager can be a leader and leader a manager. The true answer is managers are not always leaders, while leaders can be
The role that millennial leaders play on Capitol Hill has not dramatically changed since the time its generational counterparts held office. I recall moments in history in which political figures such as Thomas Jefferson, Frederick Douglass, and Barack Obama embodied the roles of successful leaders. What all the aforementioned figures, shared in common as well as should any Millennial on Capitol Hill is the spirit to act as a national respondent on injustices, negotiator, and advocate of the people. These qualities have been evoked by all the greatest leaders I can think of and still are relevant to any leader today.
The Liberal Party of Australia believes in the rights and freedoms of all people, supporting the minimisation of interference in the everyday lives of Australian citizens. They promote equal opportunity for all Australians and the encouragement and facilitation of wealth so that all may enjoy the highest possible standards of living, health, education and social justice. The Liberal Party believes that wherever possible, government should not compete with an efficient private sector, and that businesses and individuals instead of government are the creators of wealth and
The Leadership Legacy Assessment is a test that will help an individual identify their type of leadership. As a result, it will provide their characteristic strengths and weaknesses, which will allow the individual to see the area they want to enhance.
The Republican Party wasn’t made up of just one group of people, in a way it was a melting pot. It was made up of antislavery Democrats, northern Whigs, Free Soilers, and Know-Nothings; all were opposed to the further expansion of slavery. The platform of the Republicans was the idea of free labor which offered each person a chance to move up to the status of a land owning farmer. This was the exact opposite of slavery in which there was no chance to ever be anything but a slave. Republicans are not to be confused with abolitionists whose goal was to emancipate slaves; the Republican goal was to prevent the spread of slavery. One of the main events that led to the creation of the Republican Party was the Kansas-Nebraska Act. The Missouri Compromise
Every person has some kind of good and evil traits within their personality, but what really defines good and evil? People from different cultures could consider different traits to be “good” or “evil” or even a little of both. There are times in life where a person has to make certain choices that could be interoperated both ways. In this paper, I will be analyzing different characters in the story “The Good Women of Suzutan” and what type of role each personality plays within the story in order to give the audience a chance to come up with their own ending.

After completing the learning assessments for each of the classes I chose to meet National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration’s (NASPAA) five core competencies, I feel as though I have a much more complete vision of what the MPA program is set out to accomplish for me in my academic and professional lives. The various assignments included in this portfolio were included because I feel they best represent my best work in the MPA program. NAASPA’s core competencies, I believe, are the living heartbeat of the MPA program. They include the ability to lead and manage in public governance, the ability to participate in and contribute to the policy process, to analyze, synthesize, think critically, solve problems, and make decisions, the ability to articulate and apply a public service perspective, and the ability to communicate and interact productively with a diverse and changing workforce and citizenry. All five of these competencies are crucial to thinking and planning strategically, manage services, understanding the complexities in, managing, and applying effective administration in all aspects of government.
What defines leadership? There are a number of definitions of the meaning of leadership including but not limited to the theories of leadership and how leadership should work. In my opinion, every individual has different ways of confronting situations and there is not one leadership style or theory that will be flawless for any given situation. However, to be a successful educational leader, it is crucial to understand and be familiar with the various theories and styles of leadership as well as our personal tendencies to nurture a personal leadership style. Despite the method used to confront a situation, it’s the outcome of success that will determine which leadership style or theory should be used. The following
In class, so far, we have discussed many different topics about leadership. One being different leadership theories. The one that I feel most represents the leader I want to be in the future is servant leadership. When we discussed servant leadership it was defined as this leadership model is based on the leader and the followers wanting to serve others. Basically, this means the servant leader you put your focus on the needs of others before your own. The followers goal is to serve clients and the leader’s goal is to serve the employee and implement the organization mission statement. The leader supports other employees by noticing their goals and provide the proper support to help them reach those goals. This
Political science is a broad topic that covers the history, political and geographical aspect of the world. The course started with a revision on the basics of the constitution, types of power and the political scene that happens around us. My first year at the University, one of the compulsory subject that is required for arts taking students is Political Science 1101. After several years of taking social or political course, taking this course opened my knowledge towards politics and the political scene in Canada. It also taught me about how different ways of information taking could lead to one learning differently from others. For example this class gave us the opportunity to use our laptops as a source of note taking, this helped me learn in which whenever a new vocabulary comes up during the class discussions i could search it up. Through “The Road to Patriation” and Kim Campbell “Through the Looking Glass” i would further emphasize my ideas on what i have learnt throughout the course semester.
