When people look back at their lives, a lot of them would like to think that they made a difference. One of these ways is by caring for an individual who could not take care of themselves. It would bring this person a sense of happiness and great relief knowing that they have done something to change an outcome, or potentially save a life. "Being a vet tech is a rewarding and life changing expierence" (Holmes 46) . Not only is being a vet tech rewarding and life changing, but it can help the world become a better place by saving one animal at a time. For someone who loves animals and spending time with them, being a vet technicians is the most suitable career choice.

Second, the nature of work on choosing a career is an important factor. A vet technician is very similar to what a nurse would do for a physician. As the work environment, even though for someone that loves animals gets the accomplishment of helping and caring for a pet, some of the work is not fun at all, physically and emotionally demanding and it can be dangerous. When they have stressful and a emotional experience when it comes down to seeing animal abuse, euthanized unwanted pets, aged, or injured pets that can’t improve. On top of that there are some vet technicians that have to work an overtime shift that can go up to 24 hours a day. Vet technicians shifts can be from 40 to 50 hours a week. In the other hand, registered nurses have a demanding job. As a registered nurse it’s much cleaner and less dangerous. As for the work environment, it’s much more comfortable and less noisy. In contrast, registered nurses have to sometimes travel to the patients’ home and other hospitals. They also have to work on holidays and weekends. Lastly, registered nurses sometimes are on call to work on the last minute.

One thing that is important to the veterinary technician that is taking the radiographs is the personal protective equipment to the tech. Being able to use all of the proper personal protective equipment (ppe) when taking x-rays will decrease the exposure of radiation to the veterinary technician. The things that a vet tech needs to wear when taking an x-ray are: lead-lined aprons, lead-lined gloves, thyroid shield, and lead glasses. I chose personal protective equipment because I feel that the ppe is the most important to the vet tech than anything else.

For my subject I chose veterinary technician. I chose this job because I love animals. A certified veterinary technician is an individual who has met the minimum qualifications to be certified. Student loans is under 20,000 dollars. You have to have an associates degree to be a vet tech. It can begin right out of highschool. You have to take prerequisite courses in order to be a student. Some places will let you take these in highschool. Attending an accredited program would be good for your career.

Veterinary technicians are like the techies of the theatre; the organization would be able to function without them, but it would be much harder. Things run a lot more smoothly with vet techs. There are multiple benefits that come with being a veterinary technician. These benefits include, but are not limited to, a high job outlook, great room for advancement, and only two years of schooling (depending on the route you take). Above all, the animals, who aren’t always able to help themselves, are being taken care of.

“ My first instinct when I see an animal is to say “Hello.” My first instinct when I see a person is to avoid eye contact and hope they will just go away.” I have always wanted to help animals since I was five. I felt that animals can’t help themselves and I could help. The career of a veterinary technician is a gross and rewarding, because of all the different experiences that one will receive on an everyday basis. The research will describe the career of veterinary technician, what is required to become a successful veterinary technician, and the impacts this career has on today 's society.

From a very young, becoming a veterinarian has been a dream of mine. The love of animals coupled with the thought of helping those animals through suffering and having the opportunity to actually save one's life has been a motivator for the future. A veterinarian changes an animal’s life in more ways than one. They care for the health of animals. Veterinarians are also able to diagnose, treat, and research medical conditions and diseases of not just pets but also livestock and wildlife ("Summary" U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics). It goes beyond the annual vaccinations.

There is a lot of hard work put into this job, maintaining the health of all the animal patients. The overall job description of a veterinarian is a doctor who, “care[s] for the health of animals and work[s] to improve public health. They diagnose, treat, and research medical conditions and diseases of pets, livestock, and other animals” (Veterinarian). Vets also provide emergency care for injured animals as well as provide euthanization for animals unable to be treated effectively. There are several different kinds of vets, each with different daily tasks and patients to work on. The type of vet everyone usually first thinks of is a Clinical Vet, also known as a Companion animal Veterinarian. They treat regular household pets such as dogs, cats, rabbits, pigs, etc. This type of vet’s work environment usually includes being in private clinics and animal hospitals most of the time but can travel to farms and homes if needed. This is the most common field veterinarian students pursue. Another type is Equine Veterinarian. This type of vet focuses just on treating and caring for horses. They spend most of their times on ranches, and also at places like horse racing tracks and shows. Large Animal Veterinarians treat large farm animals such as horses, cows, sheep and pigs. Why is there such a huge burnout rate? The number one reason to such a high burnout is how society treats the veterinarians and veterinarian technician. In a veterinarian clinic you will experience, see and feel a thousand different things in just one day. Something is always happening, it may just be tons of routine visits all morning and by lunch, you’ll see a hit by car who is crashing and owners can’t afford treatment for their 3 year old dog which can cost hundreds to fix. It may seem like to society that we’re money hungry due to prices but in this field veterinarians and veterinarian technicians make less than half of human medicine and more than half of pet owners don’t have pet insurance like they have health insurance for themselves. We don’t realize these things for ourselves and human doctors because our health insurance will pay for all or leave us with a small deductibles. The pay isn’t always worth what we have to deal with. We’re also often cursed, called awful names and accused of not caring for not being able to do free work when we all have families to take care of also. The name

I have an interest of being at a school where I want to be a vet tech. I would like to learn more about animals than I am now at the career center being in a animal care class. That would make my application complete trying to get into a school with vet tech classes. I would like to learn how to take care of sick animals and how the vet tech does x rays and all kinds of experience that I would like to see because i’m not getting that kind of experience at the medina county career center. A career in being a veterinarian should be obtained by a person who enjoys caring for animals, and sometimes having to care for their owners when they have to make hard decisions. Before becoming, a veterinarian person should know the career proves to need a lot of education, but is well worth the work in the end. It is important to know a veterinarian’s regular duties, required education, and the possible salary before choosing a career in this field.

Employment opportunities for veterinarians are expected to grow for all veterinary related occupations. Rising incomes, education, and the movement of baby boomers is expected to raise the percent of household pets. Single adults and senior citizens have come to appreciate animal companionship more than in the past. Pet owners are more willing to pay for more elective and intensive care than before. Emphasis on scientific methods of breeding and raising livestock, poultry, and fish, and continued support for public health and disease control programs will contribute to the demand for veterinarians. The employment outlook is especially good for veterinarians with specialty training such as equine medicine and surgery.
