The proposed change project for Verizon will focus on assisting customers with bad credit. In 2015, VantageScore 3.0 estimates that 30% of Americans have poor or bad credit (Detweiler, 2016). Credit scores typically range between 300 to 850. Poor credit is a credit score of 601 or lower. The 30% amounts to about 68 million Americans (Detweilier, 2016). The number of people with poor or bad credit is astounding. Men and women are not paying their bills. Unpaid student loans, cable bills, car loans and mortgages contribute to bad credit. Verizon has an opportunity to help the community and their customers overcome the obstacles of having bad credit. What resources from your readings should be used? The best resource that I can use is our workbook “Strategic Planning for Public and Nonprofit Organizations” (Bryson, 2004). The book has a vast amount of information on strategic planning that can specifically help the proposed change project. The book has in-depth details about the Strategy Change Cycle. There are ten steps to the Strategy Change Cycle. The Strategy Change Cycle is designed to organize participation, create ideas for strategic interventions, build a winning coalition, and implement strategies (Bryson, 2004, pg. 32). The book has charts and diagrams to help guide you through the process. I think this book is an …show more content…
The SWOC analysis is used to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and challenges of an organization. Strengths and weaknesses are usually internal and refer to the present capacity of the organization, whereas opportunities and challenges are typically external and refer to future potentials for good or ill (Bryson, 2004, pg. 124). Using the workbook to implement these two plans will help the proposed change project. I think that using the workbook and these plans, I can achieve the desired outcome of the
Verizon is a major telecommunication provider in the United States. The company is the market leader, with $110 billion revenue and $2.4 billion in profit (MSN Moneycentral, 2012). Verizon has steady revenue streams that are largely based on a subscription model. It has several business segments, including wireless (63.3% of revenues) and wireline (36.7%) (2011 Verizon Annual Report). Most of this report will therefore focus on the wireless business, not only because this is the largest business that the company operates but because it is a rapidly growing and evolving business as well, a function of the rapid pace of smartphone adoption in America.
According to the 10th annual Verizon Data Breach Investigations Report, 88 percent of the analyzed 1,935 breaches were accomplished through the nine attack vectors, which means that they could have been prevented if some cyber hygiene measures had been applied. It was also discovered that 81 percent of the hacking-related breaches involved either reused/stolen passwords or weak/crackable ones. Not to mention, this year there was an increase in attacks that targeted smaller businesses; 61% of breaches that occurred involved companies with fewer than 1,000 employees. The former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper suggested a few basic hygiene measures for organizations to follow such as the following: patching software, implementing
1. Mission, vision, and primary stakeholders Verizon's corporate mission statement is published in the introduction to the 2010 report, "to enable people and businesses to communicate with each other. We are also committed to providing full and open communication with our customers, employees and investors" (Verizon, 2011a, p. i.). This conveniently outlines the primary stakeholders, with customers owning the service delivered through contracts they commit to, employees obviously having a stake in compensation, benefits and retirement, and investors including institutions as well as individuals. Other stakeholders include the general public who benefit from corporate giving and responsibility, and the suppliers and distributors, their shareholders and employees who earn profit and wages generated directly and indirectly as part of the Verizon value chain, and perhaps the taxpayers who enjoy public services from direct and indirect (capital gains) taxes thereby.
The success of the economic agents depends on a multitude of forces, such as the managerial ability to combine and exploit the resources in an efficient manner, the ability to manage the labor force or the ability to develop positive relationships with the external stakeholder, such as the customers, the business partners, the public and so on. Still, while all these factors are crucial, they are merely adjacent to the core operational function which builds towards organizational success, namely the organizational operations.
Mobile is most useful invention of the science and technology which has helped the world to stay connected. Verizon's financial position is not very impressive. The company has $49 billion debt load. Moreover the Gross Profit Margin of 2003 has decreased to 0.67, which was 0.70 in 2002 (financial/accounting).
The purpose of training and developing within any organizations is to improve the overall effectiveness of goods, product and services, competitiveness, and emphasizes growth in all aspects. It also increases productivity, develop employee turnover, increases financial gain, and lessens the managerial and supervisory positions. Training and developing is essential to obtain but many employers have different perspectives of what training and developing means for its organization. Based on my work experience and the changes that I have seen the company that I work for go through I believe that strategic planning is a very useful process. I work for Verizon communications. The company originally started off as a telephone utility company. Telephone service is a service that is still used today however, not really in the same context that it was used when the Bell Atlantic first started connecting people by supplying telephone service back in the 1940’s (HISTORY AND TIMELINE). Everything in this world eventually changes and telephone service is no exception to that. Former Bell Atlantic merge with two other companies to form the company now known as Verizon Communications.

choices. Determine where change is possible. If the organization is at a juncture or turning point, an inventory of their strengths and weaknesses can reveal priorities as well as possibilities. Adjust and refine plans mid-course. A new opportunity might open wider avenues, while a new threat could close a path that once existed. The purpose of performing a SWOT is to reveal positive forces that work together and potential problems that need to be addressed or at least recognized. Before conducting a SWOT analysis, Hill should decide what format or layout he will use to communicate the issues. Strengths are resources that an organization possesses and the capabilities that an organization has developed. Weaknesses are resources and capabilities that are lacking or deficient in an organization; thus preventing an organization or business from developing a sustainable competitive advantage.
A SWOT analysis is a tool used to identify the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of an organization. A SWOT model measures what an organization can or cannot do as well as the possible opportunities and threats. This is done by taking data from the organization’s environment, analyzing the information and separating it into the internal (strengths and weaknesses) and external (opportunities and threats). When this is completed the analysis can create a plan for the organization to achieve its goals, and identify what difficulties must be overcome to attain
Recall that in a SWOT analysis, the Strengths and Weaknesses are internal. This means that the organization has more control over these factors. The opportunities and threats are external, meaning that they have little to no influence over them. Read the following case study and provide three strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (each) for Athlete’s Warehouse Provide a brief, overall evaluation of this organization based on your findings: Athlete Warehouse Case Study
