Heroes like Demetrio Macias brought the Serrano’s hope of giving them what they felt they truly deserved. Although Demetrio Macias, the general (colonel) of a rebel army is hunting down the army of Pancho Villa, he seems to have the same ideals as the enemy. In addition to Demetrio Macias, we meet women like Camilla and War Paint who represent the different roles that women played during the Mexican Revolution.

When Vargas died in 1705 after repossessing the governorship in 1703, he was succeeded by Governor Francisco Cuervo y Valdes. Governor Cuervo y Valdes campaigned for a more militant approach against the indigenous tribes, predominantly the Navajos, whose troublesome acts were thought to be influencing the Pueblos to resist the Spanish’s reoccupation. On Friday, the 6th of January 2017, Esteban Santiago began shooting a 9mm hand gun in a baggage claim at the Ft. Lauderdale airport, killing five people and injuring six others. Esteban Santiago is a 26 year old male who was discharged from the Alaska Army National Guard for unsatisfactory performance. In an interview with his aunt, Maria Ruiz Rivera, she said, "His mind was not right…He seemed normal at times, but other times he seemed lost. He changed." She added, "He talked about all the destruction and the killing of children. He had visions all the time…Who would have imagined that he could do something like this?" she said. "I don't say that because we're family. I say it because he wasn't like that."
My father Carlos Antonio Rivero was born on July 27, 1965 in Brooklyn Newyork. He is the youngest of two siblings, an older brother and a sister, who were born to his mother Noelia Rivero, and his father Antonio Rivero. However, on his father’s side he was the only biological child.
Vasco Nuñez de Balboa was a spanish explorer,governor,and conquistador. Balboa had three other siblings whose names were Álvaro Núñez De Balboa, Gonzalo Núñez De Balboa, Juan Núñez De Balboa. Balboa did get married to María De Peñalosa (M. 1516–1519).He is known for having crossed the Isthmus of Panama to the Pacific Ocean in 1513. Vasco was also the first European to lead an expedition to have seen or reach the pacific from the new world.
In our mural group project we chose to experience David Alfaro Siqueiros masterpiece known as La America Tropical. In our research and visit of Siqueiros mural we learned about his biography and his reason for painting such a powerful historic mural. Siqueiros mural is located on olvera street in a latino community that has embarrassed and preserved his mural. Overall, during our visit to Siqueiros mural it's msg made us feel welcomed to be on the doorstep of such an iconic masterpiece.
David Alfaro Siqueiros was born December 29th, 1896 in Chihuahua, Mexico, and died January 6th, 1974. Siqueiros has always been known as a political activist, even from his youth. He was a Mexican painter and muralist who made art through his political vision and perspective. Before joining the army during the Mexican Revolution, he went to the San Carlos Academy of Fine Arts. He fought in the Army for nine years and then perused his art endeavors in Europe (Britannica). From 1932-1933 he became a professor at the Chouinard School of Art. He started new techniques such as outdoor murals or airbrush, which led him to dedicate himself to easel painting. This is when he created on of his most famous paintings: Echo of a Scream. By 1936 He established his own school where he set forth his ideologies and artistic concepts (Encyclopedia). Siqueiros was influenced by Marxism, which is the basic theory for communism. His art had numerous social content and he was inspired by the experiences of the revolution. It represented the struggles of freedom during 19th century (Gallery).
