Increasing appropriate vaccination program has been initiated focused implementation of health care system and community services. Effectiveness of increasing vaccination rate in targeted population has been proven by research and data. Recommendation includes the health care providers to offer educations and reminders for clients. Additional strategies of implementation include accessibility of vaccination such as reduced cost and providing expanded access in clinics. Home visit can also be offered for immobilized clients. Standing order is another strategy that has been recommended in this program. Under the state law and approved protocol by the institution, nurses, pharmacists, and other health care professionals can administer vaccination
Health care can be an extremely sensitive topic, as many people have reservations over what treatments work and do not work. One treatment that has spark debate is the effectiveness of flu vaccinations, and the possible outcomes, especially for the elderly. In the Case Study “Healthcare Obligations: Personal vs. Institutional,” Dr. Jones faces several moral and ethical issues concerning flu vaccinations. One of the main issues concerns informing patients about the relative effectiveness of the vaccine and whether or not they should get it. According to the British CDC, the rate of effectiveness for flu shots were less than a quarter and that they offered no significant protection.
Implementing immunizations into the clinics can be challenging for the facility and the staff. There are several methods that have been implemented to monitor the methods used by the staff to give the immunizations to the patients in the clinics. There have been several obstacles and challenges that the staff and leaders have faced. As with any changes that take place in patient care within an organization methods must be set up to monitor those changes. Changes promote challenges not just to staff leaders but the organization as a whole. Communication with any changes can be challenging for
I am passionate about this issues. I have worked as an immunization nurse for several years in the state of Maryland. In Maryland there are strict requirements for vaccinating children for school entry. I worked for Prince George’s County and Baltimore County Health Department. In the state of Maryland many children each year are out compliance and therefore are not allowed to attend school until the requirements are satisfied.
Also present was attorney, Johnny K. Richardson. Dr. Gifford stated the following: Dr. Gifford has been employed at the Phelps County Regional Medical Centers Waynesville site for approximately one and a half years. The nurse, Christina Dhabolt that administered the vaccine normally worked with Dr. Miller in the same offices. Because Dr. Gifford’s nurse was at lunch, Miller’s nurse filled in for her.
I was not aware that school nurses practice under so many different agencies at the same time.
California’s state legislature is currently working to pass a bill that will require school age children to get vaccinated regardless of religious or personal beliefs. SB 277 as the bill as come to be called was authored by Senator Ben Allen (D-Santa Monica) and Senator Richard Pan (D-Sacramento). SB 277 has garnered a lot of attention from people who believe requiring vaccinations violates the rights of the people involved. Senator Bob Huff is one such person who opposed the bill. Senator Huff stated that even though he and his family get vaccinations, requiring others to do so infringes on their rights. If the bill passes, California will be just the third state to pass a law mandating vaccines in school age children. Religious and personal
Many of these diseases are seen as eradicated, and unable to make a comeback. However, due to vaccinations these diseases are currently contained and not allowed to spread amongst the general community. This case study delves into the symptoms, diagnosis, cure, and prevention that will bring light of the importance of this community action plan. Colorado Springs has been chosen as the case study location, and between the media, scientific studies, and community partners, it is shown how important and effective immunizations and vaccinations are to community health.

As nurses we all know that children will be immunized before starting public school, well in New york they have the same law in place, what you might not know is that three families attempted to challenge this requirement when they went to enroll there children they were not allowed to enroll their children, they did not have their children immunized. The families stated religious freedom, but the courts found that the religious freedom does not apply when a vaccine can prevent a disease outbreak at the end the Supreme Court wont challenge New York’s Vaccine requirements for children. This case shows that the courts will not change or alter a well-known preventable way to stop a disease outbreak. In this case the Supreme Court will not even address this issue the lower courts have done there job, and there is no reason that they get involved.
Sufficient data shows that vaccines has made a major improvement in decreasing suffering and death of infectious diseases and syndrome. And yet, despite the mounting evidence that reassure the safety and value of vaccination, public health continuous faces the dilemma over individual choice, autonomy and protection of the entire population at risk. Children in developing countries now have more access to vaccines, yet, the debate continue over the requirement, including mandates immunization during public health emergency and school-aged. This paper addresses the framework for policy and laws that are associated with immunization that protect our children from infectious diseases.
Some people today think getting vaccinated is dangerous and choose not to do so. Some people also worry about getting autism when being vaccine, yes it could happen but it is a very small risk. When people decide not to get vaccinated they are taking a risk catching diseases that can be life threatening. People should be vaccinated in order to try to eliminate disease. People should be vaccinated to prevent disease from spreading, possibly extending one person’s life, and to protect from being infected. Even if people get vaccinated they can still become ill, but the illness may not be as bad compared to not being vaccinated. (Martinuk).
The down fall to these vaccinations are the side effects. Most of them are mild ones such as redness, soreness, or inflammation of the injection site. Some others may cause nausea, fever, or things on them lines, but the bottom line is that you’re not going to get a much more serious disease that could
Based on the review criteria, your thesis takes the position that all infants and children should be vaccinated. First, I find your thesis suitable and able to be supported within the length requirements of the paper. Secondly, I believe your thesis clearly indicates the intention of your paper, and that chosen your supporting ideas adequately defends your paper’s stance on vaccinations. Thirdly, in effort to strengthen your thesis, I would also highlight the consequences of contracting the aforementioned diseases. Finally, in addressing your concern, If you feel your topic is too broad, perhaps you should pick three definite reasons as to why all infants and children should be vaccinated. That way you can reduce the topic by focusing on key
Vaccination is often considered one of the paramount successes in medicine to date. The basis of vaccination is the administration of a vaccine to stimulate an individual's immune system in development of an adaptive immunity to a pathogen. As a result of its invention, vaccination has seen diseases once commonplace in the population have become exceedingly rare and in some cases, entirely eliminated thanks to vaccination (smallpox). However, in order to effectively eradicate those typically transmittable diseases which vaccinations seek to prevent against, a certain percentage of a community must receive the vaccine—this idea is known as herd immunity. Therefore, to maximize the efficiency of vaccination, public health officials made the practice
This paper examines the controversy surrounding the public health issue of vaccinations in children. Following a careful review of the literature surrounding this issue, the possible reasons for and implications of having a large percentage of the population who remains unvaccinated are discussed. Possible interventions and purposed interventions for resolution of this problem are discussed and conclusions are drawn based on what it learned from the literature.
