In 2013 it was reported that over 90 percent of children had received vaccinations, and approximately less than 1 percent of children did not receive vaccinations at all. Every parent wants to do the best they can for their children. However, in cases dealing with potential death, there sometimes seem to only be one side. In the recent years, it has come about that parents may decide on their own. It is becoming more common for parents to chose whether or not they will vaccinate their children. There have been new cases from each side that cause parents to believe one is better than the other. Vaccinations started in 1796 to produce immunity against diseases. People magazine states that the number 6 reason (of popular statements) parents don’t vaccinate their children is because “Vaccines seem like a way for pharmaceutical companies and doctors to make a lot of money.” (Tab 5). Although pharmaceutical companies do make a profit from vaccinations, it is not enough to make a difference in sales. Fear is planted into many parent’s heads when they do research and find that there are always risks. Receiving vaccinations has it’s ups and downs. The plus side to receiving them is that children become immune to the diseases they are receiving vaccinations for. They are able to interact with other children who have vaccinations as well, and are less likely to spread viruses and diseases.
