The Vietnam Veterans of America is a charity in Georgia that serves all veterans and we will ask them to donate used clothes, shoes, appliances and other household items to soldiers and service men and women. We will appeal to the Coastal Habitat for Humanity to donate time and equipment to build houses for low-income residents. United Way will collaborate with CAT to give free bus passes to those struggling financially, but are trying to get to work and achieve economic independence. We will appeal to Toys R Us to donate educational games and toys to the several YMCAs we support as well as the Greenbriar Children’s Center, Hodge Memorial Day care center as well as dozens of the other school readiness and youth academic programs that United Way supports. I also have researched supporters of other nonprofits in Savannah. I will petition the Women’s Auxiliary of Christ Church. They have been providing support to charities since the great depression. They’ve helped local food missions, Habitat for Humanity, a home for unwed teenage mothers and many more. I will also request donations from the Savannah Tour of Homes & Gardens. They filter thousands of dollars in donations back into the community each year (n.d.). Retrieved from http://www.organizersforcharity.org/georgia/. I will also reach out to donors who haven’t contributed in some …show more content…
Although they provide different services than United Way, the Ronald McDonald House is huge and compete for donor dollars. Commissioned 2 Love outreach is a nonprofit ministry for boys and girls and they also provide support for battered women. Although these are all great programs, I have confidence our campaign efforts will keep us from losing out to the competition. I will use many strategies to meet our goal. I will ask major donors to make gifts to our organization. Friendraising activities are essential to any fundraising effort. As people become more involved, they become more committed and their donations will increase as their sense of belonging grows (Weinstein, 2009). Friendraising activities include newsletters and general mailings. This is an important step in the beginning of the relationship. Personalized mailings are brief, but frequent and personal and may just be a thank you. Supporters enjoy seeing behind the scenes at an institution. We will invite donors and potential donors to the office and facilities (Weinstein,
St. Jude’s target for marketing fundraising is far larger than most charities. Their target; preschoolers, professionals, 8th graders and 80 year olds, television, radio, local drives, school drives, trike-a-thons, math-a-thons, local, county, state and national events. Some of the big ones that you may be familiar with; the “Dream Home Giveaway”, the “Thanks and Giving Campaign” and the radio-a-thon “Country Cares”. Because of last year’s St. Jude’s NFL event, 18% of American’s said they planned to support St. Jude’s “Thanks and Giving Campaign” during this past holiday season. No opportunity is turned away.
United Way is having a competition among college age marketing groups for support of a movement to spread awareness and raise money for the cause. United Way is an organization that works with over 80 charity and not-for-profit organizations. Some examples of the organizations that United Way works with are the boys and girls club, food bank, and many others. The mission of the organization is to fight for health, education, and financial stability. United Way gave all of the groups the same hashtag to create unity among the campaigns: #LiveunitedWCA
One of their goals is to provide families with economic opportunities and helping families become financially stable. If a family has a stable income and are financially stable they are able to provide their family with the resources they need to survive. The best possible way to help a family move up the social ladder is by helping them become financially stable. United Way has a multitude of classes and programs that teach families how to be money wise, and how to save for future necessities. United Way assists families navigate any financial issues they may face. Education, and health fall under the umbrella of family income and financial stability. Ensuring that a family has the necessary income and stability provides them with the means to not just survive but thrive.
The year of 1887 marked the beginning of United Way, which originated as Denver’s Charity Organization Society and expanded over 1,000 Community Chests in the late 1940’s (Dess, Lumpkin, Eisner, & McNamara, 2012, p. C19). Then in 1974 their campaign, in America and Canada, exceedigngly raised over $1 billion dollars; thus, causing for the creation of the United Way International so that many countries around the world may have the ability to construct similar organizations that will benefit their nations (Dess, et al., 2012, C19). United Way’s business consist of attracting large companies and
There are numerous organizationsthat are present in our society, be it private, public or voluntary organizations but one thing that is common from these organizations is that they all have missions and goals set for them to achieve. This paper will be discussing an organization called United Way.
We find that the media works great when it comes to reaching those who are passionate about what we do. Our professional website also attracts people .We use our web site as a great resource to display useful information, news, monthly newsletters, events, create community, share alternatives to donating money, and showcase the benefits of our organization. On a weekly basis our team members research and maintain our prospects and our customer databases. We use them for special mailings, follow-up telephone calls, event invitations, alliance development, research profiling, and market segmentation. We find that it is effective to advertise what we are receiving funds and donations to grasp the attention of people who aren’t knowledgeable of the foster care system.
During the school year, the University of Oklahoma chapter of Habitat for Humanity hosts two main events to get the student body involved. The first event is Build-A-Thon, during Build-A-Thon, student organizations work together to build houses representing their organizations and compete to see who can raise the most money to donate to the “Fund for Humanity”, which finances the building costs of other homes. Build-a-thon teaches students the value of hard work and the effects that volunteering can have on the community. I think it is important that the people who the house is for are able to interact with the volunteers and express how big of an impact they have on their lives and show them exactly who their work is going to benefit. Another event that the University of Oklahoma chapter hosts to raise money for Habitat for Humanity is Hustle for Habitat. Hustle for Habitat is a 5k fun run, all money raised is donated to the Cleveland County Habitat for Humanity fund and it also helps raise awareness of how many people are living in poverty. According to the Center for American Progress, in 2014, there were 626,906 people living in poverty in Oklahoma. Most people are unaware of how many people are living in poverty around us, so spreading awareness plays a huge role in getting people involved in volunteer
The threats that loom for the United Way are issues that will remain as long as the organization exists. There will always be competition among other charitable organizations for donations. Maintaining trust and fulfilling goals will help in establishing commitments from donors to secure financial longevity. Keeping their focus on the needs of the communities so the results of their work are evident is also a strong persuader to potential contributors.
My background experience spans in identifying, soliciting, and securing major gifts and donations as a Development Associate/Development Consultant with Friends of WLRN and American Museum of the Cuban Diaspora, respectively. I excel at tapping into the organization’s donor-base and creating creative ways to find potential funding opportunities while maintaining a steadfast dedication
Up to this point, our community outreach strategy has been run and solely operated by our Executive Director. While he has been able to achieve much in partnership with several of our community partners and Family Advisory Council we could do more with funds to direct in this capacity. Specifically, we would like to be able to provide stipends to our most active and committed volunteers in addition to providing incentives such as gift cards, food, and child care for parents who attend our ongoing meetings. These costs would also help to cover expenses such as printing marketing materials, ads, and our online
The strength of a nonprofit organization depends on their capability to secure and conserve funds. Most nonprofits primary source of income is generated from private donors, fees for service, fundraising through special events or government grants. As a result of the recession the organizations that secure funds will be able to maintain a standard of performance. It is inevitable to control all the unpredictable, but nonprofit organizations can use multiple strategies that will allow them to survive these difficult times. Therefore having knowledge of your organization’s needs is the first step to fundraising.
The first objective is to gain generous contributions. The amount per donator, ration between new donators and new contacts (collection rate) and the total amount of the donators and contributions are ways to measure how this aspect is doing. Incentives for the staff should also be incorporated into these objectives, especially ones that steer the process towards multi-year support programs.
Other ways our group is finding ways to help the Love Kitchen is networking our campaign to draw awareness from people that do not get on the Indiegogo site frequently. Not only is the main goal of this networking objective is to bring in funds we also would like to draw interest for people to recognize the Love Kitchen as well. We hope that this could help someone that isn’t able to get food on their table for their families or for themselves and help them realizes there is a place in Knoxville that can help them out. This campaign does not only want to help out The Love Kitchen we are also trying to help out the community of Knoxville. Knoxville is known for tradition not just in the University of Tennessee but places like the Love Kitchen.

Cultivating relationships with your donors is a major part of managing an effective fundraiser. You want to engage them and keep them inspired to contribute to your cause. You can choose to engage with your donors directly, or you can employ social media to reach them, and share your continued story, each milestone at a time. Inform thorough email, which can be personalized to show your donor how much you appreciate their support. They will be happy knowing that you value their involvement, and that you care enough to keep them updated regarding the progress of your campaign.
